Just finished ep 23. It was a tearjerker... The shadows of their handshake was the number 86 and then it changes to the title but this time with colors at the back, truly impressed by the studio!
So glad you talked about 'Those Snow White Notes'. I watched it on a whim and when Setsu played on stage, I started crying out of nowhere. I am like you. I've never been interested in the Shamisen but the way it's played hits something. The show ended up being one of the best anime of the year for me. Also when Umeko sang, I had to re-watch it several times. It was phenomenal.

No, there are really better ones that are even more underrated, like Bishounen Tandeidan, Oddtaxi, Mars Red and Nomad.
I, freaking, love these moments, when Gigguk changes his voice to calm tone, and “shuts up, puts away jokes”. When he starts telling about titles in this way, they just can’t be bad. Every single time he did it in his “nutshells”, I watched these titles, and I liked them from the bottom of my soul. Thank you, Gigguk!
vivy deserves more attention than other anime this season so so underrated and it’s because people think it’s an actual idol centered anime lol

You got me to watch To Your Eternity and it makes me feel the way nothing else has. I think the show is really special. The way it continues drawing you back in is incredible and the stories it tells feel distinct. It genuinely hurts my feelings and leaves me thinking about the characters I miss
i literally just finished season 2 and holllyyy i am so excited for season 3 that was such a rollercoaster of emotions, i can't even put it into words on how that made me feel.

Vivy - Fluorite Eye’s Song being so under-watched is criminal. It and Nomad: Megalo Box 2 are my favourites shows of the season.

As he talked about To Your Eternity, the saddest thing I've watched, A Silent Voice, came to mind, and then he said it was by the same person and I said "Ooohh...yeah, not sure I can watch this then." I ugly cry to A Silent Voice every single time. I haven't been in school in over a decade and yet that damn movie hits something deep and personal I thought I'd tucked waaaaay down and overcome in adulthood, lol! It's my favorite anime movie for that reason, for making me feel so much, but shit...I'm alreasy watching Fruits Basket, I don't know if I'm ready to have my heart completely sliced to sashimi with another sad anime on top of it, lol!
I don’t understand why Vivy is getting bad reviews on MAL, it’s like the bad reviews of Violet Evergarden, it might not have an amazing story but both are stories told amazingly well. That in itself makes it amazing.
Read some of the bad reviews (3-5/10), they are rather ridiculous
i always say that execution comes before the story itself. it's like shows that people say are generic and over done, but if the writers manage to execute that generic plot line so well that it comes out like a masterpiece, then that's a good show to me.

Once the season gets closer to wrapping up. 5 episodes in and I can already tell this is going to be one that people talk about for awhile. It looks beautiful, the music fits amazingly, and every episodes leaves you feeling something. I think it's absolutely genius.

Yeah. But I think it was a bit MAL and other platform's fault because before airing this anime had only music and Sci-fi tags. TBH thanks for youtube and my previous watching history on it I got a recommendation on my watch feed.

I have to do this every time I see anthropomorphic animals, ask why. With having animals instead of humans there has to be a reason why they are animals like with Beastars we see the MC and other struggle with their instinctual tendencies mostly revolving about the carnivores behaviors. At this point in time I am not seeing a reason at this point why they had to make it animals and it knaws at the back of my mind when is the reason going to emerge. Dont get me wrong, the story is great and look forward ti ot every week but this a something akin to not following Chekov's Gun, a literary rule.

Thanks to your recommendation I started watching Vivy. Okay, it was mainly thanks to that little fragment of episode 4, but you gave enough additional reasoning why this is worth watching that I binged all episodes which were released so far. It's very good and I want this show's OST to be out. It has such a strong Sawano vibe, and the plot with Skynet approaching is perfect for me - I love shows about AIs which evolve thanks to all unusual interactions, which their creators never prepared them for.

Well I was skeptical about Vivy because of the Poster and Description doesn't showcase a hint of how good the show actually is. Those who actually watched don't even say anything about the plot and keep misleading people about it being an idol anime. Gigguk's take on it and the clip convinced me that I was missing out on a top contender for Anime of the Season.
I watched everyone of these except for Vivy this season and I will definitely have to go back and watch it. I will say Gigguk missed a banger of a show called "Link Click" and even though it is a Donghua and not Japanese, production quality was superb and the story was very unexpected and unique! 👌
Man you were so RIGHT about Vivy. One of the best animes to come out this year. Everything from the story, animation, characters, ost's and even the cinematography of the fight scenes are brilliantly executed. To those who havn't seen it yet, go watch it since it's such a beautiful piece of gem released this year but be WARNED! The story will emotionally get to you (specially episode 4, 7, 9 and 13).

I was feeling a bit sorry for myself today because of some swelling putting me in a bad mood, so I thought "hey, maybe I'll be in the mood for this since I'm not in the mood for anything else". It's honestly a lot more charming and cute than Gigguk makes it sound. We've seen worse abuse in shows where that wasn't even the focus. I'd say the guy has more of a problem than she does, and she seems to be having a believable positive effect on him after 2 episodes.

@@fieryhephestus It's from Thunderbolt Fantasy. While that Saber appearance was just an April fools joke (they've also done one with kyubei), the show is absolute hype. It's written by Gen Urobuchi (Madoka, Fate/Zero, Psycho Pass) with music from T.M.Revolution and Sawano and is an absolute gem that's severely underrated in the west. Yes, the puppets also looked a bit strange to me at first but you'll likely get used to it in no time as I came to love them. Currently season 3 is airing and up to season 5 has been confirmed. There are also 2 movies released. I heavily recommend giving this show a shot.

I feel like Odd Taxi is so unanimously called the hidden gem of the season that it automatically passes on this title to Shadows House. Which is a real bummer.
For real, I was disappointed he didn't mention Shadow House even though I like Odd Taxi too.

"To Your Eternity" is a very dense anime, kind of like "FLCL" in that way.
Yea totally, I actually hope that this next story arc will be short as well because I'd like to hear more singular stories with the themes and setting of the first one. Like existential stories about humans who have tried their hardest to live despite their situation.

Gigguk. Thank you for saving Vivy. This show really is incredible and it deserves more eyes on it. I watched it because of this video and I've got to say, no regrets. Easily anime of the year for me.

@@bloodred255 It is completely different. The production quality compares to animated films such as Your name and alike. The plot is packed with action and mysteries. This anime feels very unique I haven't quite seen something like this yet, but if I were to say the vibe it gives lays somewhere between "Irregular in a magic school" and game named "Portal" it also gives off some Violet Evergarden vibes thanks to main heroin
