Thanks Brother . Yeah it's a sentimental piece of kit that cherish . Got tired of seeing it just sitting on the shelf . You'll really enjoy the dish . Im having it tonight with a salad .
Looked real good to me I love simple meals like this as I can stand only so much trail gorp, protein bars and beef jerky . I have that same mess kit but mostly use a old L- handled canteen cup for most trail cooking . Good video thanks for sharing.
Tree Rat69 Thank you Sir and thanks for watching and commenting . Yeah it's hard to beat a lot of the "old gear" . Trail mix and jerky definitely gets old . Give this one a try if you like fish . It's very tasty 👍
Awesome video, good food. I will try this, i like velveeta mac and cheese mixed with tuna, give it a go i think youll like it. Did you make that stove.
Yeah brother I love mac and cheese with tuna . Give this a try , it's REALLY tasty . The stove is made by a company called "little bug enterprises" Great and versatile little stove 👍
Thanks for sharing the memories. Guess I'm just a couple years older than you. I like my old milsurp gear as well. I have several Polish kits similar to that and a stainless Swede set. Its nice but too heavy. Just recently I bought a Soviet para mess kit with canteen. Msybe called a vdv mess kit??? I've yet to take it out. Ive got gear from both sides of the cold war. I prefer to mix and match to my own tastes. Great video.
OKBushcraft Thank you Sir . Yeah I like to mix and match as well . Both sides as well as old and new . I'll check those polish and Soviet ones out . Thanks for watching and commenting . Hoping to take my ALICE pack out next time 🙏👍
@@outofeden_bushcraft3142 One item I almost always bring along for simple shelter on day hikes is my Russian plash palatka, it's a canvas shelter half that can be used as a crude poncho . It's rolled up sitting on top of my Swedish lk35 pack that I usually take on day trips. It's too small for a good shelter but makes a very comfy bivi bag or the like.
Great vid. Pick up a German Esbit stove and GI trioxane tabs to use with it. Less bulky, heats faster than alcohol stove and fits inside the Kochgeschirr.
The Joe Proffitt Channel Thank you my friend . Yeah those were some good days back then . Thanks for watching and commenting . I'll head over to your channel .
Hey brother it's called a "little bug stove" . It has several different configurations you can use with different stoves or fire. I'm using it with fire and several of my videos. I'm using it with fire in the backpacking meals / seafood stuffing video. I'll be the first to admit it's a rather boring video but you can really see how quick boil in that video using fire 👍 littlbug.com/littlbug-junior-stove/
Wish someone made a stainless steel version of this
The closest thing would be a stainless Swedish mess kit .👍
Now two different ones are on the Market A cheap one and a better made one but it's about $70 or so
What is that stove enclosure or wind break?
Cool thanks
Nice job thanks
Thank you Sir 🙏
Great video

I do apologize I thought that I have responded to you. It's called a little bug Stove 👍
I'll have to try adding mackerel to something sometime. I've had it right out of the can, but never with anything.
You'll love it man 👍

phyllis mulkey Thanks Miss Phyllis . Not to boring ?
so I'm kinda new but, do mess kits don't include cups? or does the pan looking part serves as the cup as well?
Some come with them and some don't. Yes the lid that I was drinking out of serves as a cup
