The show is taken on the island of Ibiza. So that's where the palm trees are.
The original premise of the show in the earlier seasons (this one was season 12), was like a playful competition where the singers would sing a song out of the repertoire of the guest of honor and that person would then jokingly choose which one of them would be their replacement if they ever got sick just before a concert. That competition element was always taken lightly though because it was always more about the challenge for the artists of stepping out of their comfort zone to simply enjoy the diversity in music and how even in that diversity it binds us all together.

The Netherlands definitely embraced Floor after Beste Zangers 2019! WE ALL LOVE FLOOR!! 🇳🇱🇳🇱🇳🇱 and hell what did we missed out a lot before that time.
Idol and the Voice are actually Dutch concepts that took over the world.
This 'Beste Zangers' concept aswell, they have a Belgian version, called 'Liefde voor Muziek' (Love for Music) which has amazing performances aswell. And I recently heard the Danish also have a version.
Idol is a British concept, The Voice is Dutch.

Beste Zangers (Dear Singers) annual are recorded at Ibiza Spain. (During recordings of Floor’s and Henk’s duet a huge thunderstorm runs over the Island, and almost the show has to be postponed)
Due to metal is not regularly heard in the Netherlands and Floor is living outside the Netherlands she was only known within the metal scene.

And by the way, on march 8th i was at the supermarket here and who came in front wanted to walk in when i walked out... Rolf Sanchez! Spoke with him and made a picture together. I knew his soundman because he had dialyse in 2018 and my (passed away) girlfriend as well, at the same time.

Jen, I empathize with you. It is hard when as a child is confronted with the separation of her parents, because it is not normal that children cannot grow up with their (both) parents in peace. The fact that you also have to experience that your father turns out to be deceased and was not able to be there, makes it even more difficult.
Floor is now indeed welknown to all Dutch people since this show.
1st: She was also awarded the "Buma ROCKS Export Award 2019" !. According to "Stichting Buma Cultuur" she is the greatest Dutch singer worldwide. The (Beste Zangers) group performed as the main act on Saturday evening during the Forta Rock Festival in the Goffertpark in Nijmegen (NLD). During the festival, Jansen was surprised by the Buma Foundation with the prize.
2nd: Singer Floor Jansen has won the Pop Award 2019 at the Noorderslag festival in Groningen. She has been the front woman of the Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish since 2012. Before that, she was lead singer of the Dutch band After Forever for twelve years. Nightwish is especially popular abroad, in the Netherlands Jansen became known to the general public through her participation in TV program Beste Zangers (Dear singers) from broadcaster AVROTROS. According to the jury, Jansen has proved, but also with the concerts with her bands, that she is one of the best and most versatile singers in the Netherlands. The jury appreciates that her music “has a connecting force beyond the subculture”.
Jen, you should come and live in Sweden, were Floor lives nowdays, among most of the bands and artists in the genre.....

I hated musicals but years ago i had this gf who really loved them, so ofc i went with her (thats what we do for love:) she took me to "The Three Musketeers" with Henk Poort. I was sold, i liked it so much that i suprised my ex a couple of times with tickets, i just made sure it were musicals with Henk in it.

Jen, did you notice how many total different music styles the backing band has to play each evening? And that with just one day of rehearsel in total with each of the perperformers per episode? So that makes six different music style arrangements rehearsals each and every day within less than two weeks? The Marcel Fisher Band is great. They have been supporting the 'Beste Zangers' project for ten years now, and with a very adequate support knows how to hit exactly the right tone that suits the music style of the particular vocalist.

I think After Forever would certainly rings a bell for the broader public. To think that metal is not accepted in the Netherlands, it is a misconception which is being spread as if it was a true fact.
Certainly in the 2000's Lowlands was full with symphonic metal bands like Lacuna Coil and After Forever (with Floor Jansen of course) maybe the name symphonic metal is not recognized because it was often named gothic metal in those days.
We didn't know who Floor was because the Dutch radio almost never plays metal.. We only have 17 million people in the Netherlands so most Dutch metal singer go to other country's
As did Floor so did Delain and Epica and The gathering and Within Temptation for example.

This is so far different from an American show that everything has to be a competition and drama. This is a simple show that was recorded live with out mastering after like they do with idol or the voice. There is no winners. Just a bunch of singers singing songs that means something to others without winners. Down to earth. America needs this real shows, not the same crap shows that everything looks so fake and based in competitions where judges have famous but they can't sing live. America should stop trying to be the King's of TV shows when Dutch always being the King's.

If we play something as a full track we get cut or demonetisation will happen, so we marketing for free their shows or bands for free.record companies ask for their rights and pay for adds. Does it make sense? Best advertising is the people. Not youtube . And record companies should allow them. Nightwish is a world storm because of the reviewers. They want to advertise their bands and they want to pay. When we do that service for them, they say no and they ask for money. Stupid greed.
