I really like how this story goes. We got a character who has been reborn and given a new outlook on life despite a apocalyptic event happening after bring made into a Zombie before the Zombies actually came. He finally is able to clean his own room, ride a motorcycle and enjoy the fine beer he got, even being able to confess his own feelings to someone he likes and rescue a old friend. I definitely gotta keep my eye on the storyline.
Apocalypse Toride is another underrated zombie manga. Edit: Damn it's nice to see a lot of other ppl have read it. Shit was so good minus the rushed ending. Solid 8/10
The glaring metaphor here is how these zombies represent the adult-world society, with their responsabilities and unavoidable fates, and how the MC tries to disconnect himself from that by doing everything he always wanted to do: things that a shackled hardworking person (AKA, zombie) can't really do. It's simple, really, but clever nonetheless.
"things that a shackled hardworking person(AKA, zombie) can't really do." Or someone whose psyche prevents them from being as happy or productive as they could be (Autism, anxiety, and possible paranoia, here).

Work-life balance is important, because it increases productivity by a lot. Slaving away in a soulless office job for 40 or even 70 hours a week is just mainly a waste of resources. Capitalism might not be main problem, inefficiency sounds like the main culprit. Look how fucked up America is, and it all starts that they lost the ability to even build an environment that not throwing away the lives of their citizens and make it a hell place to life. Dude WTF. How if every Manga this man talks about it getting amazing anime adaptations??? It reached a point where I'm actually starting to watch the anime that he made a Manga review of. This is CRAZY
Working on an Airport is quite similar to work on an office. Lots of underpayed work, ungrateful passengers, always short staffed, delays, cancellations, tears and screams. I honestly needed some vacations from that hell after 7 years without a decent rest... then Covid came... and I spent 6 months at home. That was the only good thing with covid :D
Well, it has its ups and downs... if you like to talk to foreigners and tourists, it´s a great place to work! And also the adrenaline is quite addictive. But sometimes you get visited by a "Karen" at work who just wants to ruin your day. The best advise that I can give is look for a job that makes each day great for you. :D
I have a friend who has an outdoorsy job that pays well, has excellent benefits, and gives back to the community in a meaningful way. She said she was jealous of ME and asked why I didn't like my call center desk job because, "it's a desk job and The Office makes it look so fun!" 🙃
@@annasamuelson7212 Yeah it's rare to have something like the Office in real life. It's like watching Brooklyn 99 and thinking all police departments in the US are like that when more than likely none of them are.

He actually uses Shaun of the Dead footage while saying that there's no original take on the zombie genre.... the movie where humans and zombies live happily ever after
He’s saying that because that idea has already been explored making another movie or show or whatnot where humans and zombie live happily ever after will no longer be original because Shaun of the dead has already done it. There’s quite a few movies that have done the zombies and humans live happily ever after, like warm bodies where the main character falls in love with a zombie and then humans and zombies end up living together
Everyone during covid-19: *acting like it's the end of the world* Me: finally the world stopped spinning, now I can just be a shut-in, and people won't complain about me not socializing enough. 😌
I've only started watching the anime but it's a very interesting series. I have not worked in an office or am even finished school yet, but there's something about how Akira goes ape once he realises he doesn't have to work anymore and can actually enjoy himself again that's really powerful. The anime adaptation is really good too, they make it look like the zombies' very presence is a sign of freedom with all of their blood being shown in bright, loud colours but when living human dies or gets hurt their blood is a normal red. This is one of those few series that actually makes me appreciate life more, in a weird way. Idk how to explain it but seeing Akira go from a souless husk Shaun of the Dead style to someone who wants to live life to the fullest is inspiring
I literally finished reading Oyasumi Punpun today. Don't make me feel worse... Edit: Nevermind, I watched the full video and realized that this is what I need
There's a fantastic webtoon with a similar vibe to this called "Boyfriend of the Dead". The main character is a zombie who didn't eat any humans because he is a very picky eater due to being a Gordon Ramsay level chef, and because he didn't eat any humans he kept all of his sentience and motor functions. So the only difference between him and a normal human is that he can't speak normal (he speaks zombie which is just grunts and moans) and has some skin missing. It's very similar to this manga in the sence that everyone else is living in a topical apocalypse while he is just chilling and cooking 5* meals. And as he meets more zombies and humans he slowly makes them have the same chill attitude to the apocalypse. I highly recommend it.
Those are called Revenants: basically, “This man’s blood remains inside his body through sheer force of anger alone” Rather than being shambling husks like zombies or ghouls, or cursed individuals like Vampires or Werewolves, Revenants retain their humanity, and cling to existence via a single burning desire. Perhaps it’s revenge on someone who killed them. Perhaps it’s trying to complete a mission. Whatever it is, not even the grim reaper will stop them from doing what needs to be done
@@redpanda7914 It is, and honestly, the idea is underexplored. There are some stories that play with parts of it, or at least use Undeath in a way less akin to zombies and more akin to Revenants (obvious spoilers apply): Undertale (yes, I know people are tired of hearing about it, but the shoe fits), has Willpower as an actual physical force that can prevent death in sufficient quantities. In excessive amounts, it causes a breakdown of monster's structure, and melts them together into Amalgamates. These entities are still driven by their own willpower and souls, however, just extremely addled by the confusion and pain of merging and not having a particularly solid body Zombieland Saga, despite having Zombie in the name, seems to work more akin to Revenants, as the characters in question retain their sense of self, although I don't know that it is necessarily willpower that sustains them Nobodies in Kingdom Hearts play off of this, as well. Individuals with exceptionally strong hearts who succumb to the darkness may have their bodies and minds persist, which then become Nobodies. Naturally, losing an important piece of yourselves tends to leave you feeling a bit hollowed out, but even the weakest of the Nobodies who lack any memories of their past life are more intelligent than simple shamblers. A lot of old stories about the undead are connected to one another, with modern retellings using bits and pieces (Vampires and Werewolves used to be more or less two sides of the same coin: in Eastern Europe, stories of the Strigoi and Priccolicci respectively match up very well). It seems that a lot of the story bits of revenants either get Shoehorned in with Vampires, or with Zombies. But yes, it is a shame that the concept isn't used more.
Read this whole thing back in quarantine, I’ve been huge into zombies since middle school so this series was, like you said, definitely pretty refreshing when I finally got around to reading it. Hopefully this video helps boost its popularity!!

Now this is reminding me of Highschool of the Dead... rest in piece Daisuke Satou.
This kinda reminds me of Sunset Overdrive. Literal apocalypse going on and the main character is just out here doing whatever they want.
Here again after the Anime release. It's a good time we're having right now.
I saw the first episode just last night and man its better than everything else I've been trying on Netflix. First episode was enthralling
Wouldn’t be funny if the zombies had a bucket list and didn’t act like a zombie until they finished they’re bucket lists but are slowly decomposing
Damn, that's a hard one. Complete everything you wanted to do in life then get super-dementia, or keep your mind and live on in undeath.
Those are called Revenants: basically, “This man’s blood remains inside his body through sheer force of anger alone”
Rather than being shambling husks like zombies or ghouls, or cursed individuals like Vampires or Werewolves, Revenants retain their humanity, and cling to existence via a single burning desire. Perhaps it’s revenge on someone who killed them. Perhaps it’s trying to complete a mission. Whatever it is, not even the grim reaper will stop them from doing what needs to be done
@@spindash64 that sounds cooler than zombies if I’m going to be honest
@@redpanda7914 It is, and honestly, the idea is underexplored. There are some stories that play with parts of it, or at least use Undeath in a way less akin to zombies and more akin to Revenants (obvious spoilers apply):
Undertale (yes, I know people are tired of hearing about it, but the shoe fits), has Willpower as an actual physical force that can prevent death in sufficient quantities. In excessive amounts, it causes a breakdown of monster's structure, and melts them together into Amalgamates. These entities are still driven by their own willpower and souls, however, just extremely addled by the confusion and pain of merging and not having a particularly solid body
Zombieland Saga, despite having Zombie in the name, seems to work more akin to Revenants, as the characters in question retain their sense of self, although I don't know that it is necessarily willpower that sustains them
Nobodies in Kingdom Hearts play off of this, as well.
