Lots of great information and thanks for sharing. We also have the Verizon 8800L plan. The updates have really helped. I have noticed in busier areas the download and upload speeds do go down. Verizon has however discontinued the $65 prepaid unlimited plan for anyone new wanting one.
Very informative. Traveling Marriage and Family therapist, here. Glad to here you’ve had good experiences with this model and I’ll be using for telehealth counseling.
I haven't tried it for gaming but I do stream UHD programs. It depends on the area and how busy the tower is. I've had download speeds up to about 70 mbps.
Thank you very much for the video! I just bought a 8800L. The speed so far is pathetic. 1MBPS download and less than 1 upload. We are in Yuma az. Hopefully it will improve as we travel. My question is do you use a cell booster? If yes what system do you use. If no do you strategically place the unit in your RV? Thanks
The verizon service works well in a lot of places, but no one service is perfect. There are many variables to contend with. The variables are Distance from tower Hyow busy the tower is weather all of these things factor in.. in some [laces we get speeds up around 40 - 60 mbs and other places almost zero. it's just the nature of the beast. you will do better closer in to a interstate hwy most times. I don't have a booster. i think they are a waste of money. I know people with them and they don't do any better than us.. to amplify a signal that is almost none existent won't do much. you would be better off using a directional antenna. that will work better and is way cheaper. the antennae will collect more signal making it more useful.
My wife and I are full-time RV travelers. We have the Verizon $65 prepaid plan with the 7730L Jetpack. Do you think I will get improved performance upgrading from the 7730L to the 8800L Jetpack? Thanks.
Two different things. The jetpack is a mobile device on the Verizon wireless network providing the internet access. Netgear is a wifi extender boosting the signal from an existing network
None of these seem to be very good. I just threw out an Inseego 2100 and trying this now. My tower apparently isn't upgraded to "UW" yet either, only .5 mile away. :(
@@nguyenduyhai7181 I've read about the heat, that's scary. this will be for an unmanned location ~365 days It seems impossible to find out when my tower will/may be upgraded, other than camping out next to it and wait for the techs and ask them. I'll try to reply later with how this unit proceeds.
All new mifi sold today should have the latest updates. But when you install a sim card it should automatically update. The last update on this device was in May 2020
You can but I would think it would run slower with four computers hooked up. We Run one computer and high definition TV at the same time with no problem
Rv Tips and Trips you are misinformed. You are measuring megabits, not megabytes. It’s a common mistake. But look it up. Mbps with routers stands for Megabits Per Second, not Megabytes Per Second.
I have one of these and the device works fine enough. Problem is... making a payment to keep the account alive extremely problematic. Payments apparently can only be made in person at a Verizon Store. There is no online payment method or auto pay available for this device. How do you make your monthly payments?
The jetpack does get scary hot when downloading. Had to buy USB fans to keep the battery from swelling, and destroying the sim. I hate the location of the sim. Wish the sim slot was similar to the 7730L.

Definetly hold on to that plan

Thanks. It worked well for us
Best explanation I've heard so far. Thanks for the review!
Thank you and Iam still using it. Works great
Those early reviews on Verizon's website were pretty bad. I'm glad I found this review. I feel better about ordering this now.
Until u get it and realize those reviews were left for a reason and 😄...but let me know how it goes.
@@MrChangeordie Well I've had it for about a month and a 1/2 now. So far no complaints working like a charm.
Thanks so much I'm moving in a rural area this mifi will help alot. How would you say this is with gaming I'm curios

Wondering where you is Sid. Thanks for the update.
Took some time off. Been hanging out in South Dakota.

if i buy on off amazon, how do i get a plan setup for it?

I believe so. The 8800 has the latest technology. It uses aggregation to speed up downloads and has more frequency bands as well.
How was your service in remote areas that you stay? Would you say you typically have service wherever you are remote in the wilderness?
It depends. Deep into national Forest and national parks may be spotty or no reception.
Should I buy it or netgear?

Megabytes or Megabits? There's a big difference.
All measurements done were in Megabytes per second.

@@RvTipsandTrips Yup, you mentioned MBytes/S in the video, I just automatically multiplied that times eight to get the bits/second.
Do you have to purchase a monthly plan with this device?
you can buy it without a plan. it's only usable on verizon though

Mine has never gotten that hot I keep mine on pretty much 24/7. It does get warm sometimes when downloading a lot of data
Watch out for Bears 🐻 ✌️👍 Mifi won’t tell you anything about that
Great information 👍
Thank you.
