Agreed 100%. Lex is awesome. In fact these two are so diametrically opposed in the way they listen to music... it's why I come back to them every day. They seems like great people, and I get a kick out of them.
This was a great (3rd) album, but you should react to more songs off of their 2nd album, "High n' Dry". Songs like, "High n' Dry (Saturday Night)", "Let it Go", "Another Hit and Run", "No No No". Def Leppard was pretty rockin' back in the day, especially their first 3 albums.
This album got me into rock n roll at 8 years old. It blew me and everyone else away and opened my eyes to so much other great music. When you listen to Def Leppard's full catalogue from 1979 to today, you they have their own unique sound but there is a wide range of musical sounds. The sounds of their musical heroes of their youth can be found everywhere, which is one reason why they are so great.
As for tributes to their musical heroes, around 2000 the singer and lead guitarist formed a tribute band called "Cybernauts". Their studio recordings of covers like "Moonage Daydream" and "All The Young Dudes" are stellar. Same amazing sonic clarity in the audio production of the vocals as you would expect from Def Leppard, and the guitar shredding at the end of ""Cybernauts" - "Moonage Daydream" is spectacular.
Man talk about vibes. I was sitting on my porch yesterday evening and this car drove by playing Motley Crue too young to fall in love and my mind went straight back to 10th grade.

"Foolin'" has a bit of a darker tone to it than most of Def Leppard's hits. In fact, I'd say that it and "Too Late For Love" are their two darkest songs to get substantial radio airplay. One thing I've always liked about Def Leppard is their rich vocal harmonies. Producer "Mutt" Lange really brought out the best in them. If you like the sound of their vocal harmonies, give "Promises" a listen. It was a surprise radio hit for the band in the summer of 1999. Though "post-grunge" and "nu-metal" dominated rock music at the time, "Promises" was a throwback to the 1980s, and the vocal harmonies sound perfect. Pyromania was their last good album in my opinion. I was in 5th grade and had a black Pyromania iron-on shirt. Their previous albums before pyro were good to
True pyromania was departure from their earlier stuff but still had the essence of their more raw early songs which were heavier, or sometime more progressive even

I know they have some dates in Florida so you two should go ! The music will be great and the people watching will be phenomenal !!!..keep those 80s rock reactions coming !
Yeah, I never liked anything they did after this album. Their first few albums were there best, then no matter how hard the nostalgia for their old sound drew me to try, I could never get myself to like their later stuff.
I was 14 when this came out. Good memories of hanging out at the Dunes in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The Dunes are located off Lake Michigan where kids in the 1980’s would have a bon fire and party. I love watching you guys. Lex cracks me up!
This is early 80s Def Leppard. Later 80s brought a new sound with the album Hysteria. They went thru somewhat of a sound transition and carried that into the early 90s.
First three albums, ESPECIALLY High N Dry and Pyromania, are FAR more metallic and even a bit of a punky edge too, than anything after that. My personal fave is High N Dry, close 2nd Pyromania, third is their first album, On Through The Night. After Pyromania, they mellowed out a lot, perhaps due to drummer Rick Allen losing his arm. I mean, kudos to them for sticking with him and altering what they did, to accommodate him, but their edge definitely got dulled in the process.
Perfect post I was born in 1970 your order of albums is mine love High an’ Dry…not a fan of anything after Pyromania….people went nuts for Hysteria when I wan in High School I was umm just OK but the girls really dug it so kept the cassette in the car…lol
More love songs to check out Hysteria,When love and hate collide, Have you ever needed someone so bad,Miss you in a heartbeat (either version), two steps behind (either version),Goodbye,Guilty,Promises,It's only love, stand up kick love into motion.
They used to play this video on NBC's Friday Night Videos every week back before MTV was ever out. First Def Leppard song I ever learned on the guitar! My number 1 band!
I have always loved the Def Leppard sound. I still listen to them. Animal and Hysteria are my favs but Photograph is just so good sounding. Brad summarized the sound best when he said "feels like 80s freedom, like riding bicycles". Exactly.
lol this song was my jam when I was 12 years old... 31 years ago.. i had a denim jacket with a Def Leppard patch on the back that I loved more than anything, except the Ibanez Roadster II that my cousin lent me so I could start taking guitar lessons. He died last year RIP
I think their first two are better. This i rank third. Pete willis absolutely ROCKED on guitar. The terror twins are awesome but something about Willis and his riffs. Listen to the first album. So young and loud!!!!!
Early Def Leppard is harder rock, a little rougher around the edges but in a really good way. The changed their music style a bit after the accident and they began to appeal to a broader group of listeners. Those changes resulted in their becoming superstars.
Def leppard's first album was part of the NWOBHM (New wave of british heavy metal) movement along with bands like maiden, tank, Blitxkrieg, etc, They moved to a more radio friendly vibe after that album. Hard riffs like this one are buried deep but sometimes break through.
In 1983 Def Leppard were just finding their sound after their first 2 albums failed. Producer Mutt Lange helped polish and refined the sound that would be realized on their next album Hysteria.
Always felt this was a cool unique song with essentially ~5 choruses / pre-choruses / post-choruses. "Anybody out there...", then " Oh, just gotta know...", then "F-Foolin...", then "Won't you stay with me awhile" or "I'm not foolin myself". All could stand on their own as effective choruses. Super smooth transitions between the sections and just an extremely hook-filled piece. Really cool song structure.
Honestly DEF LEPPARD is a top-10 band in R&R history. The sheer number of hits they had. I cant think of many other band maybe aside from like Fleetwood Mac, Beatles, Zeppelin, Metallica, Aerosmith, Queen, Van Halen... Def Leppard just had so many hard hitting bangers!! Photograph, Rocket, Animals, Love bites, Too late for love, Bringing on the heartbreak, Hysteria, Pour some sugar on me, Foolin, Armageddon it!! SO MANY HITS!!!
People often forget that the Pyromania album was an awesome album. Great songs from start to end. As far as back to back albums go...good luck on topping Pyromania and Hysteria.
I don't know. I don't think anyone who was around when it came out would forget how good it is. Pyromania is the album that really put them on the map.
Great reaction! You’re working your way back to the best Def Leppard album in my opinion. It’s called “High and Dry” and is quite a bit harder than what you’ve heard so far. Not Metal, but Hard Rock as opposed to Pop Rock. Every single song is great, but my favourite is “Let It Go”! This is definitely the longest comment I’ve ever left.
This hit when I was in 7th grade and if you turned the radio dial at that time at any time you'd hear at least 3 Def Leppard tracks. Def Leppard played 3 times an hour for months. Those were the days let me tell you.
Ah, real Def Lep. I did like Hysteria, but it was clear that was a very commercial album. Pyromania was in my opinion their best, closely followed by high and dry. These lads put on the best ever live performance I have ever seen (hysteria), ranking higher than Metallica (and justice), Pantera (vulgar display), Nightwish, The Cure, and even Sabbath (heaven and hell) when they came out just before Dio passed.
Hey brad, I have the same name so you have to listen, I see you like Dolores so much so I highly highly recommend reacting to the cranberries playing for the npr tiny desk concert thing. It’s literally the cranberries up close and personal singing live and there’s only like 10 people watching so you don’t hear a bunch of people cheering and stuff you can really just appreciate her voice live. Plus it’s one of the last live performances she did before she passed away. Anyways it’s a great video and if you like def leppard I recommend my 2 favourite extremely underrated songs HYSTERIA and TWO STEPS BEHIND. Those were a bit more low key songs than their other songs but they were still big hits.
Hey guys what's up! Greeting from South Florida! This album brings me back to 10th grade. This is my favorite song off this album. You guys rock! God bless you! Peace!

Lex, I love your synesthesia! Somehow it brings to words why and how I like a song but could never really describe why in my own words
From “On Through the Night” to “Hysteria”, you could follow the maturation-arc of this band. Def Leppard owned the late 80’s.
If you want to get the feel for a concert in the 80s….there is a great chance this summer with the Def Leppard/Motley Crue/Poison/ Joan Jett stadium tour !! I know they have some dates in Florida so you two should
go ! The music will be great and the people watching will be phenomenal !!!..keep those 80s rock reactions coming !
Love ur smile during the song Lex, i feel just the same eveytime i hear Def Leppard ❤❤
i recommend the song "Two steps behind" if you want a slower love song from Def Leppard.
They were heavier in those days and so good live.... Older DL is da best DL.... great memories from this song.....
Too Late for Love, Die Hard the Hunter, God's of War, Mirror Mirror, Coming Under Fire, Another Hit and Run. If you want slow, Long Long Way to Go
One of my favorite track's off of Pyromania, so many good songs off that album
This came out when I was in the 6th grade , about 12.. Definitely a game changer for me and many people!
This was back when DL was considered metal. Sadly, those days are gone. They're more pop music now.
Yeah, I never liked anything they did after this album. Their first few albums were there best, then no matter how hard the nostalgia for their old sound drew me to try, I could never get myself to like their later stuff.
Such a shame. Their first 3 albums were SO good.
I was 14 when this came out. Good memories of hanging out at the Dunes in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The Dunes are located off Lake Michigan where kids in the 1980’s would have a bon fire and party. I love watching you guys. Lex cracks me up!
Back at that time (and I'm lucky I grew up with this music) Def Leopard couldn't miss! They put out one banger after another. Love DL
With the earliest videos you're missing the best part. The drummer just chilling in his Union Jack boxers.
Takes me back to being 17 in 1984 and all the good times the 80s had for me and my friends.
This is early 80s Def Leppard. Later 80s brought a new sound with the album Hysteria. They went thru somewhat of a sound transition and carried that into the early 90s.
Their run of albums with High N Dry, Pyromania and of course Hysteria were awesome. Great sounding albums sonically
@@ugaais lol exactly
Exactly.
regarding Lex's wrap up, My daughter said: "OMG I've *NEVER* heard anyone with analogies as detailed and specific as you, dad"
That "other sound" you were referring to is the sound of a band selling out and going full commercial.
Def Leppard is coming to Orlando June 19th 2022 guy’s.
lol this song was my jam when I was 12 years old... 31 years ago.. i had a denim jacket with a Def Leppard patch on the back that I loved more than anything, except the Ibanez Roadster II that my cousin lent me so I could start taking guitar lessons. He died last year RIP
'Pyromania' is definitely their best album🤘
Nope, High N Dry
Yes, by a mile
@@JWCFB BOTH albums are Great .
I think their first two are better. This i rank third. Pete willis absolutely ROCKED on guitar. The terror twins are awesome but something about Willis and his riffs. Listen to the first album. So young and loud!!!!!
Overture by Def Leppard is their BEST song!!! Thumb me up! Well it's the most beautiful song. Can't beat Photograph of course.
Early Def Leppard is harder rock, a little rougher around the edges but in a really good way. The changed their music style a bit after the accident and they began to appeal to a broader group of listeners. Those changes resulted in their becoming superstars.
So true..,Mutt Lange really made them sound veery pop!
Def leppard's first album was part of the NWOBHM (New wave of british heavy metal) movement along with bands like maiden, tank, Blitxkrieg, etc, They moved to a more radio friendly vibe after that album. Hard riffs like this one are buried deep but sometimes break through.
I don't think High N Dry was necessarily radio friendly. That kinda started with Pyromania, and then just got ridiculous with the subsequent albums.
It just never gets old! Foolin' is one of my Favorites...Pyromania...awesome stuff.
In 1983 Def Leppard were just finding their sound after their first 2 albums failed. Producer Mutt Lange helped polish and refined the sound that would be realized on their next album Hysteria.
Lexi knows good music when she hears it. 😎
the guy just ruins the reactions,..He doesn't let himself go into the Music,.
I'm glad I don't have that problem,.The World's cold enough~
Always felt this was a cool unique song with essentially ~5 choruses / pre-choruses / post-choruses. "Anybody out there...", then " Oh, just gotta know...", then "F-Foolin...", then "Won't you stay with me awhile" or "I'm not foolin myself". All could stand on their own as effective choruses. Super smooth transitions between the sections and just an extremely hook-filled piece. Really cool song structure.
For me Coming under fire 🤘
This album came out when I was starting my senior year in high school. The album is killer
YAAASSS....Absolutely my jam in my teens. Blue jean jacket metal pins, fingerless gloves, torn up jeans and aviators.....lol
I love when Brad tries to translate Lex's thought on a music video. I love these 2....😊
I was 12 in '83 was when I first heard this cassette at my best friend's house playing his brand new ColecoVision. Amazing memories.
First hard rock song I ever heard, back in 1984... the music video was surreal for me (I was 7 😁)made a huge impression.
This song touch in the soul
They have a new song out now called”kick” take a listen to that one!
This hit when I was in 7th grade and if you turned the radio dial at that time at any time you'd hear at least 3 Def Leppard tracks. Def Leppard played 3 times an hour for months. Those were the days let me tell you.
I’ve been watching a couple of your videos. Thank you for giving Def Leppard a listen. Love your reactions
There's that little rock and roll Gremlin inside of Lex! She should be on TV.
I love the way lex breaks it down then stacks it back up
He's British. From Sheffield, I think. Trust me, it's not the food.
One of my favorite songs by them
Ah, real Def Lep.
Peace!
Man, I haven't listened to Def Leppard in years! Thanks for bringing this back to me!
that's funny at the end when Lex is talking about someone else's food and Brad is trying to get the connection it makes me laugh
A different side? This is THE side. "Mirror Mirror" and "Another Hit and Run" are this side's absolute best.
Hell yeah! High N Dry with Pete Willis 🤘🤘
I grew up with the Pyromania album (one of the best albums ever with one of the coolest album covers ever). My dad always had it on (actual vinyl!). It is one of those albums you can put in, and never touch anything but the "Play" button.
