We are planning our first trip to Chiang Mai and checked a bunch of videos about this place. Your guide is the most useful and ironically the shortest one. Thank you!

This is a great video Dian, at just the right time. I will be in Chiang Mai for a 4th of July (2024) celebration with US Army veterans. I am really excited to see another Muay Thai match, like I saw last year in Kao Lak. If you are around that week, it would be great to share some great things to do. Thank you for the excellent video.
Three points. Cheapest transportation usually is called indrive. If you rent a motorcycle or scooter make sure you know which handbrake controls front or back so you don't go head over heels. Some of the bikes are made for left hand driving and others are made for right hand driving. If you're from the US use a bank card for example Charles Schwab they will repay you any charges from ATMs.
In the Loi Kroh road area, there is a gem of a restaurant about 100 m down Soi 1 called 'Cameron and Aum'...it is managed by a Thai Women who cooks the best Thai food at Thai prices, deliveries are constantly leaving this place and it is worth a visit if you like genuine home cooked Thai food.....
I am planning on moving the family there in 2026. I’m curious what area would be best to move too. I have a 7 yr daughter coming and she will be in school. We want to stay in a condo that has a pool and maybe garden area for her to enjoy. We work from home so WiFi must be amazing. I have been looking at RUclips videos and learning lots of do and donts. But specific neighborhoods I haven’t seen much.
Just, I recommend to avoid Chiangmai during early of each year (jan-apr). Air pollution will be very bad. Other than that, chiangmai is ok. However, I would recommend Nan or Chiangrai which are less popular but cheaper to travel.
Bangkok definitely has more festivities and events going on if that is something you’re interested in. With that being said, the weather in Chiang Mai is really nice during that time of the year
They have multiple locations for the lantern and its not hard to reach no matter where you stay. But if you stay near old city you might get a better ambiance
Could you please expand on the transportation? I have children so scooters are not possible and we would like to visit the mountains outside of the city, do Zipline, rafting etc . Thanks a bunch
@@DianHuang no rental car for me. The traffic in Asia looks too crazy 🤣 Can we get a grab when we are outside of town? Going out of town isn't a problem, but I was wondering how I can get transport back to the city at the end of the day.
I first stayed on airbnb and explore the area to find which one that i like. Facebook group is great too but just be more cautious cause sometimes people get scammed
Hello, this video is very informative. Will u guide / recommend the best property advisor. Secondly, how much a condo, villa or house cost u per month. If it’s 15-20 minutes away from city. Thanks
Thanks for your video. It was very helpful! We are a couple with a 3yr old considering moving to Chiang Mai. My biggest concern is the heat and ability to spend time outdoors. Is Mae rim cooler than in the city of Chiang Mai? Are there children’s park etc? Loved the villa you stayed at. What kind of monthly rent we are looks for a place like that?
I was in Chiang Mai during July until September and the weather was okay. I heard its even better during Nov-January. There were some parks in Mae Rim. I breakdown the cost for rent etc on my other video about cost of living in Chiang mai :)
Might be a weird comment but is cockroach menace really a thing in let's say trendy neighbourhoods like Nimman ? I have read few reddit posts about Chiang Mai in general but was wondering if it's really bad, having lived in Europe for a few years now, it could come as real nightmare to everyday indulging in spraying the apartment. I plan to stay for a month in the city if not couple and hence the Q. Thanks for the video, very informative.
I didn’t find that problem in Nimman, but when i moved to a house outside of it i was dealing with that issue. I think it shouldn’t be a problem if you choose a building that’s well taken care of. Apartment building usually is a better option compared to a house for that issue
I would like to stay better in the country side of Chiang Mai to enjoy nature, the air, relaxing moments.Renting a motorcycle would be a good choice for me.Greetings.👍👍💯⭐
I’d say that Chiang Mai is one if a slow-paced cities you can live in but there are also some places nearby like Mon Jam and Mae Kampong that have amazing nature you can check out ☺️
There are 4 or 5 'international' schools here that I can think of, as well as a number of private schools that have English programs. Which is best will depend largely on your budget I think, and whether you prefer US or UK curriculum.

Hi Dian, saya perlu local guide untuk kunjungan kami ke Chiangmai. Ada rekomendasi?
Just, I recommend to avoid Chiangmai during early of each year (jan-apr). Air pollution will be very bad. Other than that, chiangmai is ok. However, I would recommend Nan or Chiangrai which are less popular but cheaper to travel.
Thank you for sharing this information. What is the name of the place where you can camp? I’m definitely interested in that.

Bangkok definitely has more festivities and events going on if that is something you’re interested in. With that being said, the weather in Chiang Mai is really nice during that time of the year
Im going to attend the lantern festival tgis november, which area is best to stay near the event?
They have multiple locations for the lantern and its not hard to reach no matter where you stay. But if you stay near old city you might get a better ambiance
Is there a date for the 2024 lantern festival already? Thanks!
November 15-16th
@@DianHuang Thanks a lot! Planning our trip around those dates. Just booked our hotel. 🙂
Is there music in your background???

Nice content 💯, I also live in CM and have a YT channel for Muay Thai 😅
Could you please expand on the transportation? I have children so scooters are not possible and we would like to visit the mountains outside of the city, do Zipline, rafting etc . Thanks a bunch
You can easily find a car rental or use grab car :)

Ada gak penerbangan dari jakarta ke chiangmai?
Dari jakarta biasanya ada connecting flight dl di bangkok
I was warned about teh elephant stuff though - they're not treated well?
Sadly some places still allow people to ride the elephants, but there are some ethical ones in Chiang Mai where you can just feed and bathe them :)
Nice music
What was the name where you got a SIM card and the digital nomad area? Thank you!
I got my sim card in Maya Mall and it’s in the Nimman area- where most digital nomads are ☺️
8:44 it'd be helpful if there were text here
