Taking it back to 1989-93, when wakeboard slalom was a part of the competitive wakeboarding format. Even was 50% of the World Championship title scoring system from 1990-93. Fun video, Shaun!
Such an awesome vid! You've been an inspiration to me ever since you pushed me on a swing as a kid in Wisconsin. It puts a massive smile on my face to see you shredding
Hey Shaun, always loved this video! Might be time to bring this challenge back... I just saw DavidOC's attempt at this from last year - full pull at 28mph but couldn't crack 30mph and certainly not as many inverts or Raleys 😂 Anyone foil a course yet....?
Hi do you have any tips to set up a wake board? I've got a hyperlite love it. Just don't know how to set up the boots and where my feet should be placed. I'm left foot forward. I mainly slalom and barefoot but like getting on the board too as I'm a social skiier. Should be feet be wide? Also I feel more comfortable standing towards the boat a bit like you in the video. Should be boots be angled out as I think I prefer them to be more pointing straight as if you where on the swim deck putting on the board and the boots facing to the driver not on an angle or have my left boot angled and the rear right boot straight. I hope I've been as descriptive as I could be hope you're able to offer some advice as you're a pro wake boarder.
It's on my list of videos to shoot in the future so keep an eye out. Here's a couple quick tips. For binding width, most people ride the middle inserts, which is a good place to start. Angle, go somewhere from 9-15 degrees ducked out on each foot for starters and see how it feels. Hope this helps for now Corey.
@@Shaun.Murray Thanks mate. Much appreciated. It's pretty much summer now here in AUS so thanks for your help. Will give it a go. Also thanks for the videos you put out. Many Pros prefer to charge people and it's your type which keeps the skier spirit willing to share and teach for pretty much nothing. Many thanks again.
Matteo Luzzeri did an online slalom tournament recently where you could use anything but a slalom ski. It might still be going on. You should see if you could still join.
That was amazing. My first wake board was to small for me and poorly designed, I fell a lot, then I tried a good wake board and the difference was night and day. So if you find that you can not cut hard and you fall a lot it's probably not you but a poorly designed board.
Nice, that looks like fun!!! I have a couple questions. How important would you say rope height is? Our boat doesn’t have a tower haha. What fin placement do you recommend on the Baseline? Peace!✌🏻
Hi Shaun, my neighbor is putting in a permanent slalom ski course on our small 21 acre skinny lake this summer. I am a wakesurfer. Do you think we can wakesurf and wakeboard in a slalom ski course with all those buoys? Any advice would be appreciated. I have an Xstar Mastercraft 2002 21 foot boat. I am worried I am going to have to sell my house and move to a bigger lake. I appreciate your video. Thanks!
I've wakeboarded and even surfed through/near courses, which can at times bum out the owner of the course. I will say that you shouldn't go down the boat guide boys if you're allowed to use the area. If it's something that you all decide is ok, go between the skier bouys and the boat guides. This will give you good room. BUT, the bigger wakes can pop the bouys off the anchors sometimes and the wakeboarder's ropes can wrap around the bouys and pop em off too. So be careful and considerate
Hey brother I bought a broken winch and some distortion boots I got a motive 147 and too get on The water april is as soon as the water is warm enough but I need some low backs and a winch rope Ill buy some old stuff off you but I can hardly find hyperlite product online
Love to hear you're gearin up for a fun season and would love to say I have stuff to get to you but I don't have old bindings around. Would be too much to keep organized, sorry I don't have anything but hope you line some stuff up!
@@Shaun.Murray yeah thanks any way bud I'm sure u get folks asking for stuff all the time and I apologize for asking and thank you for responding I appreciate that!
This should 100% be an added division of the Masters Waterski Tournament!
That’s why he is Shaun Murray... That was Epic!

Thanks, Ryan! Glad you enjoyed it!
Smiling the whole time I watched this :)
Before wakeboarding existed, I competed in slalom in Oklahoma in the 80's & 90's! That's all we had back then!
Living Legend!
Intense!!! Didn’t even look like you were trying...sick!!!

What rope length did he run? That changes things a bit, and the boat. Wake or ski boat?
You are just one of the most awesome human beings on this planet
The master! Thanks for loving what you do, dude! Murray X Murray 2021 coming soon!

So much cooler than regular Slalom 😂
Nothing like a good day messing around on the water
Hi it is me again and I have watched almost all of your vids keep up the good work Shaun

How about wakeboard tricks with a slalom ski 😏
Good stuff Shawn! Love the content 🤙🏻
a mate of mine used to do raley's out of the 3rd tower on the cable on his slalom ski after finishing a pass on the slalom course. Real crowd pleaser!
Wow, that is how I learned to wakeboard, what today seems like a totally flat wake, fast, and a short rope.
😂😂😂 you are crazy!

First like and comment. Love the content Shaun
Very sweet you are a beast
You need to add this to competitions and call it Stunt Slalom with one rule of you must do one trick between each buoy.
You should sneak into a slalom competition and pull a run like that and blow their minds
That's one way of testing out your boards' ability to track in the water, lol
I'm always kinda scared to jump the wake
Let’s see some SM on a trick ski
If you don’t mess around and attempt untraditional riding behind the boat, you’re not having fun.
please go to owc and make a video where you film and ride doubles with other people.
need to improve rope tension and board control skills (and stamina)? GO SLALOM WAKEBOARDING!!! sick!
😂😂😂😎🤦♂️🙈😆
Science....... Math, 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Am I first
