I too celebrated my 30th birthday alone last year. Later I had a small gathering with my parents, but on the day itself I celebrated alone. What did I do? I made it the best day ever, by doing all the things I like, going to coffee shops, going to the restaurant, not in my city but a city 3 hours away, so it felt like a vacation. After all, the birthday is just a celebration opportunity. Why do we put so much pressure on the day itself, when we can celebrate every other day as well? But ok, since society is pressuring me, I did all those great things and had a great day even though I was alone.
Exposure therapy is scientifically the most effective treatment for social anxiety/social phobia, you should really try it out, it works for so many people! All the best, and happy birthday in advance❤

I don’t have any friends to celebrate with but I decided to focus on the people around me, what I’ve got in life and not make such a huge deal out of celebrating my 30th because, honestly, it’s draining and I want to leave all that worrying behind when I enter my 30s. I turn 30 in about five weeks, too.. And I'm feeling terrible about it. I can relate in not having a huge group of close friends, especially female friends. I also have social anxiety.. Honestly, it was all relatable. Life is too short to put yourself in a situation you will feel uncomfortable in aka a suprise party strangers and acquaintance . I listened carefully to what you said, but perhaps you could show that 21yr old self that you do not need validation from the milkman or dog walker... And that you're comfortable being alone and/or around one close person that day. Maybe it's a new perspective you should view this in. You do not need acquaintances to show up and tell you that you're important. You 100% are, regardless if you have a party or not. Every year, I make it a day about 💞 me 💞. I get my nails done, and spend a ton of money on a designer bag or botox. It makes me happy so I do it. Since covid, I feel like the birthdays flew by and I missed the second half of my 20's. I am not ready to turn 30 yet. It sounds like you aren't either.😅

Also, have you considered making a group/page or group chat for women turning 30 (or in their early 30s) to connect with one another? Most 29yr olds are feeling the same way as you (and me!) and connecting with women who are similar in age with the same fear and anxiety of turning 30 (or have turned 30 recently) can help? Just something consider maybe!

Keep at it Kate , I'm sure there are many woman around your age who would enjoy your friendship. You have to try to make friends and you may feel rejection but you will make a connection with somebody if you keep trying. Don't let your anxiety or rejection beat you.
Your videos are always making me feel better, especially one thing you say here : the fact that we all have different lives and it's normal that we don't always experience certain things that other people do. It's an obvious observation, yet it really reassured me to hear it the way you explained it. My life doesn't make much sense right now, and I'm dealing with anxiety and panic more. I've spent years of not being able to be fully present and enjoy the moment because of sufferings I was going through. And now I'm started to want to get moving and start my life again. But my brain is making me feel so bad about these "lost" years and sometimes I feel so overwhelmed just being aware of my present situation. Having friends definitely helps me a little bit, but I think it's not even enough. I still do wish you can have friends one day, because they are a blessing. And we need people to love and support us. Is it because of social anxiety that you don't have friends ? I'm always surprised to hear you feel alone because I'm sure many people would want to be friend with you. You are so full of energy, so bright and you seem to have such a sweet and warm heart. so true, i really stick to minimalism when it comes to celebrating my bday i usually just go for dinner -- i think because i dont like hosting or answering those dreaded how are you doing/hows work questions or being center of attention for a long time either (thats why i settle with dinners, don't last so long) lol-- havemt had a party or big gathering since my 21st bday. i feel more anxious about planning my 30th than i do about actually turning 30 lol maybe our 30s will be more about celebrating ourselves in other ways , like you mentioned. wishing us both luck in our 30s --- my bday is on 04/19 😊

Problem is the years keep adding up year after year and come and go so quickly 😂 I have never had a girlfriend on my birthday and stopped looking 10 years ago due to being on the bottom of the pile and everyone asks why I'm single, i just pick up a chip and crunch it up and say I'm damaged, injuries do that to some. I started counting down at 40 and now I'm 34 😂. You talk like my mind but i can never find the words to say it...😂
That negative voice is the worst. Don’t feel like you need to put pressure on yourself to have a birthday party. Live the life that you want, not the one you think society expects of you. I suffer from really bad social anxiety and I think the best thing to do is to push myself out of my comfort zone a little from time to time.
My 30th birthday was just me and my sister. It was a good day. On the one hand, I wondered if I was missing out. On the other hand, I had a good day with someone important to me and wouldn't wish to change it now. Not a fan of my own birthdays, such a bizarre pressure to "show off". I'm happy doing nothing for my birthday these days. I put more weight into nice everyday interactions.

I haven’t been able to develop a ‘best friend’ relationship since high school. The year around my 30’th life went to 💩 … but then my life changed all for the better just before my 31’st, like a complete 180 degrees. The universe already has everything planned out for you too. Celebrate yourself, life is too short to compare against others lives 🎉 🎂
