    Thank you so much for this. I don’t need a 40 minute video going fully in depth. In 4 minutes you explained the mechanics behind the mechanism and helped me identify that I just needed to adjust my cable. Thank you!!

      I agree, I don't like seeing 30 minute videos with only 4 minutes of useful information

    Great video! The explanation showing the belt and how it works is perfect. Turns out the belt on mine had come off of the spindle but it was still in good shape and intact. Taking off the housing with 2 hex bolts and reseating the belt and reattaching the housing, fixed the self-propel. Easy fix. This avoided so much heartache. Thank you so much!

      I've had a lot of videos I wanted to make. I finally found the time to get them published. Usually, by the end of July the weeds are going crazy and the grass is semi dormant. July has been cooler than usual and we have had plenty of Thunderstorms rolling through to water the grass. I do feed the lawn with corn gluten meal. No pesticides.

    Lemme guess. The underneath chamber that holds the drive mechanism has let in enough dirt and clippings to form a cementous mixture and completely jammed it up?

    After replacing the drive cable I reassembled the Smart Drive control but it doesn’t engage the transmission, instead the lever rotates completely around the handle. Any suggestions?

      Maybe the pin in the handle is not catching? ruclips.net/video/ImPe3vdtfrY/видео.html

      @@Know-How-Now yes I think that is the problem. I used the RepairClinic video as the guide to replacing the cable. Perhaps I now need to replace the twist accuator as it doesn’t seem to hold the pin in place once the levers are adjusted. Thank you.
      Thank you .

      I found out what my problem was- I had attached the end of the drive cable to the transmission before I attached it to the Smart Drive controller. This put too much tension on the controller so the pin did not properly seat in the adjustor . You must attach the drive cable to the Smart Drive controller and completely reassemble the controller before attaching the cable to the transmission. Once everything is put back together you make your final adjustments on the adjustment turnbuckle.

    • @Know-How-Now
      @Know-How-Now  8 месяцев назад

      If you haven't taken the wheels off/changed anything, then it's likely gunked up. There is a gear with a spring and key in each rear wheel.

      Thanks for the reply. I actually went in looking for that and they weren't there. I'm working on a HRN216WYA. What I discovered was that the L shaped ratcher (Honda part #42669-vR8-N01) was missing. Luckily I found one on a spare parts unit I hadn't stripped clean yet and got it propelling again .

    These honda self propelled mowers have a GIGANTIC FLAW! Honda in their infinite wisdom decided a tiny red straw inside the fuel line would work well as a fuel filter. NOPE! it lets crap clog up the tiny little jet inside the carb and your honda is dead in the water. So to avoid this issue you have to put a real fuel filter inline with the fuel hose. Unfortunately I have searched everywhere to find a super short filter with the right inlet and outlets...And let me tell you thats about as rare as hens teeth. The amazon filters i ended up with have a tiny inlet /outlet that are so short they only have 1 single barb so of course they pop off and let all your gas leak out. Had to JB weld the POS filter just to sort of get it to fit!
    And on a side note I cant stand the jig saw puzzle that is the carburetor and all the crap that mounts to it. I hope yall never have to take one off because you need 3 hands and some reference pictures to put the damn thing back together. I am EXTREMELY disappointed in honda. Will never buy another one of these mowers!!!!
