As a half Japanese guy, I must say I love cambodian food. It is definitely one of Asia's best kept secrets.

Tee loeu the truth is many of khmer dishes perished along side the many people of the killing firlds. It's safe to safe the majority of home cooked meals in a khmer household originate from other countries. Only a handful are truly khmer.v

big thumbs up for finally doing a Cambodian edition! but this episode was kind of watered down for me. I don't think you guys got the full Cambodian cuisine and I wish you guys had someone more knowledgeable about the dishes, the ingredients and the origins of our grub (or the very least do his research before filming)! Come to Long Beach and try some real Cambodian food! RE-DO, PLEASE!

You missed the BOK LEHONG (papaya salad) and the SOLOR MECHOO (sweet&sour soup) , and the MEE KOLA and the FISH AMOK which are more popular than the other stuff !!

Woahh I never knew Cambodian food is similar to burmese food ... Like we have a a rice porridge just like that and the vegetable stir fry seems pretty similar to how my mum cooks and we have that ice dessert in Burma too really similar!

I have so many khami (cambodian) friends in columbus,ohio, I always eat food at Mings house and had a couple of Khami sung-saas back in the day. cars, food, culture, always got love for all my Khami people, from a gang kamow, 1 love!

As a Cambodian, it makes me happy seeing the food in a restaurant setting :)
There's two types of Cambodians. The light skin Khmer and the dark skin Khmer. My family literally is half and half. But during the summer we all dark skin Cambodians. LOL

@JizzingTiger SquirtingDragon yes I know there are intermarriages between Koreans and khmer but we also have to remember that some family names are pronounced similar to the Korean Kims as well and therefore could be spelled in English Kim but that doesn't mean they have any lineages ro Koreans.
My family name for example is not derived from my father's family name but from my great grand uncle's first name. Some people just have a similar pronunciation. Some people just choose the family name. It is not exactly always Korean Lineages.

Danny Fenty I love going to Crystal Thai off of Orange and Anaheim, authentic khmer food for decent price. Beef sticks are a must, I always crave also their grilled / fried fish with tamerind sauce and mango salad. And their soups are awsome!

It's always rare to see people representing Cambodians, and I respect you guys for acknowledging us. :D I've always lived in areas where when I tell them I'm Cambodian, they quizzically look at me and ask "Where?" /facepalm. Anyways. ^__^ I'm really happy to see all the foods that I used to eat while growing up, because I definitely don't get to have them anymore in Toronto!

Glad they tried Cambodian food, but I think this video is an excuse for a version 2 because I don't think they had the better dishes we KHMERS know are good like Sach ko tirk pahok, somlaw kari, bai moan (Hainan chicken khmer style), Kuay Teow Phnom Penh, Pahok k'tiss, Loht cha, nom kruok, Nom pachok, Mee katang, and country style food like trey ngeat, chruok krao ch'nang, sngao chruok, tirk kreung, somlaw kokoo, and we have a variety of sour soups....remake lol

1.) The local lac sauce is generally made with lime, black pepper, and water
2.) The soup isn't hot and sour soup. It's called samlah m'chu greung
3.) The green salad is called nhoim sadao.

Next time pick a better person who can fully represent and explain the Cambodian cuisine. This video was a let down compared to all the other food cuisines.
Ditto. There are so much more to Cambo food than this. I know a lot of non-KHMERS love Yao Hon (Cambodian hot pot), Cambo rice noodle soup, Cambo steak (sach ko tirk pahok), Cambo stuffed chicken, etc

Kudos for trying Cambodian food! Those "bitter bombs" are called Sadao! It's an acquired taste like bitter melon. My mom would make bitter melon soup and the look of it was always tempting but at a young age I hated bitter flavors and I would take 1 sip of the soup and give up LOL, but now I love all the various flavors including bitter! You guys gotta try more Cambodian food! There's so much to offer!

We Khasis from Meghalaya in India belong to the Mon-Khmer family of the Austro-Asiatic race and it's really great to see how Khmers eat.

the bitter beads is the best part in that salad, i use to hate it when I was a kid but I was taught the more bitter the better for your health.
