notify your banks of travel overseas to prevent card blocking
take spare bank cards for alternative if one is lost (check expiry dates)
enable roaming on home country mobile phone account and turn data off on arrival (sms can still be received at no cost for bank codes etc)
    travel insurance
keep a copy of important phone numbers (such as bank and emergency contact) separate to phone

Good advice Pete. Only allowed $10,000 Aus without reporting to customs. Can bring more with declaration.

My understanding is Wise and Revolut are not currently issuing new cards to USA citizens. With out a physical card one is unable to create a virtual card. Currently searching for an alternative. Take Care

Thanks, that was a great video. Just wondering about pharmaceuticals. I have previously purchased antibiotics and blood pressure medications over the counter without a prescription. I'm not sure if there are medications that can't be bought over the counter. Maybe this could/should be a check-list item, especially if we are possibly required to provide information/evidence from our treating doctor.

That's a good point. I bought 6 months worth of blood thinners from Australia. I'm told you can buy most without prescription.

Great checklist for newbies. If I go and stay in a hotel or BnB for 2 weeks, during that time, do you think if I went to an agent, can they help open a bank account even though I do not have long-term accommodation set up? or is it better to wait until I have a long-term condo contract in place? Thx for the great videos.
