When he does royal flush, the staff has a hit box. If I remember correctly, you can launch the opponent and go into the super and the staff will knock them back down. I might be confusing this with MVC1 but I think it works in this game.
Great video! As an added bonus for his supers - You can actually hit someone with his staff when he throws it in the air for the royal flush. I believe it will knock them into his cards. You can also choose which side to do the Cajon explosion, though it's risky because he will flip to the other side of the screen and can get hit while doing so.
My favorite feature of Gambit's is that if you launcher into Royal Flush, his staff will knock the opponent down into the super, albeit for reduced damage. Still, style points and awesome character design.
everyone thinks that when they start out and it never lasts that long. plus a lot of what you’re seeing on screen is assists doing the work and your scouting out an opening, that’s it. just play the game, you won’t not have fun

I second the Silver Samurai video! He was a staple in my low tier team. His chip is GOD LIKE, and he builds super really quick. Pair him with Doom rocks assist, you can do a simple block string into Doom, then do his projectile which I think does just as much (if not more) damage when you block it. Plus you can change the direction of it once you've thrown it, so you can arch it up to stop jump outs and stuff. It's seriously Strider/Doom level chip. Then when you build enough meter, his lightning super fills the whole screen and has super fast start up. I switch it up and do a block string into a sweep with Doom assist once I have super, and if I catch them with a sweep, immediately cancel into lightning super (and MASH!!!). Silver Samurai doesn't get near enough credit I think.
I think he's beloved since he's always been pretty good in the vs. Game. I remember running Charlie and Gambit for scoops to combos and such in xmen vs SF etc.
My go-to Gambit is projectile type/Ruby Heart on anti-air/ War Machine also anti-air. The reason for this is they are all fun to play, have tricky flexibility to keep people guessing, and the assists all hold enemies in place, setting up War Machine's jumping infinite, allowing all of his super missiles to hit instead of juggling, and Incredible DHC matchups. Cajun Strike while Repulsor Blast is on-screen might not phase the CPU but is sure as hell tricks live opponents.
Me and my opponent were both down to a sliver of health, he jumped in to try and cross me up, I did the Royal Flush. When activated Gambit throws his staff into the air before throwing the cards, that staff saved the match for me, that was the most stylish and dopest finish I have ever performed!
Whoa, I love playing fighting games, but I did not know that its like rocket science, I'm a Gmabit fan, I love using him in X-men VS Street Fighter and MVC1 he is top tier in that series
heya jmcrofts, good shit as always! Plus if you do it on an assist character (at 12:57 in your video), has the added bonus of resetting the combo, and doing hella damage to them.

Tronne Bonne's laugh and pose when she does her assist cracks me up
I really love gambit using royalX card throw.Anti air and follow up combo air is great and with Ken I think it is pretty perfect both.
Amazing we have new MVC2 content in 2021
this is going to be a great series
Such a good character dude. I always use him
It’d be cool to see a video like this about megaman in mvc2!
Strider combos are insane too. I have seen people using gambit, strider & magneto. For me i like using guile, iceman & storm
The best part of the X-Men cartoon is when Gambit says anything.
Man I can beat the breaks off someone with Gambit. One of my favorite comic characters.
I don't know if you know this, but at least in X-Men vs. Street fighter, you can combo into his Royal flush by doing his launcher into Royal Flush. the stick thrown upward will knock them back down right into the Royal Flush. I assume it's the same in this game too.
You can use his Cajun explosion on the other side of the screen just aim behind the opponent
One thing I didn't see mentioned about his Cajun explosion super is that it can be used to cross up too, since it can be done to either wall
I can never forget the Gambit Glitch XD
Nice, gambit was one of the best in the first game.SOLD.
When gambit performs hes Royal Flush super he also throw is staff in the air and knocks the opponent down if they are in the air ... they will get hit with a few cards but you can combo in another super.
Love this mvc2 content. Mvci is currently on Xbox game pass. Game got no love but I’m loving it too rn
Gambit, Strider, Wolverine was one of my go to. Silver samurai and Jin were also some of my dudes. Shit i miss this game. And my bro with who i was playing it.
I main Gambit since the first marvel he good
Think just i found my last character for my team Gambit/Storm/Cyclops.
Also can we talk about his cape idle animation oh my godness
Lets be honest we only pick Gambit when we feelin ourselves
Marvel vs Capcom 2 is a magical game. How many other franchises converted 3d characters into amazing sprites? Such a fun game
I'd like to see a video on shuma-gorath! My favorite character!
