It's definitely my favorite of season 9. A lot of the best content in the show came from those episodes where they mainly hung out in Monica's apartment.
I’m in your comments saying this all the time but really, the great thing about Friends is that even this far into its long run, there are still so many iconic episodes I’m excited to revisit. Ross’ funeral was a big one, such a ridiculous storyline 🤣 I can’t believe how long I’ve been following your reactions!!
A few months ago, a guy in my local city got a random lotto ticket when buying fuel... He won 150 Million Dollars.... he still went to work the next day.
Personally I like buying a lottery ticket every once in a while, because sure, the odds are almost zero, but at least for a little while you can dream of a better life while waiting for the winning numbers to be announced. And sometimes I just need that little hope, even if it's short-lived.
You're right that Paul Rudd had been in some stuff by this time. He wasn't a huge star yet, but he'd been doing movies and TV, including some relatively high-profile roles (most notably in Clueless, Romeo + Juliet, and The Cider House Rules, but also in the mid rom-com The Object of My Affection opposite Jennifer Aniston), for about a decade. Plenty of people knew him by name in 2002.
For content he first appeared on Friends was in 2002 and the roles that started making a name for him was Anchorman (2004), 40 Year-old Virgin (2005), Knocked Up (2007). He also played generic love interest in some big movies back then too.
Hugsy is iconic and that whole thing just shows even more how Joey is just a child in a grown man's body 😂 But he's certainly a great friend. And even though it was Ross, that storyline in E17 is rough, especially now since it's a year since Matty died 💔 I agree, I wish people would say how they feel about someone while they're still alive. And I've never bought a lottery ticket either but not because of the low chances but because I've just never been interested in it. I've also heard some horror stories about people who have won a large sum of money (which is very rare) and it absolutely destroyed them. Having that much money can literally drive someone mad. So it's not for me. I would be pisssed though if I bought so many tickets and I won but because of a stupid decision someone made I'd lose it! Fun facts/continuity: E18 is called a "bottle episode" where the crew has a limited budget. This is why most of the show takes place in Monica and Chandler's apartment, aside from the opening/closing scenes at Central Perk and the couple of seconds Chandler is on the phone with his boss. This is also why these kind of episodes consists of mostly the main cast. When Rachel is on the phone to her mum, Rachel says that she's having trouble understanding her because of her new lips. In 9x08, Amy says that their mum had her lips done. In E18, Phoebe tells Monica and Ross "get a room". She previously said the same thing in the tag scene of 4x08 where Chandler and Kathy kissed in front of them all and in 5x24 after Monica and Chandler made up in Vegas. The "I never get picked!" line Rachel says in E18 refers to 3x09, where she's picked last in the football game. In E18, Chandler says "I'll get it, I'll get it, I'll get it" just like Monica did back in 4x08. In E17, on the coat rack in Phoebe's apartment you can see the jacket she stole in 9x12. Rachel was also the first to hear Ben speak his first word in 2x20, which was "Hi". I don't know if you've seen Love Actually but Ivana Milicevic who plays Kori played one of the American girls that one dude was with. Goof: In E17, Courteney Cox looks like she's going to burst out with laughter when Chandler tells Monica that people think she's a man probably because of the way she stands 😂
We have a new law in my country, so that you can't give the ticket as presents anymore, because the person who bought them has to be the one who collects the prize
Prior to starring as Mike on Friends, Paul Rudd had been in: Clueless with Alicia Silverstone Halloween: The Curse Of Michael Myers Romeo + Juliet with Claire Danes and Leonardo DiCaprio Overnight Delivery with Reese Witherspoon 200 Cigarettes The Cider House Rules with Tobey Maguire and Charlize Theron Wet Hot American Summer with way too many stars to mention. Not a bad start.
To prevent the stupid spending trap that others fall into, I always promised myself that if I ever won the lottery, I would not allow myself to spend a single penny for the first year. Thinking of what you would do with the money when you actually have the money makes a difference. I should also point out I have never bought a ticket lmao but hey, I have a plan 😉
32:02 actually, Facebook originally WAS sort of an alumni site 😂 and it came out just in the same period of season 9, this is the writers keeping up with actual changes in their times.

one question I never thought of until now: how was Monica able to strongarm the phone from Phoebe when how many seasons ago Phoebe took down both Rachel and Monica? I can't remember what episode or anything else about it off the top of my head but I do remember Phoebe had both of them by the ear and said the classic line "if we were in prison you two would be my bitches"
What? Monica is hyped about being the strong one for SEASONS. I know what episode you are talking is in season 2 the one with the Super Bowl when Rachel stole or date Van something (the actor that do action movies when Julia Robert’s apears too) in that episode Monica and Rachel were fighting and Phoebe just took them by the ears, not that impressive or too much strength is needed to do that, Phoebe say the BEACH line because basicly she put in order the situation but that have nothing to do with strength

Honestly, episode 17 is one of my least favorite episodes of the series. It paints Joey in such a negative light with Hugsy (how do you think I got him in the first place?) and had one of Ross' dumbest moments showing himself at the memorial (the journey to that point wasn't great either). Saving grace for that episode was Monica and Phoebe's storyline of her obsessive nature in keeping Phoebe away from Mike. As well as the final moment of "I blame you too." Episode 18, IMO, is the best of season 9. Like I said in response to another person here, a lot of the best moments from this series involves an episode which is mostly just hanging out in Monica's apartment. The situations in that episode were believable: dreams of lottery winnings, Chandler hoping to get his job, and the possibility of money tearing friendships apart. The jokes that were packed in were also very well done (my favorites being Phoebe making Ross uncomfortable by calling him Daddy and Rachel's reaction to "She's gonna be a scientist!"). Just an all around great episode that people need to talk about more.
At this point in the show the character are way over the top that is annoying, the writters put too much stereotypes with this characters, that’s why season 9 and 10 sucks (sure there are funny episodes but still with the characters way over the top just to create random comedy) if been a long time since I watch this 2 last seasons bc even when I’m just watching for comedy purposes at this point and not romance bc I know how all play out I still get frustrated watching the whole episode of this seasons, I wish the writters did a better job bc this isn’t even half of funny of how it use to be
Phoebe was really going through it. I mean my girl was wearing jeans. And idk if you notice this, they have colors. Mike always wore something either black or grey, sometimes maybe even blue while phoebe wore red/orange (somewhere in between) and her chain had hints of blue or black. However during the break up scene and now, she is wearing things opposite and out of her comfort zone. Maybe I'm reading into it a bit much , I just thought it was a cute detail.

Investing the money and saving the money is the smart thing to do. Spend it all and then going broke it’s the worse posible outcome of winning the power ball
The lottery is one of many reasons for Phoebe being my least favorite character on the show. She causes so many problems for everyone with her fake altruism and never seems to suffer any consequences for her behavior. It only gets worse over the seasons.
