    This is the most comprehensive dialogue between asians and indians i've ever seen. JKF doesn't do this. WongFu doesn't do this. No one does this.
    So much respect for Fung Bros. right now.

    • @uatuthewatcher4761
      @uatuthewatcher4761 10 лет назад +11

      JKF goes after the lowest common denominator, hence their popularity.
      WongFu is way to PC.
      Off The Great Wall has great and thoughtful content but Andrew and David have way more personality than Mike and Dan (or carmen, yi, etc).
      Fung Bros beats them all by being able to combine a lot of different attributes into their videos.

    I'm from the 'Tea Region' of india haha, well its northeast India to be precise. We do look like south east asian and thats confusing even to our own fellow Indian, even in my college they'll ask me 'Chong, are you Chinese?' and no one will believe me when i say i'm Indian untill i show them my Indian voters card. Yes, Most of us do like chinese guys or southeast asian guy. Being different doesnt make me less Indian, i'm proud of being Indian and look like chinese(as most people say) :)

      Hey NE people are extremely hot and cute! It's easy to identify a NE Indian and an east Asian. You guys have your own unique look as well as identity. It's just that the northeastern part of India needs more exposure with respect to their culture, cuisines and especially, vast difference in their appearances comparatively with the east Asians as well as the NE Indians themselves.

      Brandon Zimmer Dang, man.. That's the irony of our Secular nation. The common man remains unheard all the time. Our fellow NE people have suffered a lot. However we respect the fact that even after such tortures, you guys are still proud to be Indians. That really shows that humanity is still alive. Respect to y'all fellas. You're equally important for all of us.. Honestly speaking.

      Kudos! Lady. I am from Delhi and I have lots of friends from north east so I can ascertain that most north eastern(yes I am using the word 'most') people are cool. I would also like to say some douche bags must be racist but not all. But it is the same for everywhere in the world. No country got all good people. We love north east and proud to have you Indian fellows! I recently went to Manipur to attend a friend's wedding. The pristine greenery captivated my heart.

    "Tea- Indian" are Tibetan-Burman people from very northeast part of India. I get very offended by it because it is kind the racist. She should just say Northeast Indian instead of "tea-Indian" . So uneducated person.!!!! NEED TO SEND IN NORTH KOREA CAMP FOR RE-EDUCATION...Also, India doesn't have 52 states. India has 29 states and 7 union territories.P

    • @kingmang12
      @kingmang12 10 лет назад +8

      ***** dude,,There are some disagreement I have in your comment. But thanks anyway...Are you saying that Northeast India were Tibetan refugees who came to India in around 50's?. Actually, Northeast India belong to Tibetan- Burman. The Tibetan Burman are the indigenous people of the Northeast. Before British colonization in India, almost all of Northeast India were under the Burman ruled or their own states. But after India got Independence, they became part of India. Once again, Northeast India are not the refugees from Tibet. Northeast India belongs to those indigenous Tibetan-Burman people. For example, Northeast India (Mizoran, Manipura, Bodoland, Nagaland) and Myanmar( Chin, Lisu, Saigaing, and Naga) are basically the same ethnic group. They all speak the same dialects and almost 70% of their dialects are the same. How do I know?, because I am one of those ethnic group. We aren't refugees, we are the indigeneous people of Northeast India and Northwestern Myanmar. According to history, we (Northeast and Northwestern hill tribes from Burma) immigrated to Northeast India and part of Myanmar in around 700A.D - 1300A.D from Tibetan Plateau. However, Burman(Bamar) immigrated to central Myanmar from Tibetan Plateau in around 2000B.C- 500B.C. So we northeast aren't just refugees from Tibetan during cultural revolution.

      Yuiolk The largest Hindu temple in the world is in Cambodia, and its even in their flag.
      The Buddhism practised in Indo-Chinese countries like Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam is Theravada, which came more directly from India. Unlike Mahayaha which was established in China and was spread to Japan and Korea. By the way Buddhism itself had its origin in India. Siddharta Gautama was born in a border between today's Nepal and India and spent his life in the Gangetic plains.

    It really depends where you're from. Here in the UK Asian is totally interchangeable between East Asians and South Asians. In fact I think people initially associate the word Asian with Indians unless you tell them otherwise. If we were to hear "Asian communities" for example, it would mean Indian and Pakistani communities, as there aren't really communities of just East Asians, whereas there are lots of just South Asians. Diffierent demographics I guess.

      rational samrat Don't have a cow, I was referring to the Sinhalese language, not Tamil. Do Indians speak Sinhalese? I was under the impression that it's a Sri Lankan language. What I said was that Sri Lanka has its own language (actually languages, but most speak Sinhalese), I didn't say they didn't speak any Indian languages at all. Was only referring to Sri Lankan language.

    • @siddharthsahu2101
      @siddharthsahu2101 2 года назад +1

      @@giggles2302 Haha ... there are actually more Sinhala speakers in the US than India. Aside from that, though, saying Sinhala is a 'Sri Lankan language', is a bit like saying Hindi is an 'Indian language', or English is a 'British' or an 'American' language. It's kind of weird to assign nationalities to languages, especially when the people in those countries are multiethnic.

    I enjoy learning about other cultures (and how little I know about other Asian cultures, being Asian myself) but also the discussion from young Western-born (or raised primarily outside Asia) Asians point of view. I've always thought the cultural experience for us is the most varied. For some time I had found myself out of touch/ignorant of my parents' culture frowned upon for not being a "true" Asian (whatever that means). I didn't have a lot of Asian friends at all growing up, let alone Australian-born Asian friends and people who I could relate to. So these types of your videos are my favourite :), thanks!

      We got torn into india and Pakistan instead.
      Luckily, our small part of Bengal is independent(like Nepal and Sri Lanka) and we Bengalis have our own country that is not Hindi or Hindustan or India, we don't speak Hindi, we speak Bengali.

    Woo!! "Tea-people", huh? Now I'm offended. Like, seriously? The entire North East don't boost of tea. In fact, states like Meghalaya and Mizoram are know for being the home of over 200 species of orchids.Then there is Nagaland where we have the 'Hornbill Festival" The entire region is known for being rich in flora and fauna. And our diet don't just consist of tea. Have your heard of the notorious 'Ghost Chilli', that comes from our region too (Assam, Manipur, Nagaland).
    And when it comes to North East Indian cuisine, I'd rather say that our cuisine is more similar to our further Asian cousins than our Indian brothers and sisters. And culturally, you can catch some similarities between the population of Nagaland and the Native Americans. The totem poles, the patterns in the traditional shawls, etc.
    To answer about what Indians think about China..... well, I think saying that NorthEast Indian people would rather join China considering the amount of hatred and racial crimes they face daily for looking different despite crying at the top of their hearts that they are Indian too!!
    Seriously, why is this lady in the video? She should get her grade school lessons on India first before speaking nonsensical stuffs. 52 states?? WTH!!!

      BoriquenBeast only Filipinos in California get offended by being called Asian. But it's only because our whole lives, we've always had our own category on tests in school. There's literally a category called "Filipino" that you can bubble in. It's separate from Asian, Pacific Islander, Hispanic, white, etc. Filipinos have their own category in California, so that's why a lot of Filipinos just want to be Filipino first and all the other bullshit labels dont matter.

    People from India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan and Central Asia(persians or light skin asians) and Russia. Must face the facts that their motherland is in a continent called Asia, which is the biggest area and population. It's no wonder that we have many different ethnic groups. But we are all Asians. These people coming from Asia continent should be proud to call themselves Asians. Teach yourself historical and geography. We have the same roots and our cultures and religions have inflows each others. it's just that Muslim countries have destroy that most world heritages and ruins conscious that will not teach children that their historically that before their country converted to Islam were many countries in Central Asia was Buddhist. And Filipinos who believe they also pacific islanders. Wrong! the philippines is still in Asia.

      ***** OK the impression that I got is different , I got from this video is how he expressed himself to call himself being Asian was not positive.Have you been to East Europe? There are very few who have black hair and brown skin. I understand that many Asian culture has perceived light skin or look like european is better or positive than being brown or tan complexion. When you wrote "physical characteristics" we the tend to be closer to Eastern Europeans. do you mean that really? Black hair, brown eyes, dark complexion, this really physical characteristics recognize to east European people? Wow, I live in europe and have not ever seen that one Indian looks similar to European. But yes I have been in India for 3 months and has really talked to many indians, I know that many Indians do not want to have anyting to do with East Asian (China) or associated to Africans. Many are really in denial. But yeah good luck with that standpoint that you resemble to East European. You should came to Europe, they will treat you like one of them. Hahaha :D One love

I felt little offense to know an Indian doesn't know about their country, but it's OK for her it's acceptable as she grew up somewhere else... lucky you mentioned that! and there's no 52 States in India it's 28 including 7 union territories when I studied at 6th grade hope it's 29 now not sure Google for yourself!😁 ..... anyway nice video

      Prakash Rai I suppose, but I don't think they're going to be travelling to Nepal any time soon. Most of their episodes are in California, and once in a while in other places in America. Not too many Nepali people or venues in America.

      Prakash Rai I do let them decide, but I'm saying, they do episodes on topics people care about. Most people in America, even Asians, don't even know where Nepal is or what a Nepali looks like.

    I listen to a lecture and India was a Ethiopian colony back in the day until they were taken over. When i say back in the day i mean like 3000 to 5000 years ago.. The lecture was on early people and development of religion there.

      " I listen to a lecture and India was a Ethiopian colony back in the day until they were taken over. "
      Taken over by who?
      As a history student i can tell u there was no Ethiopian colonisation of india. Maybe it was an african pride seminar (no sarcasm, just a guess, coz I've seen those videos myself). At most there were Gujarati traders trading with Ethiopians and they settled there. because that long ago travelling and coming back was not as easy as today. One reason why a few Ethiopians girls look indian, especially in harar.
      India was once called Eastern Ethiopia (a euro centric view) and Some parts of Eastern Africa were called part of 'Greater Indies'. Just because of that i can't claim east africa was an indian colony. May be someone took that as proof of colonisation that you claim.
      What you might be referring to 3000 to 5000 years ago could be the first migration of africans into india who settled in the indus valley, but that date would be way earlier than 5000 years, more like 20,000 years ago - then they would still have been nomads (or settlers), not colonisers. 3000 to 5000 years, if you believe the unproven aryan invasion theory, there were aryans who settled in the indus, Saraswati and Gangetic basin.
      (Aryans were people from south of Russia not sure of the exact location - pls don't think aryans as white, blond and blue eyed as most americans do, that was a distortion by predecessors of hitler in the Thule society. Aryan is a sanskrit word meaning nobel/civilised people these people include the population from Iran to northern india. Fun Fact: Even today Indians and iranians still name their children Aryan. India's original name was arya-vartha meaning "land of aryans". Also Iran gets it name from Arya-na, meaning "Land of the Aryans" cool huh. It's got nothing to do with White supremacy and hitler)
      Sorry bro, history is such a subject where there are no short answers.
      Apart from trade, cultural and genetic exchanges there was no colonisation.
      Ah and the hindu religion is a mixture of those early indus valley peoples animistic beliefs that was absorbed into the more dominant aryans religion to birth Vedic religion, that evolved into hinduism.
      And yes, i am a believer of the Out of Africa theory.

    In the UK, actually, when you say Asian, normally you think of Indian, Pakistani and Bangladeshi. For example, on forms, you have the option for 'British-Bangladeshi' but not for Vietnamese etc.

    Great episode guys, you elevated your game by "going in" on cultural topics instead of just sticking to foodie stuff. Hopefully in the future, China and India will be able to resolve their political differences and join forces one day. Btw, David's got a dope Indian accent.

    Umm, I find your assumption that 'people from Pakistan, Sri- Lanka and parts of 'Arabia' love Indian food' problematic. It's not like the food or ingredients belong solely to what we now know as modern day India. Pakistan was obviously part of India before partition, and Sri-Lanka too has close links culturally to the south of India, so I don't think you should say that people from those cultures love 'Indian food' when it is very much part of their own food too....

      no. the "land bridge" theory is quite faulty, and only a way to discredit the identity of native tribes. It's like saying Germans are descended from Mongolians because there's a land route.

      yes. If you take a genetic test, Native Americans and East Asians are in the same category. In fact, if you look at more Latino's genetic tests, a huge chunk will be East Asian

    • @ms3173
      @ms3173 10 лет назад

      Mimi Martin Native American DNA is not related to East Asians DNA.
      and Mexicans,Central Americans and South Americans are not "Latinos".
      "Latinos" are the Southern Europeans.

    I am Bengali it's next to India however not many people on the internet know about my country. I live in London and there are sooo many Bengali's everywhere however when I come on to youtube and I see videos noone has really heard of Bangladesh. Me and my friends we call each other Asians even though one if Filipino, Pakistani, Chinese. Whatever country that is in Asia I consider Asians.
