If it isn't obvious I just want to say that I think the progression of this song heavily reflects the behavior and legend of the Siren creatures. Starting as a gleeful sea shanty and eventually becoming a more soothing romantic song as they approach the Sirens and become allured by their image before finally ending with the unsettling ambience as the Siren ensnares it's prey. I am not sure how much the lyrics really portray this but just from the sound this is what I'm getting from it. Overall really unique song, glad to see Nelward doing longer songs again.
I knew sirens were creatures in mythology but I did not know anything about them. Reading about them now and am freaking out at the coincidence. Thank you for your great analysis.
@@Nelward64 thanks dude. I only knew about Sirens because of Ice Age 4 (and an occasional bad reading of Homer's Odyssey in 7th grade) lmao. But that is pretty funny how well it lines up. I honestly thought it was intentional.

this is a fucking masterpiece. I tough fashion was your bohemian rhapsody, but boy was i wrong. Mixing my favorite aspects of music into one whole song, bossa nova, chill jazz 6/8 and waltz 3/4 time signatures, and a ambient part for the outro. Nick, thank you for sharing your music with us. And i cant wait for what you make next. Your music means a lot to me, Compared to other artists ive listened to, its really special. I get such vivid feelings from listening to your songs, specially with feeling better. I dont know how i would have passed this boring quarantine without cosmic relief and girl im so sorry bro. Somehow there's no way to expect what you'll make next, but at the same time know it'll be something great. Like small stories that span genres completely forgotten about, yet crisp and fresh with each song. I'll never understand how you do it but, Thank you for continuing to make music after this long and stay golden Nelward.

maybe its just bias from the music but that last image of the snowy forest is really unnerving to me. it looks like its just in the middle of nowhere, like if i got lost on a road trip and there seemed to be no one else around, it would be there not far off to the side. it feels like if i were to try to walk through it would just be endless trees with no other signs of life around, just myself, silence and the feeling of something being horribly wrong and it just makes this last part really disturbing to me.
incredible song though, really happy and adventurous feel for the first chunk of the song, and my favorite part 2:09-3:45 had such an emotional impact thats kept me looping the song since it came out. always excited for new music from you because its always incredible, excited for your next release whenever it happens

I hear 2 songs while listening to this on the upper layer I hear a happy and bouncy song and then underneath there is a hint at a more sinister and dark theme and I think the way they are balanced here is amazing I can’t get enough

this simply reminds me that i wouldn't last two seconds on the open sea because the sirens would have my ass instantly and id never be seen again. sweet singing voices are quite a powerful weakness of mine. also, love how this song greatly reminds me of what is probably my favorite music album just in general, Hawaii Part ii.

I listened to this song relentlessly on Spotify this year, usually during work. That doesn't say great things about my mental state, but it says a lot about how brilliantly this song captures an emotion I'm not sure I want to try and put into words. It was a lifeline for me while I was suffocating as politely as I possibly could.
Nelward, its incredible how every one of your songs never fails to leave me dumbstruck on first listen. It's really a testament to your creativity while retaining that same indescribable nelward feel. Alright gonna listen to this one until it's the only thing I can hear good job
