  • I was getting people asking if I had some sort of instructions or procedure outlining how to remove the turbo. I decided to show how I remove and install a turbo on one of these engine. One of my longest videos. There is a lot of information here. Also highlighting some more of the products we offer and what to replace while the turbo is off.

    My favorite channel and subject! Being a long time pontiac and T/A guy I am so into these 2 year engines, mainly because everyone told me to stay away from them lol. That just makes a guy wanna build one. The 12 second passes u were making was one of the most awesome things I seen in a long time. That so called (crappy 301T) would leave my BTR cammed 99 WS6 behind! Keep up the good work 👏

    You've always been a genuine guy helping the hobby. I think that switch on my linkage might explain why the A/C decided to stop working. Thanks for the video.

      I had a 1980 TTA in 1991. My uncle was a mechanic, added freon, never could get the A/C to work. Now I wonder 🤔

    Your videos are SOOOOOO stinking helpful and educational. I tackled the vacuum lines on a 77 and it was a nightmare and am wondering if you would do an entire Turbo vacuum line video? Vacuum lines can be so impactful and info on correct set up is always sparse. Thanks for being the best 81 resource ever.

    Very well done video. Tons of information here. I have a buddy with one of these cars. The top end was removed decades ago. Heads were redone at machine shop. He wants me to reassemble it. Can you possibly do a video on the vacuum line connections and one way valves. Also, where to get a new oil drain grommet for the intake? We will be needing the PEVR rebuilt as well. HELP! Lol. The informative videos you make are priceless for these rarer draw through turbo Pontiacs.

    Another video well done. We appreciate the info Joe. You surely are the master of this engine. Curious what your opinion is on better cooling of the turbo. The 6.2 diesel uses the radiator as an oil cooler, much like an automatic tranny cooler. If someone had a stick shift 301T, do you think it would be beneficial, or even possible, to use the automatic tranny connections, to re-rout the the eng. oil into the radiator tank for more cooling? Thanks for your response.

    Hi Joe. I've previously disconnected the plenum heating on my '81T car. Since I'm changing over to conventional aluminum heads, would you leave plenum heat disconnected, especially since I'm using a conventional but seperate water crossover? EGR has already been plugged, and A.I.R. is also gone. I also have the Stage V turbo, your experimental, aluminum intake manifold, & 2.5" downpipe with headers.

    Hello, I'm shopping for a Gen 2 trans am, and there are lots of excellent condition 80 and 81 turbo's on the market. Some of these trans am's have 50 to 80 k mi, with no report of turbo issues. Some other classic car sites, tend to trash the turbo. I'm not necessarily looking for power, but a reliabe engine is more important to me. In general terms of turbo reliability, should I avoid these years because of the turbo? Thanks, Doug

    How does the fuel get pulled into the engine, with the carb mounted on the “pressure “ side of the turbo ?

    • @ttaperformance1046
      @ttaperformance1046  Год назад

      That is not the pressure side of the turbo. It is the air intake side of the turbo. There is no pressure on the carb. The pressure side of the turbo is attached to the intake manifold.

    I wonder, if you put an intake from a regular 301, could an inter cooler could be used and the turbo relocated? Just wondering.

    • @ttaperformance1046
      @ttaperformance1046  2 года назад

      Yes. That is something I plan to try. 301 4 barrel intake. Aftermarket turbo. Blow thru intercooled.

    A 301 V8 turbo should make more then 210 hp ! The only Trans Am that was worse was the non-turbo 301 V8 Trans Am that had 140hp . It’s just sad that it came to this .

      But you wasted your time commenting on a turbo 301 Pontiac video from a turbo 301 Pontiac RUclips channel. Thanks!
