@patrickLino I ordered the Tavelo Attack in size medium carbon black color.. I have high expectation with this frame and try to stay sub 6,8kg for an aero all day race build. I go for the CRW Craft 50/60 wheels with SRAM RED/Force D2 build.. can't wait to ride this baby. During blackfriday Pandapodium had sweet deals on the Tavelo Attack frameset
I too have bought this frame, and it looks awesome. I should have it built in the next month. You were fortunate as your frame weight was to exact spec. Mine was unfortunately out of spec by 3 grams. I.e. 3 grams above the maximum 25gram allowance. Pandapodium have kindly allowed me to return my Farsports FS1 handlebar in exchange for their Avian handlebar to counteract the additional weight. I would consider the geometry to be quite aggressive for todays standards which is why I chose it. I would rate my frame as medium rather than lightweight. I am looking forward to see how it rides and hopefully and I can still get it to about 6.5kg complete.
Hey patrick i heard that Lightcarbon released their new lightweight road frameset few months ago. I think the name of that frame was lcr017-d. Can you review this frameset in the future? It has similar geometry to cannondale super six evo.
I have been eyeing that frame for a couple of months. Maybe LC can send me one out. Honestly if it's anything like my Yishun R086-D (same factory) it should be a winner.
Can't wait for this vs winspace. Held off on my purchase hoping for prices to go down and now there is one more potential option! Looking forward to the build and review
I am bit puzzled...what is the big deal with this Tavelo Attack? compared to the T1550 is not lighter and looks less aero..comparison with the T1500 is not really meaningful..am I missing something?
@@PatrickLino that’s true with respect to the T1500..but the T1550 is roughly 200g lighter than its predecessor so the gap between the two frames is really marginal..and if I’m not mistaken, both the fork and the seat post of the T1550 are lighter
@@PatrickLino to be precise, the T1550 in size L has been reported at 1050…the declared unpainted weight for a size M is 880g to which 100/120g of paint should be added..if not lighter, the T1550 is absolutely comparable
@@PatrickLino no instructions for these frames of course. On my bike the tubes are too narrow to fit the di2 battery except the head tube, but I actually just learned yesterday that there's a part called "battery mount" inside the top tube that I had no idea what it was for.
Good work you're putting in my man. But, I gotta say this... It is crazy how my Colnago C40 frame weighs 1100 grams. And that is over 20 years old!!! Just really ahead of it's time.
@PatrickLino not intending to get into a debate. However, carbon experts/specialists say manufacturing processes have improved tremendously even in the last 10 years, improved resins, and techniques. Anyway, highly recommend you testing one of these frames out one day. Would be super cool!
Aero and disc brakes added weight to bike frames. My Canyon Ultimate 2005 is 1080gram, but my Elves Vanyar 2019 is 890gram. That is almost 20% lighter. The Colnago C40 was ahead of it's time in weight but modern bikes are much stiffer.
I am waiting for mine to be shipped. Planning to try and replicate Joe’s 5.9kg build but probably heavier since I could not get the 65g saddle he used. Hoping to reach at least sub 6.5kg.
Can you show all the spacers in your next video? I bought the frame but it hasn't arrived yet. Selecting a handlebar is a challenge if you don't know if the spacers are compatible with the handlebar.
@@PatrickLino hi there, just received all the bits and parts...now only unpacked it. so far no tight through axle. now concerning headset cup...i have the same setup with farsport handlebar. i felt the same kind of contact on the top spacer. but after switching top/bottom bearings (from feeling they seemed to be oh so slightly different in height...which makes no sense at all) i having no more contact...at least when only putting parts together without tightening...(anyway completely overwhelmed of the huge amount of spacers and itsy bitsy parts...more of a puzzle) ...for the records... frame XXL raw black comes in at 1040g with hanger and cage bolts, fork uncut 434g. and cheers to @chinacycling and pandapodium, their service is really of highest level! and great content Patrick!
I've owned many frames and bikes, they are not as light as people say. With real paint (not paper thin) with everyday parts they are 16-17 lbs with pedals, cages, gps mount!. That's using 1400-1500 gram wheels. To really build a 14-15 lb bike will cost 15,000 dollars. Nice to see real weight.
Both the weight and aerodynamics of any given bike becomes exponentially less important, as the rider weight increases. Sure a 6.8kg bike is critical for a 140 lbs world tour level rider, but not significant at all for an average 200 lbs bloke. Not to mention the law of diminishing returns.

T1500/1550 owners will recognize that top tube to head tube geometry, steerer & seat layup instantly. This will probably be a similarly good frame.
