Love your education regarding proper care. Many people see a cute little critter and don’t think beyond the dedication required for them to have a happy and healthy life.
Caitlin, We live in North Carolina and after watching Bondi Vet and Vet on the Hill on You Tube where i first saw Sulcata Tortoises, I came across you quite by accident and found out we could get one. So after watching you and Tiptoe and doing a bunch of research including meeting some fully grown Sulcatas out here we are having trouble finding a vet just in case we need one. Matimeo was born in July and we got him in September and we just love him. Is there a specific type of vet I should look for or a registry of Sulcata Tortoise vets to look at. Googling has not brought us any information. The vet for our English Bulldogs and Macaw Parrot said he would see him if he just had to if Matimeo got sick but he didn't know that much about them to be comfortable with everything which I can understand since dogs and cats are his specialty. We bought a book, used the internet and use your videos mainly to help us learn. Matimeo loves red topped lettuce the best-tho we do give him other greens and lots of grass and bell peppers . He's not to fond of fruits yet and we give him calcium. Is there anything else we should be giving him regularly? If we've missed something let us know. We are in our 60s but we have 6 kids and 14 grandchildren so he will be well looked after. We really appreciate your videos and love Tiptoe. Take care and God bless. I’m actually really proud of your parents for teaching you exactly how to care and be responsible for him. A lot of people get pets without research or commitment and end up either killing it or just give it away, but I can see you and your family have really put your hearts into caring for such a beautiful creature.❤️ and I admire this very much because I’m in my 20s with a 1 year old sulcata and I’m dedicated to keeping mine in my family and passing him on to my children!
I love that you stuck by Tiptoe even after learning how big he'd get! So often people get cute little sulcata babies, but once they see how big they're getting they give them up to rescues. I love that once you realized how big he'd get, you decided to make some changes to accommodate him instead.

Hi! This was great education I really needed. My 34 yr old son found a 75 pound female and now lives in big backyard in New Port Beach. But the bedding I'm really trying to figure out for him to do! I will send this to him. We love her so much!!

Amazing! He's quite a responsibility for you and your family. How big do you anticipate he will get? What are your plans with him in the long-term? He is likely to outlive you.
I look forward to seeing TipToe in his videos. He looks absolutely adorable. So happy you are dedicated to his healthcare. I care for my elder parents, so I get the hosing him down in the backyard bit and taking an hour to walk a block, as well as him living to 120+ years. I feel like we do some of the same stuff.
I love how tiptoe bursts out of his house and I do love him and I I'm happy about the way you take care of him and learned about him and I wish I could have a tip toe but I don't have the space you have outside.

This was such an informative video! I had no idea Tiptoe was the 3rd largest tortoise, and the other 2 largest were beautiful also! Knowing all of this information definitely helped me understand more about Tiptoe and answered a lot of questions I had! And I definitely agree with the other person who commented on how great your parents have been with teaching you all about him. I think it's so great you got him when you were 7 years old and he was so little and cute! Its so amazing they live 80 to 120 years! 🤯 I've always been interested in tortoises and sea turtles they are just very interesting animals! Great set up Caitlin. I've got a female sulcata down here in Florida.and she's outside all year. Diet is grass, some fruit, and romaine. She has no interest in going into wading water. I thread a light bulb for heat down her burrow on colder winter nights and cover the entrance with a mat. She was likely abandoned or an escapee when I found her 4 years ago. Currently about 16" long. I just subscribed so I can keep up with Tip Toe's adventures.
I just bought my seven year old daughter her first sulcata tortoise today and we are watching care guide videos so she can catch up on care. I had a sulcata for 15 years and she was stolen out my backyard twelve years ago I was so upset and mad. That's cool you was the same age as my daughter when you got tiptoe. Great video and a lot of information.

He is so loved thank u for sharing I love watching him we have a box turtle and a red ear slider turtle and we think we have a tortoise as well we're not for sure we were told that's what he is but he doesn't grow very fast he's been the same size for the last 3 years which concerns me he does not eat everyday he eats every other day so thank you for sharing cuz it gives me some ideas to try with our Turtles the one lives in water and the other two do not
Thank you so much for the advice. My husband surprised me with a hatchling tiptoe today 😅 I was so excited I cried and then freaked out . I ran back in and wrote all the care tips the store owner had got his personal cell for emergency knowledge lol . But most importantly I got everything he or she needs . Plus makes sure we had a reptile vet near us incase I have to get it checked. I plan on calling them tomorrow to see when I need to do a heath check and everything. I'm super nervous that I will mess up but so in love already.

This tortoise looks super clean, we can tell you take care of him, I have seen many videos of tortoises with foam at their mouths and look muddy and filthy, I guess they have no access to water to take a bath. Tiptoe looks spotless and healthy.
I've grown to love Tiptoe and I think you're very nice too as well as Grandpa and your mom. Well I hope you have children and I hope they'll be in to taking care of him cuz it looks like he might be outliving you. You sure take good care of him and he looks happy.⚘

Great video! FYI: wood provides almost no insulation. Put a layer of insulating foam behind the wood, and that'll make a big difference. In summer, too. They make foam panels specifically for this purpose. Find them at any big-box store.

I'm in the Midwest and I have a sulcata almost as big as tiptoe it does take a lot of work mostly in the winter because he has to come in inside so I have a bi-level house and the whole first floor is for him in the winter in the summer he lives outside in a big area with a house
That’s cute the only concern I have is what if he wants to mate? Can u get a turtle just use like him fixed? Or have u thought abt getting him a female companion?

I don't know about reptiles, but in dogs and cats, it's the females that have heats. The boys are ready to go as soon as the ladies are receptive.
