Sharing my routine (I sat here and wrote this off the top of my head, hopefully I didn’t forget a step lol). Hopefully this helps with putting your products in order.
In the AM I apply cysteamine a few times a week now, as a mask, before I start my regular routine. Then I:
Cleanse
Tone
Mist (hydrating essence essentially)
Pigment inhibitor(s)
Serums/DNA repair enzymes
Moisturizer (if I use one that day)
SPF
At night
Cleanse
Pigment inhibitor(s)
Serums(including copper peptides)/DNA repair enzymes
Retinoid
Moisturizer
Typically I also use growth factors, but I’m out and I’m waiting to reorder. I have so much going on in my routine that I’m rearranging it all right now. This routine is a generalization….I switch things up when I need to based on how my skin feels, the products in front of me, whether I’m home or not etc.
XXPenn
would love to know which growth factors you use?
since you already did a video on copper peptides too, you could totally continue and turn this into a series where you focus more in on each individual skincare category you find important to your routine and why you pick the products you pick, what you look for, etc!
I love this idea 💗
@@PENNSMITHSKINCARE I do too!! Thanks for all the hard work you do in finding us products that work and work well! Keeps the total costs down which is ultra important to me as well. You are awesome!🥰
Penny you are always so helpful and patient with all of our questions and wishes.
You always look so beautiful with your make up, my questions is:
How you reapply sunscreen and keep your make up looking absolutely beautiful??
If it’s spray sunscreen, wish one does not irritate the eyes? If it is not mineral, my ayes are very upset and irritated. So I don’t use make up, because after the first reapplication of sunscreen it’s ruined. Please please some advice. I would love to be able to keep my make up looking good when I wear some.
Which one of these inhibitors do you like best?
Is one better for dry skin?
Are you doing the Platinum regimen?
If so, what do you think of it?
Are there cheaper dupes?
Love you ❤
FUN FACT: I've had hyperpigmentation all my life. It was charming as a little girl, not so much as a post-menopausal woman when it really started to present as age spots. I developed a perfectly round dark spot the size of a nickel on my cheek. So obvious it was from age, it was like jazz hands calling attention to itself. I was just learning about skin care and had wanted to use tretinoin for anti-aging, but didn't have a prescription. I saw Dr. Dray mention that over the counter Differin could be used for anti-aging. I decided to try it. After a few weeks, that nickel sized age spot started to raise up off my face. People were concerned it was cancerous, but I strongly suspected it was the Differin at work. I was right! It raised up and flaked off and hasn't shown any sign of reoccurrence in 2 years!
Differin is awesome!
Thank you so much for sharing!
Differin has quite a few products. Which one did you use? I have looked at the ingredients in the Differin Dark Spot Corrector and run them through the Incidecoder. Alcohol is the second ingredient in that particular product. Please share which Differin product produced those results for you.
@@PENNSMITHSKINCARE Penn, if I wanted to try the Differin on a couple spots as a spot treatment, would I need to stop using my retinaldehyde?
@@peachy75019I don’t think I would stop using retinal. Differin IS active vitamin A but only acts on ONE receptor (retinaldehyde converts to retinoic acid and works on 3 receptors). They likely work well together but you have to watch for irritation and back off the moment your skin feels irritated. It may not ever feel irritated….but if it does discontinue the differin and only reintroduce it after your skin is happy, and then less frequently.
Does this make sense? 💙💙
@@PENNSMITHSKINCARE Yes! Thank you so much. I think I'll give this a try before I change anything else because I do like the Queen 7in1 and would like to keep using it rather than change to one of the others ... I also have the Maelove Fade Away that I want to try on my arms to see what it will do. (Unfortunately I have 50+ years of sunworshiping to overcome so plenty of spots to experiment)
Hi Penny. You're never boring! I love it when you get into the sciency stuff. On the more affordable side, I've found that I like Naturium's "Multi-Bright Tranexamic Acid Treatment 5%". It has tranexamic acid, kojic acid and alpha arbutin, and also squalane, glycerin and a few oils, so it's nice and moisturizing. I use it as a moisturizer underneath my sunscreen during the daytime.
Wow, great recommendation, thank you so much for taking the time to share this with us.
@@sballantine8127 My pleasure! I love getting and sharing advice in the RUclips beauty space.
Hi Penn. thank you for this information… side question 😅 could you do a video with kind of what you eat / supplements / lifestyle? You look amazing … 💕
I second this ❤
Youre looking really great, Penn. Pls do a vid on whats changed in your world that are a direct effect of this change. Looks like youre working out?
I asked in comments what you use for pigment a few weeks ago, so really appreciate a full dedicated video on this! Thank you 🙏🏼
@@ShailaBano I’m so glad it’s helpful! 💙
Glutathione + 4-Butylresorcinol = Success for me, but it's a struggle finding affordable products containing both. Aobbiy was my gold standard, but it's been discontinued. Thank you for all you do, Penn! We appreciate you.
I agree those 2 are powerhouse ingredients!! I need to add 4-butylresorcinol to my list !! I forgot about that one
I love Dr. Idriss's Active Seal. It's my nighttime moisturizer that contains 4-Butylresorcinol as the 6th ingredient.
what glutathione do you use?
Penn, would you do a video and share with us the procedures you've had done recently? Just so your fans and followers can have an idea of what is truly making you look so gorgeous, products or procedures? I feel like I don't want to buy any products you recommend until I have an understanding of what procedures have shaped your beauty. Thank you
I just did last week 😊 ruclips.net/video/L0rkJe1W_Qs/видео.htmlsi=b11uU0C-PuetNr1R
The clock example was really helpful! Also please do an in depth video! Love hyperpigmentation related content from you. Thanks!! ❤❤
Excellent. Looking forward to the entire breakdown video. I have the fade bright and would like to know how you layer. I have been putting it on first as I want all the goodness to get right in there :). Thanks
I was wanting to know that same thing!
I love the Remedy line, have the Dark Spot , love it, they have some great products. My new favorite skincare line.
I been using Numbuzin #5 toner and serum in the AM SPF & Tretnoin at night
I’ve been working g for over a year to clear all the freckles off my skin arms chest everywhere lol … I’m so close!!! lol! Clothing sleeves giant hats too and glycolic acid lotion retinol lotion all over my body I gotta find that peptide 🤣 I’ve been trying to get to find the Euceurin dark spot correction Anti Pigment it’s got a new ingredient that’s supposed to be like hydraquinone… yes more videos about this!!!!
Do you mean *ectoin* as the new ingredient in the Eucerin?
It’s an interesting ingredient for sure!
FYI the new product from Prequel has Ectoin in it (might be a great alternative to the Eucerin) 💗💗
Thiamidol it says on the box is supposed to be a pigment inhibitor … but yes I have that prequel serum and it’s great! Wonderful plumper lol!!!
I am trying the eucerin thiamidol rn 😊
Where’d you find it at? How is it?
@@marionallen2222 I bought it off of the website. Only been using a week so far, so no input yet. But if anything dramatic happens, I will update 😊
Not many people say that MSH produced not only for melanin production but for cortisol as well - as a reaction to stress. Stress=hyperpigmentation
Thanks for doing this, beautiful lady.
I appreciate you being here with us !
I appreciate YOU Lena! 🫶🏼💗
I have been using fade Brite for many years now and I love it and you’re right get the bigger size I need not only to use it in my face and neck and chest, but on my arms and legs as well 🤦🏼♀️. I have found sadly, in your 30s and 40s you’re working on your face and your neck, by your 50s you worrying about your arms in your hands, by the time you reach my age of 76😩 basically you need a vat to dunk yourself in because there’s not a body part that doesn’t need attention😬. I’m exhausted trying to keep up.
As I suffer from melasma I took the plunge and tried the Fade Bright serum and I’m absolutely in love with this product. I saw results within days and the longer I’ve used it the better the results. I also have been using the Emu Oil from this line and it’s equally great as I suffer from eczema and it’s been a game changer in keeping my skin clear and hydrated. Thank you for the informative videos and product recommendations ❤️
When do you use this in your AM/PM routines? After cleansing but before serums? After serums? Thanks for this video. I have pretty bad melasma.
Exactly what I was going to ask!
you my dear look amazing. You look like you have been working out, lost a little weight and you look more gorgeous then ever!!!
My issue is with all the products you have AWESOMELY recommended, I feel like not every product gets absorbed because there are so many layers. For example, (at night) I cleanse, then use DRMTLGY needle-less serum, then a copper peptide, then retinol, then moisturizer. How in the world do u layer so many products while making sure they get absorbed? Even in the morning, my skin is very, very dewy from all those layers. In fact, I usually take a soft baby washcloth warm water to “wipe the products “off” so I can apply my am Epidermal Growth Factor (which u recommended & I love love love it!) I feel like I have to wipe the pm oriducts down so that the EGF gets absorbed😂Hope this all makes sense! I do wait a minute or two between layers…I even bought a mini fan which really helps!!! Love ur channel so very much❤I’m 54 & because of ur recommendations & sharing ur knowledge, my skin has honestly never looked better! I even get compliments on it! That’s all thanks to u👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Good question! I hope Penn addresses THIS and does a video on her routine. It can get overwhelming with so many products. But much great information from Penny❣️
I wait a minute between each layer so they dry so I feel they get absorbed.
Which EGF?
I will work on a video with my AM PM routine (I listed it in a pinned comment though if it helps). But please remember, no one needs EVERY product I talk about on this channel. I try to speak to *everyone* and that means as many skin conditions/types/issues as I can think of. That also means that lots of times a product I’m talking about doesn’t apply to you (you being general, not necessarily one of *you* in this thread). My routine has changed over the years but really….only a little.
As far as layering and product penetration- this is really individual. My skin drinks everything in- I could layer 6 things and only at the 6th do I start to look even dewy lol
I understand the concern….its like if I put XYZ on then ABC on too does B and C really even count?
Let me see if I can find a way to explain and prove (to you and even to myself) that it all is valuable, even the last layer.
I’ll work on that content!
Rub everything in- except for retinol and acids. Use mineral or fulvic spray to increase penetration.
Excellent info. Will try Platinum Fade Bright cause I do want to try a peel for the 1st time this fall. I did buy Dr Shah's Remedy for dark spots right after launched. I do Curology on my face, no issues. My neck and chest have decades of sun damage and at almost 60 it so sensitive that I just can't use tret, not even 1 time or it's all red and inflamed. MediK8 crystal retinal 6, three nights a week and Remedy 2 nights a week is chef's kiss for my neck and dec. No inflamed, angry red skin.
I want to do a peel this Fall as well. My nurse friend who injects botox & fillers told me not to get a peel in Summer.
Thanks for your explanation of Nonapeptide-1. It sounded familiar, but I never knew about how it worked. Checked my assortment of pigment inhibitors (I cycle through a variety to get all the good ones), and found that Allies of Skin Mandelic Pigmentation Serum contains the Nonapeptide-1 😊
Fantastic analogies, Penny. Clock one is hilarious 😂. Thank you
☀ Looking forward to the video of your full day and night routine 🌛
Hey Penny, awesome info as usual ❤ As a melasma sufferer, I swear I've tried all the inhibitors out there 😅 But the one I'm using now has definitely been picking up more traction online. It's the Eucerin Anti-Pigment line that uses their patented ingredient Thiamidol. Not sure if you've heard about it but so far I've been impressed and seen others have really good results. Worthy of a deep dive if you're exploring more pigment inhibitors to test out. 😊
I just ordered the dual serum and the night cream! Are you using both of those or just the serum? I didn’t get the SPF bc I have several European SPFs that I need to get through 😆
@@PENNSMITHSKINCARE that's wonderful! 🤗 Yup, I'm using the dual serum and night cream.
I am trying out the dual serum as well 😊 only beena week so far
yet again, your content is really super informative Penny, thank you.
I can’t try Dr. Shah’s line, as I live in Europe, but the problem with Remedy, in my opinion is that it just has basic retinol and not retinal, which is more efficient and much less irritating.
I probably won’t buy it anyway for that reason, but I will be getting FadeBright, it sounds incredible.
I agree, retinal is my preference as well!
There are derms and cosmetics chemists/formulators who will say formulation counts as well as ingredients (re: retinoids) though.
Oh I agree with that too! Formulations matter. I just typically prefer retinal in general 💙
@@PENNSMITHSKINCAREWhich retinal do you like best? Just this week I realized retinal is better than retinol. 🤦🏼♀️
So I like a few…
Naturium makes a really great one at a reasonable price- and it comes in 2 strengths.
Medik8 has an amazing line-up also in several strengths so you can graduate as your skin acclimated
Niche beauty lab has an affordable option although I’m not 100% sure I loved that one 😬 after using it a while
Those are off the top of my head (there are many more great options) 💗
Great information Penn. I use Fade Bright am & pm, tretinoin pm, and hydroquinone 4%- Obagi am & pm. I do Jessner peels for hyperpigmentation as well as TCA 20% from Platinum Skincare. ❤
Stacey
Is it ok to use fade bright underneath tretonoin ? That’s one thing I was waiting for Penn to mention. Do you find the platinum 20% TCA effective? I’ve never used a TCA at home , looking for the best one to use. Thankyou
Great info, Pemny! Where do you put this in your routine ? If I'm using copper peptides, Dermtlgy Need-less serum, retinol and a moisturizer where does this fit in?
I’m looking for your sunscreen recommendations. I’m so going to use your recommendation for the newly discovered sun damage. Yep ladies make sure you make sure you are getting that sunscreen all the way up into the hairline. Ugh. I’m using tretinon for the first time. I hate all the sunscreens I have been using. I feel like I need to just come see you as a client ❤
Hi Penny- great video! I believe peptides don’t penetrate the skin and the main activity is on the surface. As you mentioned, the process of pigment formation is initiated deep in the skin and it takes 40 days to come to the surface. I don’t understand how nano peptide 1 works.
Since Fade Bright has some Retinoil, I'd like to know if I can use it at night with my Tretinoin? Huge THANKS for this great info today as always.
Thank you Penn. You continue to be such a wealth of information!!!👏👏🙏🏻🙏🏻

Another great video!! I'm very much looking forward to the video on treating hyperpigmentation. I do a lot to prevent but haven't yet found anything to be effective at clearing dark spots.
Love the consistency of remedy. It feels like a serum and is not drying. I’ve tried fade brite (including the new formulation) and it always dried out my skin and broke it out :(
Sooo interested in Cellderma - any idea when you’ll have a discount code😬 This video was fantastic, thank you ❤
Still working on it now! Just having some technical difficulties getting the code added to their website, they have never offered a discount code to anyone before! As soon as we get it working I will update here 😊
Hi Penn! Thank you so much for educating us and sharing all this info in a digestible manner!! I can’t tell you how much I have learned throughout the last few years since I found your channel:).
I am 37, and hyperpigmentation is the number one issue for me personally. I have learned so much and I am literally throwing everything at it now lol. Also started doing PSC mandelic peels this summer (which I have loved so far), and planning on doing my first tca 13 in September. Anyway, just wanted to say how much I appreciate you, your knowledge, and the time you put into your videos!! ❤
Thank you, this means so so much to me!!
I have a box of the mandelic too- I’m going to give it a go in the next couple weeks 😍
My next actual peel is late September (will share so we can all do it together) 💗
Thanks for the great video! I am a visual learner, so your demonstration about receptors was helpful! FYI, I LOVE Fade Bright, it's an exceptional product. Also love the TCA and Jessner's peels.
I'm a long-time customer of Platinum (9 years) and can say their products, educational content, and customer support are top notch. When I've had to make the rare phone order, the business owner, Jennifer is unfailingly polite and helpful. The downside is when they have sales, the shipping costs increase for the same products. I've compared year over year, I pay attention to my budget. So while you may get a 25% discount, on average, the shipping will approximately double, which reduces the discount. I realize it's a small business, and it's tough to be successful, but I don't know if that's off putting to the consumer, so I thought I'd mention it so people are aware going in.
Two pigment inhibitors I love and tried are Undefined Day Serum, local woman (and POC)-owned business with a great cocktail of ingredients ($28). The other is numbuzin - No.5 Vitamin Concentrated Serum ($23).
I will 1000% pass this feedback on to Platinum! 🫶🏼💗
I believe if you sign up for VIP, shipping is free. 🤔
@@CherylE6119 Thank you, ☺ I am aware of the VIP, however, in my OP, my objection is a) why does the shipping cost nearly double when there's a sale (for the exact same items)? and b) VIP access is purchased, which negates the benefit of a sale. The annual VIP membership isn't a bargain if it has to be purchased, is it?
@RockeyToes With VIP, the cost of each product you purchase is much cheaper too so depending on how much you purchase it would be worth it or not. If shipping is double that would really cut into the discount. I did sign up for VIP so my discount on products was more during the sale and free shipping and two trial size samples instead of one. I think it probably really depends on how much you purchase if it's worth it. I'm not sure why shipping would increase during a sale unless it goes by weight 🤷♀️
@@CherylE6119 - I'm a long time fan & customer. To my understanding, the additional discount for VIP vs. non-VIP (during a sale) is 5%.
VIPs also get $10 off per shipment (it's not free).
I tracked previous sales (9-10 years worth), during the most recent sale in June, I noticed the shipping seemed high. I put only two items in my cart, and did a screen shot. When the sale ended, I put the SAME two items (TCA and Jessner's peels), same size (2oz bottle), in the cart, and the shipping dropped by nearly half. So comparing same to same.
Charging more for shipping for the exact same products doesn't track for me (your mileage may vary).
I appreciate your advocating for a small owner/run business, I like Jen, and the products. And I believe in supporting small businesses.
But truthfully, I'm not sure I understand the persistence on your part when I've clearly done the math..
To me, the VIP membership. Spending money to save money doesn't make sense (to me), but clearly you're passionate about it... 🙂
SOOO, so happy GlamGirlGabi introduced me to you. I would've never found you. I need this so bad.
Ahhhh I’m so glad too! I’m so happy you’re here 💗🫶🏼
Another GREAT video 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽. Love that you explained the MoA so plainly

Thank you 😊
Hi Penn! You always know just what I need! I’ve got malasma on both cheeks and use a hydroquinone prescription for 2 months then off 1 month. I use sunscreen daily and a sun hat when I’m out. I’ve been looking for something to use in my off month, I’m going to give one of these a try! Thank you!! ❤
Quick question. When you are using your hydroquinone, are you using it both morning and night?
Would love your opinion on Numbuzin no. 5 serum as pigment inhibitor.
Love this video-thank you! Do you know if the maelove peptide squad contains the nonapeptide 1? I don’t currently use a pigment inhibitor and now I want to start! Is it okay to use the fade bright in the AM even with the retinol? I thought products with retinol should only be used PM…
YES!! I was waiting for this too!!! ❤ I was eyeing the R&R serum you recommended from another video.
Hi Penn - I'm fairly new to your channel. I love it! Your content is extremely useful and personally, I am a big fan of the scientific portion. Looking forward to trying Cellderma & Cysteamine. Would like a deeper dive into the hyperpigmentation. Pigmentation is a thorn in my side!!!
Hi. I use a compound made with HQ-12%, kojic-6%, niacinamide 3% & vit c 2%. I have been using it for a year--8 wks on, 8 weeks off. Idk if it's helping much. I've been using it for a year. I do other things too. HP is so freakin hard to deal with. Thx Penn as always xx
I’m so sorry!! Interesting that you’re being cycled so soon….wonder why they’re doing 8 weeks instead of 12? I’d go down to 8% HQ (personally) if it meant I could stay on the medication longer to actually get through a couple skin cycles. What are you using when you are in your off 8 weeks?
Super video!! I love the different analogies and visuals 😊 It makes sense when explained this way and the clock and door will stick in my brain 😂
I see some others asked about copper peptides. I purchased the CP copper from Platinum. It is more for skin remodeling and has salicylic acid (which i have or deal with a little acne at times in my t-zone). Is this really beneficial for aging skin? 🤷♀️ How often should it even be used?
Thank you for reminding me! I am running low on the face theory serum that has a bunch of goodies in it!
Thank you ❤ I need a bucket of pigment inhibitor for my entire body 😫🤯 I can’t keep up 😂.
I have an Agency subscription that includes hydroquinone. I did not see improvement in my hyperpigmentation until my Agency provider increased the strength of my hydroquinone, and then it started showing nice improvement. Other inhibitors haven't had much effect, but l-ascorbic acid is helpful. I like Maelove Glow Maker and will be trying Prequel Lucent-C next.
I found that anything lower than 4% HQ never did much for me (when using HQ). I do think that some pigment is just incredibly resistant to anything but the super big guns…..ugh!!
I’m going to try the platinum one! I love that she sells such a huge size. I fly through my pigment inhibitors. I also really love lira pro lite serum! That one has many of the ingredients you mentioned. I messaged them to ask the % but they haven’t gotten back to me yet.

Thanks so much for all you do.

Thanks Penny, you are a wealth of information thx
Your hair looks so pretty! How did you style it to get the flat waves? It looks like finger waves 😍😍😍
This was such an informative video!! My nighttime routine is non existent. I have some products I use but usually it’s a struggle for me to not be lazy. I never know what to use together at night. Got my morning routing down pretty decent but my night one needs help. Never used a dedicated pigment inhibitor. But now I’m intrigued to try one. Do they also help to clear up red acne marks? I’ve never found a way to get rid of those
Is CoQ10 a pigment inhibitor too? Timeless makes a really good, affordable serum with this ingredient.
OMG, I am beyond speechless Penny!❤️Seriously I don’t see one wrinkle and you’re going to be 51. What spa treatments do you regularly to keep your face wrinkle free smooth texture?
It’s her facelift
And Botox and fillers
Hi Penny, I'm in my mid 30's with very fair, freckly skin. I already use tret 0.25%, niacinamide and vit c daily. My skin is pretty good but we get such little sun here in ireland that i do like to be out and about in the good weather. I'm diligent with spf. Should i keep these products like fade bright and remedy for my 40s or should I start to incorporate these into my skin care routine now? The women in my family all have jowls and their necks aren't great but i dont know if i should keep some of these in the back pocket to throw at those issues later? Lots of love from ireland ❤
Penn, thanks for all the info you share! Of all the things I've used to reduce and prevent hyperpigmentation, I've found the Photozyme DNA Youth Recovery (you kindly did a video on) to make the most noticeable difference to my freckles within a few months. I now also use a Curology mix of 10% Azelaic acid, 4% Kojic acid, 1% resveratrol, and 2% green tea extract most of the year. But it wasn't until the hydroquinone was added to the mix for 2 months, just to my age spots, that I saw a difference in those. Of course, I'm curious if anything you mentioned would be better than what I'm already using. And I want to add something for my arms and chest. Perhaps the one you mentioned for body would be best?
My advice for anyone who is interested is even if you have no problem with hyperpigmentation when you’re young, trust me you will when you get older. Get on prevention now if you can. I never had a freckle or spot on my body or face until I was about 55. Then suddenly where the sun hit my face while driving, I developed deep, dark spots, and now that I’m Over 60 I’m constantly fighting the battle against these dark spots. they sometimes appear overnight. I love celebrating birthdays, but I don’t like visible signs of aging. and uneven skin tone or dark spots come out in the best of us. For this reason this video was extremely interesting to me and I just might do that peel in September, which means maybe I will pick up the platinum product to prep for it. Thank you as always for a wonderful video Penny!
How would you suggest combining microneedling with these products as well as how much time to rest your actives before and after microneedling? thanks!
So glad you did this video Penny as I too have excessive hyperpigmentation on my face and décolleté. I’ve used TO Alpha Arbutin, Naturuim Transexamic Acid, I am on Rx Tret., also us Hydroquinone 4%. Almost out 😢 and also did my 1st Platnuim TCA 13 peel, no results😢. Can do my 2nd on in 2 weeks. I am going to order Fade Bright. Would you do your skincare routines showing how and when you layer your pigment inhibitors? Great dive into all the affective serums. Thank you 🙏
Did you notice any rebound pigmentation after your TCA peel? How was your peeling with that? I’m super interested in graduating from 50% glycolic peels to TCA but I have melasma and am super scared 😅
@@BlobNeon absolutely no “ Rebound Hyperpigmentation. This was my 1st peel and I did 2 layers and was a bit disappointed as my chest didn’t really ever peel but just a tiny bit. ( I was using hydrating serums and essences as well as Platinum Emu oil. Now my face peeled, but nothing like I expected and no diminishing of my larger dark spots and or the small spots🤷🏼♀️😞. I watched so many of Platinum Skincare videos on who is a candidate for which peels as well as taking their quiz, and TCA 13 was what was recommended. I do have some melasma along my jowls and underneath and very light along my hairline of forehead and I had no issues. I was really fearful of something going badly, and not knowing what to do, but it was so easy and it stung for just a few seconds during the 1st layer. I would be more fearful of the Glycolic peels myself. I hope this helps, if you have other questions, I’m here.
@@karlaharvey2623 So helpful, thank you!! 🙏🏻 I think I’ll buy the little trial of the TCA 13 and try it out when I have the guts lol. I just see some pretty gnarly peeling and for over a week in RUclips videos even at 13% and that’s not what I necessarily want. But I want results too, ugh. Thank you for sharing your experience.
@@BlobNeon that’s what scared me also, so I was shocked that I did not peel like I seen so many peel. I must have 40 yrs of dead skin built up. lol. Good luck.
Which serum would you recommend for sensitive skin? I tried Dermatology's Hydra Fader and even that irritated my skin 🤷♀️ Thank you for this video Penny!! ❤
What an excellent explanation!
Thank you so much!
I love fade bright, but since they’ve reformulated, my skin won’t tolerate it. 😭😭. I break out in small acne. I have no idea why! I don’t have sensitive skin and I use tretinoin, so I’m very accustomed to retinoids. I’m so so sad!
This was awesome, thank you so much for the recommendations. I have been having success with kojic acid and look forward to trying these products!
Ok….I just ordered the Fade Bright….So excited! I have sun damage from years of growing up at the lake and @66 years of age I’m realizing I can improve this….Question is…I’m in Canada….lots of different weather. I use Tretinoin @ night 3-4 times a week. I also use vitamin c and City Beauty cream
What order do I apply these during the day with my sunblock (I use a tinted physical. I find it works better SPF 50)
And at night what order do I apply.
My skin is pretty good but I still have occasional T zone breakouts🙁
Thanks….I’m new to this so if you already explained this just send me the link. Also… am I missing anything?
I’m trying to keep it kind of simple.
Hi!
Ok so fade bright is a light weight serum that really disappears in to the skin. Whenever you aren’t sure about which order line up your products (literally on the counter, line them up) and order them by consistency. Put the thinnest at the beginning and the thickest at the end. Another way to line them up (which often is exactly the same order) is the most clear product to the most opaque product. This is the order of application. For me Fade bright comes after I cleanse, tone, mist (essence) then Fade Bright. Then I go on to other serums (next for me is often humectants and photozyme) and then creams.
During the day SPF is always last before makeup if I wear it.
Does this help?
Im 55, have tan Asian skin with hyperpigmentation on my cheeks and melasma "mustache ". I've spent way too much money on various activesn cocktail formulas. I have "strong" non-sensitive skin and now want to spend my $ on truly effective "potent" product. I use L-ascorbic and Tret w/no issues and dint want to give that up. What products would you recommend?
Very educational. How about Adapalene by La Roche? Any insights you can share? And by the way, You are fantastic🌷🌷🌷Cheers from Redondo Beach🇺🇸🇺🇸
Great video again! I have used the DNA youth recovery and stop not sure why I stopped but I loved it ... I'm planning on bringing it back after you mentioned it in a couple of your videos. I was wondering if you can please help me with the way I would apply it. I use the Reviv serum at night so would the DNA go on top of the reviv Serum and in the morning I use the Ordinary Peptide Cooper serum. How would I use it in the morning before or after the ordinary peptide serum
I would use the photozyme after Reviv at night and honestly either before or after the Ordibary. I almost think the Photozyme is lighter than the Ordinary (it looks like a lotion but “melts” right away in to a serum don’t you think?)….so I think in the AM you can’t go wrong either way 💗
@@PENNSMITHSKINCARE that you so much for reaching back. And thank you for recommending the Reviv Serum on your videos. I love that serum
Yeah the Photozyme is lighter and does melt into your skin from what I can remember from using it. It is a nice product and it's so hard to keep up with products that you love when you want to try so many different one's
I have been super diligent with Cysteamine from Urban Rx after your video... and I am definitely seeing improvement... so so exciting --- also, fyi... when the pump acted as if it was empty... I cut the tube open and squeezed the remaining cream into a small jar... I still had almost a month's worth of product left!!!! Also, do you still like/ recommend a couple of serums that you recommended in previous videos -- Touch Bright and Clear, and/ or Queen 7 in 1 serum? I have both and have been using them since watching those videos a year or so ago... TY ❤🙏
Great tip!!
And yes, those products are definitely still great!!
Really it comes down to what clicks for each of us. Skin is so individual 💗
I have to mention sepiwhite (inci. Undecylenoyl phenylalanine). It’s the only ingredient that actually managed to eliminate a large brown spot that was on my cheek for years. I’ve already had ascorbic acid and arbutin in my routine beforehand. I can’t recommend a specific product because in this case I purchased the ingredient and used it in a serum I made for myself. But I’m sure it’s out there. It just never gets mentioned.
Thank you so much for sharing!! I’ve never used this ingredient that I know of 🤔
But you know I’m going to research it now! I really appreciate the recommendation!!
I'm totally counting on you 😊@@PENNSMITHSKINCARE
What can I do for nasolabial folds 😢
I’ve been using Cysteamine on your recommendation. The mask stinks, my towels stink, my skin still smells after I wash it off. After three months of nightly use I saw no difference. I bought Remedy dark spots so we’ll see how that works.
I understand this frustration. No difference is discouraging for sure! I think they say 16 weeks but regardless, I do think you should start seeing SOME improvement by 12 weeks.
Bummer 😞
Any Walmart or target products you recommend? TIA 🖤
Hi Penny! Have you heard of or tried the Mother Science Molecular Hero Serum? For me it’s been the most effective at fading my post acne marks and evening out my complexion.
Ok I have that one!! I’ve just tested it super briefly (played with it really, didn’t actually “test” it yet) but it has a beautiful consistency and I love their novel approach. It’s in line to be properly tested!
Thank you for sharing your experience 🫶🏼😍
Hi penny my daughter use Remdy pigment inhibitor at night. What I can give her to use at day time? She is 17. Should I give her vitamin c serum. Any product recommendations
I suffer of melasma 😢nothing can help me; I did several peels vi Peel and didn’t work. I have used hundreds of products and nothing. I even used cysteamine for 6 months and nothing. What product that you mention in this video can I apply in the morning? Thanks I really appreciate it.
Cystamine, serums, spf, wide brimmed hats, and gentle exfoliation never helped me either. My melasma was so dark and everywhere. I ended up getting a high percentage prescription for hydroquinone and that was the magic ticket to fade it. I took breaks like I was supposed to and then was able to use all those other things that didn’t work to fade it before now as maintenance of my results. It never goes away but I certainly saw an 80% decrease which had made all the difference. Cystamine, unfortunately never did much before or after 🤷🏻♀️
Concerning the Platinum Fade Bright, would the ingredients be of sufficent amounts that you would not need to use separate Kojic acid, niacinamide, Azelaic acid, resveratrol? TIA
I'm 38 & i have so much sun spots develop since covid as i stopped all actives due to trying for baby then had baby last year and still nursing.
Currently only using 20% azelaic acid cream. What else can i add in?
I'm stopping breastfeeding now slowly. I am covered in these little freckles everywhere. Got worse last 2 yrs
Happy to see another informative video from you ❤
I have a ?.. Can this treatments be used in the underarm area?
Yes but I would do one underarm and patch test for a few days to check for irritation 💗 before going full steam ahead
Hi Penny, i have a question for you. I also have hyperpigmentation (years in the sun). I just bought the fade bright, so we'll see how that goes -- i really want the cell derma, hoping it comes to the us soon! But here's my question: I've recently been told about an ingredient that sounds like it works just like these inhibitors you've described -- have you ever heard of an ingredient called Sepiwhite? If so, is it just a repeat of one you've described here?
Great Video!! This is out of left field, but maybe you can help. I have Angular Chiitis, painful cuts in the corners of the mouth. Most say to use an antifungal cream. Do you have any experience with this condition? I'm wondering what to apply for this. Thought it can't hurt to ask. Thanks
Oh my gosh I’ve had this before and it’s no fun!!!
A couple winters ago both corners were split and I was miserable. I used Hypocholorous acid spray and an ointment called cerabalm- and they healed up.
They may be saying antifungal cream bc of candida- that’s going to be from saliva. So keeping the splits protected from saliva is key (and hard since it’s your mouth!!). Vaseline or aquaphor help protect, Hypocholorous acid spray between applications of Vaseline.
Did they talk to you about B vitamins? If you get these chronically I’d look at your nutrition too (I am not a nutritionist, I just know that I had to assess my nutrition 💙).
Also, keeping yourself hydrated helps bc dry lips crack more easily than healthy, hydrated lips. Whenever I am not getting enough water it shows on my lips….that might be you too.
I hope they clear up soon, I know they are painful and frustrating!!
@@PENNSMITHSKINCARE Thanks So much, I had broken my foot and could not exercise for 4 months. Just this week I'm starting back and always bring a big thing of water to class and drink it all. My mouth seems to be getting better?? Maybe a lack of water before had something to do with it, as if I'm home I wont drink water, hard as I try. I've noted the medication you mentioned. Thanks for taking the time to reply, I really appreciate it.
Could you tell us about the chest peeling in the fall?
Yes! I’ll do another video and share more details ahead of time. My plan is mid/end of September.
Hi Penny❤. For some reason I can't get my code for Platinum. Any ideas?
Great analogies!!!
I’m a licensed esthetician in IL. I’m consumed by skincare and makeup-always looking for something to try!! I have ZO by Obagi, Osmosis, Environ, some Drmtlgy, Hydropeptide, Image, some PCA-do you have a number 1 favorite brand or product? I’m 63-my skin still breaks out.
Hi! First off thank you for being here 🫶🏼
Favorite brands…..I’ll name some that are lesser known that are worth looking up as an esti:
Noon (pure WOW ingredients)
Photozyme (best for DNA repair enzymes)
Sachi their Triphala product looks so good
I love obagi- it’s an oldie but a real goodie!!
Thank you so much! I took a snap shot of these to look them up!! Also-I saw a video that you have used Osmosis foundation. I am having such a hard time finding one since my favorite one has been discontinued. It was Dior Capture Totale-thank you!!
Should you use Vitamin C and a pigment inhibitor?
I just use Musely for this
Hello thank you for all the information you give us . I’m going to Greece for a month in the sun & heat .😀 can I use my tretinoin there or should I just use something lighter .
Also can I use my vit c with skin brighter ????
Hi!
So yes you can continue your vitamin A (for sure). Vitamin A is protective believe it or not! You do need to be extra vigilant with your SPF. I recommend hitting up a Pharmacie right away and picking up a sunscreen in Greece because the filters available are SO MUCH BETTER than the US.
You can definitely use vitamin C with the pigment inhibitors 💙💙
You forgot Thiamidol. I have tried most of those things you mentioned plus hydroquinone and nothing has worked as well as thiamidol.
Thank you! I’ll add it to the list 💙
Hi Penn, are you still recommending Truth’s Bright & Clear Cream? I’ve been using it every morning, but I may also purchase the Fade Bright. How do they compare? Thank you Penn ❤
Yes, that is an excellent option!
I’ll compare ingredients. For me right now the fade bright is better as a layering product…but it is more expensive. Its more important that you can use it AM and PM consistently in
my opinion. Budget counts, I get that completely!!
So the touch product has tranexamic acid, kojic, niacinamide and azelaic acid (amazing ingredients)
Fade bright does have arbutin and HPR as well as resveratrol….
I think fade bright is more potent BUT it’s literally $20 more for the same amount…..
I can’t tell you how to spend your money but I do think the fade bright probably wins by just a little….but they’re both really great options!
Thank you thank you thank you for this content! I struggle so much with melasma & hyperpigmentation. Living in AZ does not help🫤 I finally got serious and purchased a product from my derm with hydroquinone, kojic acid, and a small amount of trentinoin, which I use at night. I really need something for daytime. Is it ok to incorporate one of these for daytime while using hydroquinone? TIA❤
Yes you can definitely do one of these in the AM (and what you have going on PM is perfection).
I would go gentle during the day…fade bright or look at Sachi Skin Triphala- I just got it and it looks and feels so nice on the skin 💗
@@PENNSMITHSKINCAREWonderful! Thanks again for all the great info. I will definitely check these out🥰
