      Good grief....There's only one Jerry Lee Lewis, there will never be another. Elton John is incredible and an amazing singer and player. They are very different and none is better than the other. A lot of people have more vocal range and piano knowledge than Jerry Lee Lewis, but there is only one Killer and artists like him who tour for 7 decades and release music for 7 decades and have the kind of natural born swag and confidence in himself are super rare. Elton John wasn't just being polite about Jerry Lee....Jerry Lee is the real deal. He is what everyone who has ever played rock music has tried to be. He is supremely an INDIVIDUAL and has spent his 84 years on this earth playing to the max with the talent that the creator has given him. Show some goddamn respect.....this is a force of nature the likes of which we wont see again in this lifetime. There is only one Jerry Lee Lewis, so it doesnt matter who sings it better or plays it more complicated, they are not Jerry Lee and that's what we should look at with him...Jerry Lee Lewis, the INDIVIDUAL. The Killer himself. Soon to be 8 decades of released music with his name on it. There is only one. Take it all in and watch every clip available from 7 decades so far. They'll never be another.

    Comparing Elton John's piano playing to Jerry Lee Lewis' has no point. Both artists have their own style and both are excellent piano players. JLL is more of a Boogie Boogie player, Elton has more of a rolling chord style.
    However, when they are singing, Elton uses a far more complicated accompaniment than Jerry Lee. Elton John could easy perform a two hour concert without a band (which he did multiple times). He can create a nice full sound using only his piano. That's something that would be hard for JLL. Though his playing is very good, his 'simplified' playing when he is singing would start to get boring after a while. Because he leaves a lot of gaps and often just uses chords. Elton John never loses his rolling, very rhythmic, piano style and he never leaves gaps.
    Like I have said before both artists are advanced rock pianists, but in my opinion Elton John is the superior one. Not only compared to Jerry Lee Lewis but compared to every other rock pianist. No offense of course to other piano playing singers!

    • @luthermoore2969
      @luthermoore2969 4 года назад +4

      You simply right on one point but completely wrong on the other. Elton even said himself that technically Jerry is a much better piano player. Jerry is a better pianist sorry he is Elton is a great talent I admire him as well, I play piano myself, Jerry is just s god in the piano. Boogie woogie style piano is much harder to play than the kind of pop style Elton plays it just is I know from experience. It's very close but Jerry lee is the better piano player. And at one point in his career Jerry had arguably one of the best country voices in the game in the 60s but Jerry's voice went down hill in the 70s I mean he was still a good singer then and into the 80s but man in the 60s he was the best in my opinion.

      You obviously aren't giving the credit Jerry deserves here. He is a far more superior piano player with more years of experience. And you also haven't listened to much of his stuff. Jerry didn't only play and sing rock and roll, he did country, pop, blues, and whatever he wanted to do. And he most certainly could create a full sound with just the piano and himself. He could easily play without any band. Elton is a good player, but he ain't no Jerry Lee.

      Jerry did it as a solo performance several times. I think EJ's version is more "clear" if this does make any sense. The thing about JLL is that he just IS rock & roll. He's fast, wild, badass..... and that's what R & R is all about. Though he plays so fast, he still hit the right keys everytime and oh lord how he really smashes them

    • @1091Floyd21

      @@rockinresurrection6542 They're both fast. The tempo decides how 'fast' one is, but Elton has more embellishments. Just look at how long he plays piano for before he even starts to sing. JLL wouldn't do anything particularly interesting on the piano with his right hand to fill the gaps. He'd just run his hand up and down the keys over and over. At least that's what I saw in one of his solo versions.
