Hey guys :) Do you plan on watching Pleasantville? It's a classic and really fun to watch - with Tobey Maguire and Reese Witherspoon when they were young
Glen’s character is based on the real life storm chaser Reed Timmer. Reed was a consultant on the movie. Reed became famous for starring in the Discovery Channel show “Storm Chasers”. But he left Discovery years ago and started his own RUclips channel where he livestreams while chasing and posts his other Storm Chaser content. And like Glen’s character, Reed has about a 1.1 million subscribers. Reed is the guy that invented the huge armored cars that can drive into storms and dig into the ground. He calls it the “Dominator”. Reed has been shooting rockets into a tornado since 2019. Also Reed had to hide under and overpass during an EF5 tornado very early in his career as well.
The cow casually floating by while the truck effortlessly drives forward always bugged me. Using the chicken was both more realistic and just hilarious. Didn't know a chicken jump scare was possible 😂
no hate whatsoever but a floating cow would be more believable than “calming” a tornado especially with the tiny amount of chemicals they used. I may be biased but the 1996 Twister was a bit more accurate and realistic than the newer one, although I did enjoy the soundtracks.. that’s just my opinion, please don’t come for me lol.😭
Technically what they tried in the newmivie should be possible. Only if there's alot of the stuff though. Like a whole buildings worth. But with the floating cows it wouldn't be possible at all due to physics. The Newer movie was more realistic but the 1st one definitely tried to have some realism
i fucking LOVE this movie soo fucking much 😭. kate is such a badass and i love that daisy is playing her!! really liked all the actors in this movie they did a fantastic job
I've seen several reviews by meteorologists and they pretty much agree that the storms, the terminology, even Kate's notebooks are all pretty accurate with the science. The visuals of what the storms look like. A few inaccuracies here and there but that's fine. Pretty much every tornado was based on real ones that have happened, even the truck at the rodeo being sucked into the tornado is very reminiscent of a famous picture of a large tornado where you can see headlights of a car if you look closely, a frame or two of the movie when the truck got sucked up looks a lot like that to me. But the science behind collapsing the tornado apparently wouldn't work and stuff, but a saying I like is "it's a movie not a documentary" which I think applies here, it was tons of fun to watch.
The movie theater screen tearing away was also inspired by a photo from the last few years, with the missing screen opening to the destruction from the tornado. Edit to add: it was the Mayfield KY tornado in 2021.
I just did a double feature of Twister & Twisters at the drive-in two nights ago✨ (it’s really cool to watch the drive-in scene while sitting at the drive-in) Definitely has many references & parallels! I was shockingly surprised at how good Twisters came out, especially growing up watching Twister every storm we had. 🌪I’m so excited to watch this reaction🌪
Loved watching twisters at the drive in! My family got upset cause we went when it first came out and if we would’ve waited a little bit we could’ve seen twister and twisters in the same night like you did 😭
@@_trashmammal I actually go to see the second one a day early (July 18) as a solo. They did an early release & I literally left the next day for a 17 day vacation. It was just perfect timing, but I’m so happy I went a few nights ago! Seeing the first & immediately the second… I just picked up on so many more parallels within the movies🌪 if it ever happens again, I really hope you get a chance to go🤞🫶
@@rachaelmanning14 omg that is such perfect timing! Thank you so much 🤍 I’m glad you got to experience them both together I haven’t seen twister in so long it would def be a great experience to watch them both back to back!
Shouts to all the computer screen jockeys out there! 👊🏻 Also, they KNEW what they were doing with Glen Powell in that white t-shirt and Stetson in the rain. 😅
Apparently Steven Spielberg, who was Executive Producer, was the one who suggested the kiss be omitted. I would've loved a kiss but at least there is one they filmed flying around the internet to see.
Yeah, and I'm REALLY glad it was cut!! At the airport instead of having a big dramatic kiss, they hear a storm warning and decide to chase the storm. To me it says that their romance is based on the respect, appreciation, etc they have for each other and for each others intelligence, knowledge & passion they both have for the same thing - Rather than just romance, lust, etc... Not saying that it's not there; they clearly have chemistry and I'm sure they will go on to kiss and a whole lot more... But their feelings for each other are more than just that, and the seed from which feelings sprouted was in their respect for each other.
Saw this in the theater after surviving a storm in Texas that crushed 2 trees into my house. The fear of not knowing whats going to happen next and trying to stay safe and alive was so traumatizing. So the opening scene was very hard to watch. Had some ptsd happen because it put me back in that moment 😩
I don't care what Spielberg says about cutting the kiss scene because it was too "cliche", I felt robbed, thankfully they did film one, and it's everything, this movie is the perfect set up for a sequel, so I hope we get more of them there.
Haven't watched officially the movie, only your reaction but it seamed really good. But god, these tornado scenes had me stressed out. I think it unlocked a new fear for me.
I saw this twice in the theatre and it was awesome. It felt like you literally experiencing everything they felt. The only thing with the story is I wished we saw Daisy and Javi have a more sit down conversation about Javi’s experience. I know he technically wasn’t the “main character” but I would’ve love to seen his reaction in the beginning when everyone was dead except Daisy. Also did anyone else feel a “vibe” between Daisy and Javi?!
Reed Timmer's vehicle "Dominator 3" makes this one look like a Barbie Power Wheel. Definitely worth looking up. Drills into the ground and drops to avoid getting thrown from air going underneath. A hundred other awesome features, too.
True confession- been watching you guys on and off for quite some time. I especially enjoyed your IWTV reactions - but it was Glen Powell that finally made me subscribe
I just gotta say, as someone in the science field (student), that things like Storm Par are unavoidable. Javi is a good person and did his job with the best intentions (unlike Superman), but science research is so freaking expensive and often times the money comes from a 'bad' place. A lot of the time there are just no 'good' companies that want to invest. So although Storm Par gets their money from shitty people, if they were to find out something useful that could 'tame' tornado's, that would still be a good thing. So all in all, it sucks and it's just up to each person to figure out if the bad morals of the investors outweighs the potential of the research results.
The town of El Reno, OK is on the outskirts of Oklahoma City, and in 2013 was hit by the largest Tornado in history. Several stormchasers were killed, including friends of Reed Timmer's. Mike Bettes who is regularly on The Weather Channel was on scene, and the Chevy Suburban he was in was thrown across a four lane Interstate from the outer wind bands of the Tornado. He quit storm chasing after that.
I totally agree with you, Twister was everything to me, that movie was my childhood. I know it’s not the most perfect part in the movie but the cow in the sky was always my favorite part and I still hoped it would be in this one. It’s understandable that it’s not but still a bummer.
Thanks and *happy* *Labor* *Day* to Bryce and Rob! 🌪🌪🌪🌪🌪🌪 Cheers to director Lee Isaac Chung. This one is on par with, perhaps marginally better than, the original. I hope y'all react it, too, someday.
35:30 It makes sense. the science it pretty accurate from what i could tell but some of the things they do are things absolutely no stormchaser would ever do....And i dont think its ever been tried but if it were to happen it would take a ton more of the sodium polyacrylate substance than anyone can be fkd with. the amount theyre able to just have at their disposal is insane already i cant even imagine trying this irl🤣
I heard that some scientist somewhere (yeah, I’m great at citing my sources) said the consequence of trying it is so completely unknown that it does not seem like a good idea. I mean, you can’t just erase it and have the forces that cause it stop as well.
I read an article about the science in the movie and they said that even if we could find a way to stop a tornado we shouldn’t because it’s disrupting Mother Nature, it could also make things worse.
48:37 A lot of the destroyed buildings etc weren't sets - They used real towns, houses, etc that had been destroyed by tornados! The debris, rubbish, etc was placed there deliberately (presumably that stuff would've all been cleaned up post tornado), but the shells of houses, shops, etc were real buildings in real towns that real tornados had destroyed and hadn't been rebuilt yet (or possibly never will be rebuilt for some of them)
Hey guys :) Do you plan on watching Pleasantville? It's a classic and really fun to watch - with Tobey Maguire and Reese Witherspoon when they were young

Never saw the lead dude in a movie before but he is absolutely insufferable in this one. I hated that they implied a romance with him. She’s the main character. Isn’t the conflict of storm chasing after trauma and the land baron guy enough story conflict without her having to fall for such a typical-looking, obnoxious cowboy type? They turned an action movie into a chick flick. I was disappointed. I will give it one thing, though… since the Andover 1991 tornado footage came out showing people sheltering under an overpass, too many people have died thinking that’s the best place to hide from a tornado, when it’s one of the worst. This movie did start out making sure to show what really happens under there in a twister. I hope the word gets around this time.
First movie in a long long time that I walked out of. I was so so excited for Twister to finally get a sequel but (in my opinion, glad people are loving it) the characters were paper thin and there was zero chemistry between any of the smaller characters filling scenes. The CGI just didn’t look like it was part of the scenery either and the score was awful 😫 I am glad it found an audience but yeah. Hot garbage 😂

Sean Casey built the first tornado intercept vehicle (TIV1). The Dominator is modeled after it.
