  • Technics SL-1000 MK II P professional broadcast turntable with a small demo and some functional shots.
This is the professional variant of the SP10 or SL1000MKII special made for the Finnish national public broadcast company Yle.
This turntable was built only 14 times with some slight variations on it. This one boasts the very nice Technics EPA100MK2 arm, made from Boron Titanium and has rubies for bearings
    Thanks for watching

The turntable portion of this looks like a Technics SP-10. When I was a college student back in the early 1980’s, I was a DJ on the college radio station and we had three SP-10’s that were connected to and controlled by the mixer board. They were the most durable and high performance turntables I had ever seen. They had to stand up to 24/7 use by over 40 different DJ’s per week.

I have the swedish version which is almost the same apart from a few details (epa 100p, xlr-connectivity on the rear and it doesn't have the additional speed indicator). I'm very much in the need for the service manual for this version, unfortunatley it's not on vinylengine... can you may be help out? Thx for consdidering and best regards to Belgium!

It is a very convincing record player. I should know. I have the Swedish Radio version. Differences:
Line and Monitor out are XLRen on rear panel.
Tone arm is different; the one on the YLE model looks more modern while the SR one is made for adjusting only by the service department; needle weight is unmarked and requires tracking force scales and so on.
Undercarriage looks to be a bit heavier on the SR one, but the feet are missing; it only lives on (braked) wheels.
My one also only can be started and stopped by the remote or by disabling remote; the start/stop on the chassis is not working. Unsure if that is a mod or a fault.

That might be a modification. My understanding is that the start/stop button on the similiar BBC version was completely removed. It started (and stopped) from the panel on the side of the TT and from remote start on the console.

Do you by chance have a service manual for this version. I also have the Swedish Version and would really need it. Thx!

@@betalounge I just might have a lead on that; I've done the Sveriges Radio service department a favour and they owe me one...

i´m using now my Sl-1000mkII, but not like yours it´s a simpler turntable ,this is a professional series

The mere fact that this player has a direct drive with a large starting torque and brakes says that it has ordinary parameters for all types of distortion.
But the same consideration suggests that the very quality of a recording as a medium is almost perfect. The gramophone record format can and should be modernized and it will again become inaccessible to the digital format, like the previous 25 years.
