The Russian Federation team win gold in the teams synchronized swimming event at the London 2012 Olympic Games (10 August).
China won the silver medal in the event with Spain claiming bronze in the Olympic Aquatics Centre.
A relatively recent discipline, synchronised swimming became an Olympic sport for the first time in Los Angeles in 1984, with solo and duet events. These events also took place at the Olympic Games in 1988 in Seoul and in 1992 in Barcelona. Atlanta replaced them in 1996 by a water ballet for eight people. Since the 2000 Olympic Games, the Olympic programme has included the team event and the duet.
Alongside rhythmic gymnastics, synchronised swimming is the only exclusively female Olympic sport.

I so adore synhronized swimming, espesically Russian ladies, because they won 4th or even 5th olympic title (individual in pairs and in team's events since Sindey 2000) YES! They are unbeatable SUPER & GREATEST CHAMPIONS!!!!!

when synchro was first added to the Olympics in 1984 men were not even remotely thought of to do this sport. In 1998 a male swimmer named Bill May and Kristina Lum Underwood competed in the first mixed duet in the world. In 2001 one of the members of USA Synchro had thought of proposing mixed duets to the Olympics, but thought it wasn't the right time. Fast forward to 2015 and mixed gender duets are put in the Fina World Championships in Kazan, Russia. It is most likely that men will be able to swim in the 2020 games. On top of that, if you think this foot fetish joke of a sport is so easy, why don't you try training at the level these medalists are swimming at and get back to me after you have an asthma attack 😊😊😊
