Cool solution and cool orange T-shirt. I remember seeing in some video that it's a good idea to give some angle between the direction of motion of the belt and the table, keeping the surfaces (table and belt) perpendicular. Doing this you'll be wearing the belt in a more homogeneous way.

Well now that Ive read the comments it looks like im def not the only person inquiring about the belt change. You should do a vid on how to change the belt. New sub here and love your vids! Really creative and is inspiring me to do some of this myself. Cheers!!

Thanks for the kind words Jeff. I appreciate it.
Belt changes are easy, just remove the few screws that hold the machine down and change as you normally would.

I found an OLD belt sander at a yard sale for $2. Plugged it up and checked that it worked before I bought it. I was excited. I finally picked up a belt for it today. Only thing is....the sander takes a 16" belt. I can't find a belt to fit it now. So, I am shopping for a belt sander again.

remove 6 screws and the sander is mobile again. Takes less time to change the belt than put a dado stack in my table saw. In the description :)

Dusty air flow can be improved using the 'Franklin' effect, designed for the 'smoke free chimney'. Basically by restricting, tapering and shaping the air intake, it speeds the rate of movement of the air across the nearer surface and increases the efficiency of the dust collection, clearing of the intake and reach of the surrounding area.

Nice jig. Please ditch the music - it’s really annoying. Also be aware that at some point, it might be desirable to use your belt sander in a vertical position, or a horizontal position (I.e., on its back). Good work, as always. Best wishes.

  • @ginoasci2876

just my 2 cents, not a suggestion, im just wondering if it wood work if it could also turn the whole assembly 90 degrees clockwise to have two directions for sanding. your design has square flat surfaces so it could easily sit flat on it's right side so the sanding force is downwards. in some cases not fighting the side wards pressure is easier. then flipping it back to your original position and reattaching the original table. youd have two mmachines in one if its not too complicated. like i said, just my 2 cents.
