You mentioned "ghosting" when there's quick movement. I have 5 REOLINK GO PT's that I use as trail cams in rural Tennessee. I don't have the problem with ghosting. I actually have a video that is only 3 seconds long with no ghosting (I have others, but this video is the most impressive). It was at the starting of the rut. A buck (10 pointer) had been chasing a doe. She literally ran in front of my camera and stopped (remember all this takes place in 3 seconds) and immediately the buck blows by my camera at full speed and she takes off running. I got all of it clear as a bell. The buck wasn't in frame but 2 seconds and I got him so clear that I could pause the video and count his points. You never mentioned that you can also talk to whatever is in front of the camera. I'm all the time running pigs off. Great product. I'm very happy with my reolink's.

Wanted to add my feedback... nice review Sir.. Thanks. I have tested several similar security cameras from different manufacturers since I made this video, and the superiority of the Reolink (for the money) is undeniable. It appears that there is a slight delay when the motion sensor is triggered. Therefore, proper placement is crucial to ensure that the target remains within the frame when the recording begins. I encountered a similar issue with my camera. While it is of a different brand, these are essentially Chinese replicas, and they share nearly identical features. My camera is primarily intended for security purposes, so I aim to capture and save every available frame.

Hi there, thanks for your video, very helpful. We are manually charging the camera & it’s never charging over 26 percent & the solar was never over 32 percent. What are we doing wrong. I wonder if that is why the movement is not good (stalling) because it is not charged fully. Thanks
The motion detection is in the field of the camera. So wherever the camera is pointed, that is where it detects movement. This is a PTZ camera, so it can be pointed down.

Yes, if you want cloud storage (pics and videos are uploaded to the cloud) but it is not necessary. Relink cameras have Push Email notifications which include a thumbnail image of the activity. This is free and if you see something you want to look at closer, you can log onto the camera. Works great. Relink is one of the only camera to offer this function.
Very useful information and tips, thanks for this great video! I have one question, sorry, I'm not sure if you mentioned it: from how far a moving object can activate the camera? Thanks in advance!
Motion detection distance depends on a lot of things. How big an object is and how fast it is moving play a big part in if it will be detected or not. The camera can detect birds, but only up to around 10 feet. Cat-sized animals out to around 20 or 30 feet. Larger animals and humans up to 50 or 60 feet. Hope this helps.
Yes. Reolink has a great Desktop program that functions just like the smartphone app. You can use both to view and manage all reolink cameras, wifi, or 4g in one place
I have a ReoLink Go PT camera. I haven't set it up yet but now I'm wanting to put it out in the field. Does it also send a thumbnail of the scene so I can tell if I want to see the vidio or not?
Reolink is one of the few cameras that offer this option. You can do it through the push email function. This one of my favorite functions because it is free and saves on data. What I do is set up a custom Gmail address to receive the emails from the camera and use a separate email app for that account. This way my security camera notifications don't get mixed up with all my other emails and does not clog up my main email account. You can also program the app to send emails with thumbnails to other people that want to see pics from you camera. It is very useful reason and a main reason I use reolink cameras for my personal use.
Yes. Any standard USB power supply can power it. Are you intending to use it within range of wi-fi? If so, there are wi-fi models that would save you some money over this 4G model.
@@joem9987 I am sure you could get a booster to push the signal that far. The price of a wifi model will be less than half of this Cellular model, and with the saving you could buy the booster. Then you would not have to pay a monthly bill for 4G data. I am always about saving money.
You can absolutely go into Live View mode. B cause it is solar charged you won't want to stay in live view mode all day, but you can certainly do it when you need to.
Great vid very informative thanks. Just a question about recording you said how it records aslong as there's movement. So if there's 10min of movement it'll record for the full 10min plus the 8 sec post is that correct?
That is a good question. I have never tried it for that long, but I suppose so. There might some kind of limiter that would stop one clip and start a new one, but in my experience it records as long as there is continuous movement in which there is not a break of movement longer than 8 seconds.
This is an excellent question. I do not see why it would not. As long as you have 4G service, it should work fine. My concern would the vibration and jointing the camera would under go being connected to a truck. I don't think it is built to endure that kind of punishment.
Very informative and well explain. Thank you so much. So, if what I need is to monitor Mouses and rats In order to analyse their behaviour, and to know why they are not taking my bait and to have access to those videos at any time from the comfort of my house without having to go on the site where the camera are, Would you rather advice me to buy Celular trails cameras like a Spypoint Flex ( for exemple ) or 4g cameras with data like this you reviewed in this video? *My needs are videos( no need for photos ) that last as long as the motion is going on around my traps. -very good night vision -very good reception data since some times it will b in crawl spaces. Thank you very much for your advice.
I will try to answer your questions to the best of my ability. 1. Which is better a cellular trail camera or this camera? I am going to say that I would unequivocally choose this camera over a cellular trail camera. Not even a contest. I have tested many cellular trail cameras and while they can be good, they simply cannot compete with this camera. FYI. The camera in this video has been in the field for two solid years and is still going strong. 2. Continuous recording during motion. This camera does do that, however, how effectively it would work with small rodents like mice and rats is questionable. 3. Reliable Reception. This camera is not tied to a single network like some and will work with any network, so, if you have good network coverage from at least one network, you should be okay. You just need to find which network has the best coverage and get an IoT sim card for that network. This card here actually works with all three major US networks (AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon): amzn.to/3rRxmrV
@cesarestrada1283 The camera records as long as it detects motion. It has a Post Motion record setting that you can set to 8, 15, or 30 seconds after it stops detecting motion. For example; if you set it to 30 seconds of post motion recording and an animal is moving in front of it for 20 seconds, then the total record time will be 20+30= 50 seconds. Hope this makes sense.
Very helpful video. I own this exact camera - 2 in fact - for security on my hunting property. It is absolutely awesome for security notifications - trespassers beware! The only downside - and this is true of most Chinese made electronics - there is absolutely no documentation whatsoever. I'm sure the camera has a ton of great features but they leave it up to the customer to figure them out. Just one more reason China sucks.
Have you had any problems with the cameras not being able to connect remotely, mine will work great for a week or two then for two or three days the cameras will not connect and give me a “Connection Failed” message, then all of a sudden they start working again?!?!
It is compatible with this camera. I know that. I went through three other antennas that did not fit, so I know what you are concerned about. This one fits this camera for sure. I don't know about others, but it fit the one in this video.
Excellent got three ordered to improve reception, mine will work then stop for a while and then come back on or not, I’m in a valley so I’m sure this will help for sure, thanks again!!
Thanks for the review, very helpful.. I will consider this camera for my farm road. I'm also looking for a 4g continuous record camera with shared access. If you know of one, please recommend.
My pleasure. Glad it helped. There a lot of CC cameras out there, but I have never tested any. I do only solar wifi and cellular cameras. CC cameras generally are hardwired and require a base station with massive hard drive space. It is too much work and expense to install them for me to just do a review.
@thejungleexplorer thanks for the reply. The camera will be pretty remote, with no wifi out in the woods. I wanted to have a live camera feed at a bird/wildlife area, I get a lot of unique birds in South TX, that many folks don't know about we have or ever seen.
@@SiestaSundance I do bird-watching myself and enjoy seeing new birds that show up, but am always wondering what I don't see when I am out and about. To solve this, I got a bird feeder camera system that takes pictures of birds as they eat. It is wifi though. It still works even if not connected to wifi, but you would have to go pull the SD card to see what it caught pictures of. #ad amzn.to/3OA5zU4
does it have option, when ever i dont need solar panel, for example i put it up to my workshop where i do have electrical power, but no wifi so i still need sim card but aint have power issues, second place where i want to use it is my summer home ive seen some weird acitivty there but thing is there are no electric possible so i can use solar panel wich comes with camera.
You can power it with a standard smartphone AC wall adapter and a USB micro cord. The camera is 4G only and odes not have WIFI functions. Hope this answers your questions.
I am using sims card that were provided to me from Eliottclub, but you can use any IoT sim card from any company you want. The camera is not tied to any one service.
Can two individuals each setup the same Reolink camera'(s) onto their phone and view at the same time? I noticed in the settings it says Share Camera....how does this function work and will it forward all push notifications and email alerts to another person?
The answer is yes and no. I can be logged into the camera on my phone and on my PC (Reolink has a Desktop app as well) at the same time. However, both cannot control the camera at the same time for obvious reasons. As far Push email notifications you can add several emails to receive them. I don't know if there is a limit, but I have five emails in mine right now and all receive the email. As far as the share function goes it just created a QR code that another user can scan with the Reolink app to import the camera. They will still need the password to login on though. Hope this helps.
@@thejungleexplorer I just want it as a security camera to store footage of any potential thieves or attackers on my property WITHOUT having to use internet, wifit, 4G, or needing to download any app {much like a trail cam with built in sd card and time and date stamp BUT not needing to replace batteries all the time ~ hence the solar battery option}.
Okay. In that case, I would recommend a Solar trail camera or maybe the wifi version of the Solar Reolink PT. Both will run you about half the cost of this camera and do what you want. Or you could just add a solar panel to a regular trail camera like this one: #ad amzn.to/3DQknIL
These can be used anywhere you need them, where WiFi is not availible. If you have WiFi, I recommend one of their WiFi models like this one: #AD amzn.to/3qV48lT. As far is which one if better; I cannot answer that question because I have not tested the Go Cellular model. The GO PT model alowws for Panning and Tilting. If that is not necessary for your application, then the regular GO model may be a better choice because it cost less. No sense pay for extra function you do not need. If you need Pan and Tilt functions, then the GO PT would be the better choice.
You can use any carrier. I pay $10 a month, but the company I use offer 360 day plans for $99 too. I don't use my camera year round, so I just don't he month to month.
Yeah, IR lights draw a lot of power, and putting really high-powered IRs on a battery-powered device would significantly increase the battery drain. I am still using this camera in the field and my experience has been that the solar panel is just big enough to keep it running. It would need to be increased to a larger panel if the camera were to have a significant power draw added to it. However, I have not really had many problems with the IRs not being bright enough. 80 feet is a long way for IR to reach. I have seen trail cameras that can do it, but the video still is not that great that far out, even if the IRs are bright enough.
@Jungle Explorer yeah i have game cameras that do 80 to 100ft one direction only but believe this could be good as u can move it different positions by turning it certain ways
One quick note ....you never mentioned anything about the 32gb sd card that comes with the camera. Over enough recording time, you will eventually fill up the card and it will need to be deleted out so it can continue to save videos. Did you know that you can delete the card out by using the app? I clear my cards once a month. I've never had to go to the actual camera and pull the SD card to clear it. Of course, before clearing the card each month, I save to my phone any video I want to save and then I clear the card. This is great because I get so many "junk" videos of squirrels, coons, birds, ect. I camoed my cams and mounted them with the solar panel to a treated 1x6x24 inches long decking board. I mounted straps to each side so I can put it to a tree just like a regular trail camera. Now I can move them as I want as the deer movement changes throughout the season. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the info. I knew about using the app to delete content off the card, but this information is great for other viewers that may not. Reolink had the best app if any security camera app I have tried. It is a very well thought out and designed app. I may have to make a video just on how to use the app. Thanks for commenting.
@dnhman it's there without you knowing it. First you click on the little gear in the top right while your in view live stream. After you click the gear icon, then info will pop up about the camera (that's actually the camera's settings). Next, click on the picture of the camera at the top. Then another screen will pop up. Go down to "storage" and click it. Then it'll pop up a word "format". Click format and then it'll show "confirm". Click confirm and then delete. It'll think for just a bit and then will say "format complete". Then the card will be cleaned. It sounds like it's a lot and complicated, but if you can navigate to "storage ", the rest is obvious questions you answer. Hope this helps

Thank you for commenting Dennis! I am so sorry to hear that. What network are you with? Recently, the AT&T network (which I am on) has been really glitchy. Just yesterday I was sitting in my car at Walmart with 5 bars and could not do anything, the connection was so slow. You might see if there are any problems with the network that your SIM is tied to. I had no problems with my camera when using the SIM provided by Eiotclub. Here is a link to their website: www.eiotclub.com/pages/trail-camera-data-plan?spm=..page_2202421.header_1.1&spm_prev=..page_982649.header_1.1
Verizon is a CDMA network. As far as I know, all IoT devices operate only on GSM networks. If Verizon supports GSM SIM cards for data, then they may offer IoT plans that could accommodate this camera.
You can, I just bought the Card and it set to add 26.00 a month to my Cell bill. I’m going to stop until Sept when I want to start using as a trail cam
Mine is about two years old and still going strong. But yeah, batteries can go out. If it were me, I would try my hand at opening it up and replacing the battery cells. My motto is, "If someone put it together, I can take it apart.". If you end up breaking it, you have lost nothing, so why not try.
DO NOT BUY any Reolink battery powered camera if you want Continious recording and Multi-user access. If i knew early, won't have purchased it. I have been mailing them to add it and nothing has been done yet.
@@AlejandroMQuine The Solar power units are not capable of continuous recording. They only take video when movement is detected. To record continuously in HD takes about 3.5 GB of data per hour, so even if a security camera could do such a thing, a 32 GB card would only get you about 9 hours of recording time, before the storage maxed out.
@@thejungleexplorer I do not understand can this camera be turned on when I need it so that I can see what is happening live, or is it only activated by movement
@@thejungleexplorer I read you use the EIOT SIM card. Do you also need a 4G cellular plan with Tmobile or ATT? Or does the EIOT SIM card purchase also include the cellular data plan? Also, I saw on the REOLINK site they only recommended the TMobile SIM Prepaid. Is that true? I just purchased 3 of the Reolink GO PT Plus cameras but have not yet received. Finally, is the camera good enough to do facial identification up close for police/sherrif? We have a problem with people stealing horses in FL and are installing cameras to catch bad people sneaking into farm/stable.
NOT COMPATIBLE WITH VERIZON… I spent 2 hours on the phone today attempting to add two REOLINK GO PT Plus cameras to my Verizon account. The IMEI numbers on the cameras would not be accepted on line with Verizon and I got the error message to contact customer support. Customer support told me Verizon would not support these cameras on their wireless network and told me to try two different cameras the names for which the Verizon tech provided. If you want to use your Verizon account to manage these cameras, look for another camera!!
The IMEI number is provided by the SIM card. The Reolink camera will work with different SIM cards. You need to find a IoT card that works with Verizon. Eiotclub has a 3 network SIM that works with all with all three US networks (ATT, T-Mobile, Verizon).
@@thejungleexplorer So what is the purpose of the IMEI number on the device? Verizon won't send a sim card when provided the IMEI number on the device.

Overall I'd say there useful but they are 50/50 on reliability.
Something sounds off. I have three Reolink cameras and have never had a malfunction within any of them in three years of continuous use. Reolink has a standard set of troubleshooting protocols you need to perform in order to determine if the issue is due to hardware failure, software issues, or setup issues. It is frustrating and time consuming, but if you do them, you will discover what they issue is. If it turns out to be a defective product and it is covered by warranty, I have no doubt Reolink with replace the product. They have always tested me fairly.

Dose the camera support a live stream link to share with people?
No. You can share the camera with others to access and view it, but they will need to do so via the Reolink app.
can this also be powered by an ac adapter? I want to put in a garage where it won't get the sunlight it needs for power.
Yes. Any standard USB power supply can power it. Are you intending to use it within range of wi-fi? If so, there are wi-fi models that would save you some money over this 4G model.
@@thejungleexplorer it's for my garage which unfortunately is to far away for my wifi to pick up. That's why us was researching the cellular route
@@joem9987 How far is your garage? I have wifi cameras up to 700 feet from my router.
@@thejungleexplorer oh wow I don't think it's that far. Maybe 200 yards or so.
@@joem9987 I am sure you could get a booster to push the signal that far. The price of a wifi model will be less than half of this Cellular model, and with the saving you could buy the booster. Then you would not have to pay a monthly bill for 4G data. I am always about saving money.
can it be turned on live to see what happens?
or the camera turns on only on motion
You can absolutely go into Live View mode. B cause it is solar charged you won't want to stay in live view mode all day, but you can certainly do it when you need to.
The 4G Lte service provider that supports Reolink is?
Any GSM network will work. It will not work with CDMA networks like Verizon.
Great vid very informative thanks. Just a question about recording you said how it records aslong as there's movement. So if there's 10min of movement it'll record for the full 10min plus the 8 sec post is that correct?
That is a good question. I have never tried it for that long, but I suppose so. There might some kind of limiter that would stop one clip and start a new one, but in my experience it records as long as there is continuous movement in which there is not a break of movement longer than 8 seconds.
do u think this camera can be used on a moving vehicle (truck trailer for example)
This is an excellent question. I do not see why it would not. As long as you have 4G service, it should work fine. My concern would the vibration and jointing the camera would under go being connected to a truck. I don't think it is built to endure that kind of punishment.
Hi Mate, Have you tested the frame lapse camera function of this product?
Unfortunately, no I have not.
Very informative and well explain. Thank you so much.
So, if what I need is to monitor Mouses and rats In order to analyse their behaviour, and to know why they are not taking my bait and to have access to those videos at any time from the comfort of my house without having to go on the site where the camera are,
Would you rather advice me to buy Celular trails cameras like a Spypoint Flex ( for exemple ) or 4g cameras with data like this you reviewed in this video?
*My needs are videos( no need for photos ) that last as long as the motion is going on around my traps.
-very good night vision
-very good reception data since some times it will b in crawl spaces.
@@thejungleexplorer ok very good, so how long are the videos In this camera during motion activity? 60s? 2min?
Thanks.
@@thejungleexplorer thank you sooo much man. This answer my questions.
I subscribed and liked. 👍🏼
@cesarestrada1283 My pleasure. Have a great evening. Thanks for the sub.
Do you have to have better cellular reception for this camera compared to the non plus model?
The model of the camera should not have an effect on this. The camera cannot make a weak signal stronger.
Thanks for commenting. I agree.
Have you had any problems with the cameras not being able to connect remotely, mine will work great for a week or two then for two or three days the cameras will not connect and give me a “Connection Failed” message, then all of a sudden they start working again?!?!
When I moved to my new land I had those problems, but I replace the original antenna with this one and have had no problem since. #AD amzn.to/3PBbCd6
Just verifying the item description does not say compatible with REOLINK, but if you say it works I need help, ha ha!!
@@joecoolcooley6160 My pleasure. Glad I could help.

I like your review.
Thanks. I am glad it helped.
My question is on that plan your using dose it matter about what provider you use cause at&t works best in my kneck of the woods?
I am using sims card that were provided to me from Eliottclub, but you can use any IoT sim card from any company you want. The camera is not tied to any one service.
You can change live stream quality low or clear... did you say it on the video?
I talked extensively about the video quality settings and options starting at 18:20
very thorough ...thank you
My pleasure. Glad you enjoyed it
Does this cam have auto tracking?
No it does not, but this model is a couple years old now.
Tape off lense and hit it with some flat black/OD spray paint.
Yes. I left it original for the review, but I later covered it with camo tape.
What could be done to make it more anti theft?
You can cover it in camouflage tape and put it higher off the ground so it cannot be accessed without a ladder?
What is the sim card for? Is it necessary if I just want to use the reolink solar camera as a trail camera?
The camera will function without 4G, but there are much cheaper options if you don't want remote access over 4G
Is this better than the reolink go cellular solar camera for home security as well or just land?
These can be used anywhere you need them, where WiFi is not availible. If you have WiFi, I recommend one of their WiFi models like this one: #AD amzn.to/3qV48lT. As far is which one if better; I cannot answer that question because I have not tested the Go Cellular model. The GO PT model alowws for Panning and Tilting. If that is not necessary for your application, then the regular GO model may be a better choice because it cost less. No sense pay for extra function you do not need. If you need Pan and Tilt functions, then the GO PT would be the better choice.
@@thejungleexplorer thank you kindly!
What’s cost of use ? I have AT@T what does the data cost over time
You can use any carrier. I pay $10 a month, but the company I use offer 360 day plans for $99 too. I don't use my camera year round, so I just don't he month to month.
Pity the infra red goes only up to 10 meters 80ft would be a game changer
@@thejungleexplorer you should.....it would be very helpful to those people that are not as informed about the camera. Good video!
thanks for sharing that. can you share the steps, just go this unit and trying things out but did not see that option ?
TIA

If I could use it with my existing Verizon plan I'd buy it right now.
Verizon is a CDMA network. As far as I know, all IoT devices operate only on GSM networks. If Verizon supports GSM SIM cards for data, then they may offer IoT plans that could accommodate this camera.
The manual actually says to use wcdma sim card not gsm
You can, I just bought the Card and it set to add 26.00 a month to my Cell bill. I’m going to stop until Sept when I want to start using as a trail cam
It’s great until the battery stops taking a charge. Then it’s a paperweight.
Mine was only 2 years old when it stopped working.
Mine is about two years old and still going strong. But yeah, batteries can go out. If it were me, I would try my hand at opening it up and replacing the battery cells. My motto is, "If someone put it together, I can take it apart.". If you end up breaking it, you have lost nothing, so why not try.
Cost
On Amazon it is running about $200. There is a link in the discription to it, or just search for Reolink GO PT Plus.
DO NOT BUY any Reolink battery powered camera if you want Continious recording and Multi-user access. If i knew early, won't have purchased it. I have been mailing them to add it and nothing has been done yet.
Thank you for commenting Mr. AJtheGeniuS! I am so sorry to hear that.
@@thejungleexplorer Is there an option for continuous recording? or it records when it detects movement only? Thank You.

You don't need a Version issued SIM to get service through Verizon. You just need an IoT Sim that has Verizon capability.
I've had 3 of these cameras for less then a month now and 1 of the 3 completely quit working properly. The other 2 are intermittently not connecting and 1 does not acknowledge setting changes over and over, motion sensors seem intermittently effective. And reolink has no phone number to contact. Tryed to warranty the one camera and all I get is automated email responses saying to try this try that bla bla bla. All my sim cards have unlimited data and have strong signal being used in a major American city, sorry reolink its not the sim card cell services fault, verified this buy popping sim card into cell phone and all sims work excellent.
