    New home. I have an 85 p series vizio on the living room wall and was going to put theatre speakers in and above us. (Cut in drywall). Wife is afraid of vibration/cracking walls. So instead of a receiver I was thinking I would just buy a nice sound bar like the ambeo as I want to eliminate as much wires showing as possible with rear speakers etc. I have a new Xbox and a PS4. I should be able to connect them the same way you did in this video through the soundbar correct? I believe the tv and soundbar have earc so I’m assuming I would use them? One last thing is I was going to get zone 2 with my initial surround sound to have some music outside as I ran speaker wire from the living room to my outside deck for speakers. Do I lose that without the zone 2 on receiver?

    Using this setup I, when I go into Xbox (series x) tv settings it says 4K is blocked either from a receiver or sound bar. (I’m using a soundbar)

    If i plug my device direct to sound bar hdmi to get the sound and use the sound bar hdmi port to display image to tv will it support 120hz

    • @davidh8755
      @davidh8755 3 года назад +1

      It depends on the sound bar. Not all sound bars support true 4k HDR pass thru. And even if they say they do...some only support 60hz vs 120hz screen refresh rate that your tv may be able to do. Then it gets even trickier...some 4k HDR pass thru sound bars will only support regular HDR and not HDR 10 or HDR 12 like some people's TV's can do. So unless you have a sound bar that supports the correct 4K and/or HDR output that your device and tv use for their max performance, it's not worth it. And alot of people don't know about this problem, and it ends up degrading their TV picture quality by running something thru their underperforming sound bar to their TV. The best solution for this problem would be just to use your TV's HDMI ARC if you have it. ARC stands for Audio Return Channel. Basically its a 2 way audio port and would only require 1 wire running from your TV to the sound bars HDMI ARC. Then you would just keep your connected device's straight into your TV. But the major downside to using HDMI ARC vs HDMI is that it only supports upto 5.1 Dolby compressed audio and not the higher end stuff such as DTS or say Atmos etc. etc.. So basically in the end for the max performance, if your sound bar supports your TV's full 4k capabilities then you should run your device thru the sound bar using the HDMI direct connect method and then out to your TV's HDMI input to get both the best sound and picture. But if your sound bar doesn't fully output what your TV can do then you want to use that HDMI ARC method that I described earlier. Sorry so long I just wanted to inform others of other extra tidbits as well. If you guys have any other questions please feel free to ask.

    Hey boss. Got a question. So I just bought a smart house. Every room has surround sound as well as hard line internet connection. And for whatever reason everything I hook up works great. But my Xbox. It will only play out of the tv speakers. I’ve watched all your videos that has anything remotely close to what I’m trying to do. I mean how difficult can 2 hdmi cables be. Any help from anyone would be great.

The vizio v60 "i believe is the model" only has one hdmi port and an arc cable.. is there anyway to make this work? It says atmos is hdmi only so i figures if i got a splitter it may work that way but still no luck. If you can give me a holler and maybe u can get me on the right track.. thanks
