Stephen is missing because he is the tallest friend and was very hungry when they were going to record this so they had to tag him out for the rest of the cast's safety. The cryptid has since been appeased with home-grown tomatos and fanta orange.
That metallic taste from the macaroni was probably from the pasta not being fully drained of water before being put in the pan. Odds are you got the noodles scraped from the bottom/side of the pan.
Hearing them talk about Golden Corral reminds me of those commercials where comedian Jeff Foxworthy was promoting the restaurant. I learned a few things from those commercials. 1. Golden Corral was desperate for high praise 2. I felt bad for Jeff Foxworthy. Hope the check was worth it
1:43 Missed opportunity to bring back Steffen Gayorgy. 19:39 Maybe it’s because I like that part of a French Onion soup, but I kinda like the crispy texture at the top of a mac n cheese though I don’t need it to enjoy a bowl. Long as it doesn’t taste bland, it’s a good mac in my book. 20:24 Tom making all his Italian friends fume with that Grilled Cheese + Tomato Soup = pizza…except Dan for some reason. But Chilled and Sab? Definitely. 31:00 What about D20 Live with Big Mike? You got two one-shots in with him. 35:32 Gotta love HDMI. Same thing happens in my car because of CarPlay. My phone will be connected but my mom prefers her own music so I let her play hers. However if I do anything that would cause audio to play off of my phone it interrupts her playlist and she has to start it back up. 36:18 It’s got counting, and nobody’s better at counting than Tom. 38:17 Supposedly something special will happen if you field this Mew against the Mewtwo raid.
That talk about Tom being not sure on what to say or do when it comes to other people is so relatable (as I'm sure other people listening were too). It feels like you don't want to bother them but sometimes you have to take the plunge. My concern is saying stuff or doing something that bothers someone and then it escalates somehow. Then again there days where I feel like worrying about stuff like that, and others were IDGAF. It's weird.
If you're hoping to get into table top RPGs shop around for a system that clicks with you. DnD 5e is a good starter system, but you really need a capable DM as the system is very awkward for improvising with how stats work and it's combat is pretty weak in my opinion, but I'm always a min-maxer so thats a colored opinion. I'd look into Blades in the Dark or hacks of Apocalypse World like Monster of the Week if you don't want tactical combat. Massif Press also has LANCER if you like mechanical, but that system is really focused on tactical combat and narrative mechanics are basically nonexistant which frustrates a lot of folks. Their followup system ICON has actual narrative rules which are fun and flavorful, plus tactical combat is easier to understand in it if you have no prior experience with TTRPGs or wargames.
Just chiming in to agree. 5e isn't a bad starting point, but I feel the more you play and look into it the more the cracks start to show (which for me the most important is a lack of meaningful character progression choices past level 1). To that end, I think Pathfinder 2e is overall a better system. It simplifies and overhauls things from P1e but still maintains the in depth character building and progression that helped make P1e what it was. It's not a perfect system, but I generally prefer it. 5e is a solid pick if the narrative play of TTRPG's is what interests you and you don't care about the character building aspect much. P2e is better if you want to bring a character to life both through roleplaying *and* character building together. Lancer is also a solid pick if you really like mechs (as I do), but yeah the narrative play mechanics in that are pretty lacking. Consider mixing in some other system to handle on-foot gameplay and using Lancer to handle mech gameplay. Grimoire of the Heart is also good (and free!) if you're into MegaTen. While I have some problems with it, namely that it's really only set up to run games in the style of P5, you can fix those with some homebrewing. The basics aren't too complicated either IMO.
For anyone concerned: I feel the need to explain this chat comment I wrote at 18:53, because it looks really bad out of context, and I was timed out for it before the mods realized what I was talking about and ended the timeout early. This is entirely in reference to Jerod saying how he likes getting Chick-fil-A nuggets for his dog and their mac & cheese for himself, and then he continues with "The problem is..." In the moment, I wanted to quickly make a joke off that, in reference to the problem of supporting Chick-fil-A because of the homophobic actions of their leadership, but my fingers moved faster than my brain. What I was implying was "The problem [with eating Chick-fil-A] is that gay rights exist [and Chick-fil-A doesn't support them]". I would later clarify my stance at 21:38.
sadly stuff like this can't work unless the streamer/mods are aware of real time texting/delay when messages appear. it's way to common even though everyone should know this by now
@@CallieBlader I don't really feel like this is a streamer/mods issue, but rather the chat needs to be aware that they are not in the discord talking to the streamer so acting as though you are talking exclusively with the streamer is just going to confuse everyone even if there had been no delay. for instance I said something out loud the other day in response to a streamer and my BF who was watching it with me went "wait what?"
@@HotaruHikai i mean, it kind of is because streamers/mods are, again, still not fully aware of the delay sometimes. when streamer says a thing and chat responds, it takes a couple of seconds to get a response, and in some cases, it messes up the stream (especially a stream where the streamer continuously talks and doesn't remember what was said)
I honestly thought the long 'Big Brother is watching' stare in silence was on purpose, and honestly I think it works perfectly having it. It's weird but it works, because EVERYONE did it.
I don't know if Jon will see this, but have you considered looking into a TRPG that's more role play focused? Games that use the Powered By the Apocalypse style system (like City of Mist for example) or a game like FATE have minimal math and are much more directly about telling a story with a group of people. Look into these games, you might find something that clicks with you more!
I used to eat golden corral a lot during the 90's it was good food. I feel like your mileage will very just depends on the location and the people running it. given if I walk into a toilet I don't care where and it has a human turd in the middle of the floor I am walking out immediately and asking for a refund.
Jon going from 20+ lives to negative 40 was a legendary colosseum moment

I thought they nourished him with Orange Fanta and two handfuls of steak?

The moment Tom dubbed Dan’s Sea of Thieves character Mr. Seaworthy after Jeff Foxworthy, it was only a matter of time before the Corral got to him.
I hope you're feeling better Dan

Tom loves Subway despite getting food poisoning from them several times, so his stance on Golden Corrall is saying something xD
You can tell Stephen and Dan are good friends when Dan's Stephen inflection is spot on. 😆
OH HEY ITS THE REAL EPISODE THIS TIME
Has it really been 33 episodes? It feels like it started not long ago!
Yeah, didn’t the first episode go up just last month?
I almost went to a Golden Corral in 2023, but thanks to sheer dumb luck, the soda machines were broken, and we went to Wendy's instead.
John "I have multiple names with no S in it."
....? RoSa?
Edit: nevermind XD

3:30 Bravo Tom, that is the first nerd voice I've heard outside of a cartoon that sounded like they were trying when they did it.

There is a golden corral where i live and it is the better buffet. (that tells you what kind of buffets i have)
I have a similar problem with socializing to tom, great in the moment terror before and after

38:04 I got Fairy, Ghost, and Steel type
Don't be silly, Tom, you can't make pizza by just adding tomato soup to things! Do it the proper Italian way!
Add Ketchup!
Oh my god can we just have Dan be Stephen next podcast if Stephen doesn’t show?
so i guess Sab is Stephen's alt now?
I describe that taste as having a bit of a chlorine taste to it. May be inaccurate, but still…
Sab Georg
Stephen Irene
"Almost fish" mac and cheese just sounds like... a bad attempt at crossing cod au gratin and mac n cheese. No. 😢
