- This is an easy stitch pattern, I created and and gives a lot of nice texture to your work. A special thanks to Theresa Higby for her Purl Over Stitch that I used as part of my stich. This is a stich video so you will have to work up an edge if you use it in a flat project. Here are links to the cast on a bind off I would use with this.
CAST ON • Crochet Chain cast on ...
BIND OFF • Very Stretchy Bind Off...

As a new loom knitter I was initially intimated by this pattern, but you explained and showed each step so clearly. My scarf is underway and the pattern is beautiful, so much texture. Thank you for sharing 🎉❤
You truly are amazing how you teach, it's like being in the room with you.
Thank you.I was practicing with you.
thank u so much for teaching the new stitch!!! thank u again!!!
New here..I like that stitch..I loom knit also
This is my favorite stitch so far. It is so beautiful! Thank you.
I just used this stitch on KB loom, the longest one they have with small pegs. It looks BEAUTIFUL! It almost looks like I'm knitting fabric on a machine, it looks so perfect and satisfying.
Thanks what an easy stitch going to use for the body of a hat! Can’t wait to try it!
Have nice weekend love viedo
Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful pattern and explaining so very well. . You are a lovely teacher 🥰
Thank you for the clear instructions! Finally I’ve learnt two new loom stitches!
Me too
Just what I was looking for! Thanks
I just did a hat using purl stitch and the true knit stitch or a reverse purl stitch. Will use this for a guys Rasta hat with wool dreadlocks.
Another great stitch! Thank you! I love no purls
Lovely stitches. Never seen this one before.
This is a gorgeous stitch. So much texture!
Thank you for another great video. I love the way you explain all the details.
Love the colors of your yarn!
I wish I had a look!! Your work and tutorials are just awesome!!
Thank you so much for showing exactly what yarn and about your loom also! These details are often left out of videos and will hugely impact the final result.
Great tutorial, can't wait to finish the hat on my loom to try this one. QUESTION: can someone tell me the rule of thumb, in inches, from edge of brim to crown for (S) toddlers, (M) tweens, teens, women and (L) big head men? Obviously counting rounds does not work due to yarns used and knitter's specific tension so this would be so helpful to avoid a "slouchy" hat that the pom pulls the hat down in the back. Thanks so much!!
there are charts just google that and it gives you that. i never refer to charts i measure heads or measure favorite hats.
beautiful stitch will try
Wonderful. Easy stitch and it looks great. Thank you for sharing this!
Marvelous!
Btw I love this stitch with a thinner yarn and looser weave for an infinity scarf. Lovely. Especially with eyelets.
Another great stitch tutorial. Thank you so much
Oh beautiful, love these two new stitches I can use to spice up my hats and scarves 👍 very clear presentation! 10/10
Luv it!!!!!! Next project coming up. Well explained. Thank u. Happy holidays
Beautiful Work! Only suggestion I am asking is I wished I could have seen you start the project and when u end the project..
its a stich video. if you want to see a start and end you should watch my project video
@@DeborahShaw maybe you could direct us to a video you have showing start to finish.
@@teresacharles3081 I have tons of videos and a lot are start to finish. I made a purse with this one
@@teresacharles3081 she did
Have nice love 💘💕 your videos
REET (say hi to your bird for me! ❤)
Very nice work. Love the colours. My question is you need to cast on even amount pegs(20,48, 100..ect( or can you do odd amount pegs) I would like to make blanket....thanks 😊
it doesnt matter odd or even or how many pegs
@@DeborahShaw Thanks for the update. It's a beautiful stitch. Thank you for sharing. 😊
You mentioned we could do this stitch in the round. How do you do this-do you do one row as owl and one row with the purl?
you dont use purl at all with this. its one row of owl eye and one row of purl over and thats what you do in the round as well.
Will you be showing when finish, takeing it off of the loom, need to see that, thanks
this is a stitch video so i will never be showing completion to a stitch video, but i do have this in a project video. its a purse and i have a playlist to help you find it
Where’d you get that beautiful pick?
it was from we have a handle on this but they no longer make them. There are similar ones on etsy
Hi @Deborah Shaw, @Theresa Higby regarding the Purl Over stitch isn't it a True Knit Stitch? So should be called the True Knit Flip stitch? No matter what it's called, it is an awesome stitch but it seems that the actual stitch was an actual true knit stitch but it really doesnt matter. I am trying really hard to learn these different stitches but I am struggling with them.
The name is confusing but do my best to explain it.
It’s theresa’s tiny heart stitch
Do you need an odd or even number of pegs. Or multiples? This would make a nice shawl!💜
even or odd it doesnt matter and there are no multiples.
I love this stitch, thank you so much for the tutorial. Is it better to use a bulky yarn to get the texture or could I use a 3/8" gauge with appropriate yarn and still get the same texture?
Any gauge with the right yarn will work.Do a swatch to see what it looks like.
Absolutely Beautiful! This will be my first project as I just casted on. Will send pics of finished scarf 😊
I have one question... Once casting on and knitting over last peg do I continue knitting over till I reach 1st peg or start purl over stitch? Thanking you in advance for your reply.
you do a whole row on direction and another stich the other direction.....unless you are knitting round.
I still don’t understand your explanation below. Do I go back with the purl over after casting on?
Deborah, Thank you so much for the tutorial! I have started my scarf, but I am unsure what to do with the tail? Also, love hearing your birds in the background.
weave it in after
New to loom knitting. Can you use different yarn
yes
I have a question can a pearl over take the place of the pearl ?
no it cant. But it does slightly stop curling because it tightens up straight but it is not the opposite of a knit stich. In this case owl eye does knot curl like knit so the purl over works with it.
how do you fix a slipped e-wrap stitch after casting off?
Answered you on that same question on another of my videos
Trying this stitch today, is it normal for the stitches to be super tight after the row of purl-over?
you need to keep them loose. The purl over is much tighter so very important to keep it loose.
Love love love this stitch! Can you tell me where you got your hook?
They dont make them anymore but there are similar ones on Ravelry
Love the stitch!!! But don't use Bernat blanket yarn, it doesn't have any give and you need stretch to complete this stitch.
You're wrapping too tight. Because I've used bernat blanket yarn just fine for this.
Those are nice but can you start from the beginning of your videos on how to start from your looms. Thank you
Stitch videos are just the stitch. If you want the project then go to a project video. Also I give links to the cast on and cast offs i would use for most projects on the video description so you are covered already
Deborah Shaw, new to your channel, wonderful tutorial, thanks! Is there a video of how you cast off, or is this the same cast-off as the Cobblestone headband?
There are links to the cast on and bind off i would use in the description.
Thank you I am learning so much! I'm new so I'm wondering if this is a yarn and stitch that could make a tight knit baby blanket. I got a 100 peg CinDwood 5/8 loom that I am wanting to start my first project! I'm concerned about the little fingers not getting caught. Thank you so much!

Hello Deborah, I really like this stitch, but I am wondering if you have any tips on getting the owl eye row stitches to be looser. On each second peg stitch I am having a really hard time getting it over the top without pulling off the just placed thread as well. I hope my question makes sense.
pull on the loop after you knit it to loosen it
Should show from beginning
you don't show from beginning on a stitch video...its stitch only for those who don't need a project video...if you want a project video then watch one of those, they are for those who want to see what you want.
That's beautiful. Can a 20 peg 1/2 gauge be used?
You can use any loom and gauge as long as your yarn works with it.
@@DeborahShaw i just got gifted a cindwood 20 peg 1/2 and having trouble finding pattern etc lol. Thank you Deborah!!!❤️♥️
@@DeborahShaw that's what i figured was just double checking
Love this stitch. My question is what did you use to cast on and bind off the project? Thanks. (Beautiful colors by the way)
you need to look at a project video instead of a stich video, all the info is there and can use the same cast on and bind off I used in this project in this video. I did not do a edge treatment for a scarf though only for a bag that gets its sides attached so if you do a scarf you may need a better edge treatment. ruclips.net/video/dL4vE3_kN_w/видео.html
Hi Deborah I have completed a square of cobblestone stitch. I have rechecked and rechecked but mine has twisted. I used a 36 peg for a flat panel of 30 pegs using large gauge round loom and chunky yarn for 6mm needle. My first one is twisted my second one again same thing is happening; even tried the chain cast on to see if would make a difference. It is a beautiful stitch lovely and thick. The pattern:
Row 1 - Owl eye
Row 2 - uwrap 1, purl over stitch finish with a uwrap 1
Continue... Is this correct?
What are you making and what edge did you use? This is a stitch video so you need to use a good edge that wont curl. i made a purse so i didn't worry about some curling since it would be attached. But you need a 2 or 3 peg owl eye edge or a garter or seed stitch edge if you want your square to lay flat. You should do a border of a few garter or owl eye border might work. If you look at the description i told you it was a stitch video and you would have to work up an edge to use it.
Hi Deborah, appreciate your reply. I was hoping to make a squares to make a blanket. I agree perhaps the uwrap isn't ideal. As you suggested will try another edging as I think at the end of Owleye I was then in that same last peg doing a uwrap perhaps that was what caused the twist. I will definitely try again. Thank you so much x
@@cutbeard yes uwrap is not a good edge on this piece at all. A good edge is one that prevents curling. Its important to do swatches to see what works when you are doing a piece from a stitch video especially.
How do we cast on the first row.???
Watch a project video to find cast ons. This is a stitch video or there is a link to the cast on in the description of this video
I ran out of yarn and I bought more but how do i attach to the other yarn
Sharee Euhus tie it in a knot with the new yarn
@@BurticusBlackwood there are a lot of attachment methods..look at youtube and see what you like.
My chain-stitch cast on using a round loom, is really loose and looks kind of sloppy. Can someone tell me why this is happening?
either you yarn is too small for the gauge or you are casting on too loose
I love this stitch! I made this on a long loom to make a blanket. However it came out in the shape of a trapezoid. Any ideas what I may have done wrong?
This stitch is longer one way than the other so that may be why it did depending on the tension you used. You can block it or stretch it and make the yarn over looser and the owl eye tighter to compensate in another project.
Making this now into a scarf. Love this stitch and have used it before for an ear warmer. For some reason the sides are curling like crazy. Help ! What can I do. I'm using a #4 yarn this time. Does that have something to do with the curling? Thanks for your advice.
Maybe you need a looser tension on the edge. If that isnt enough you can try a garter stich edge. None of mine ever curled but we all knit differently .
Ok thanks. I will try to loosen my stitch ends. I'm about 3ft into it so I'll see what happens. I'll just keep working it.
What cast off did you use?
this is a stitch video so i don't believe i cast it off...i made a purse with it. I would have put a cast off and bind on in the description though...scroll down.
How does it start.
look at a project video to see a start. This is a stitch video so it shows the stitch only.
How do you start this project
this is a stitch video to see a start go to a project video.
Can this stitch be used for making a hat?
You can make anything you want it works in the flat and in the round.
Can this be done a straight loom? Or does it need to be a round?
any loom
I am using large one how do it how many pigs are u useing
You do as many pegs as you want the size to be.
Can I use a knifty knitter long loom?Which one?
You can use any loom you want
Deborah Shaw Thank you!
Would these stitches work for a blanket?
owl eye makes a great blanket but I wouldn't pick cobblestone stitch for one myself.
Deborah Shaw I was wondering if this stitch pattern would work joining strips. I have a couple of small Afghans, I did learning how to loom, gave them to grandkids, but need to enlarge them. Already added a skein in owl eye stitch to one. Adding to that one, wanted to try this out.
Yes you can use my video joining strips on the loom and it will work with it.
Why is this point twisted? She leans over. Thanks
You were likely too tight on the purl over
@@DeborahShaw I will try again. It is possible to activate the subtitles in Spanish. Thanks
@@DeborahShaw I really like this point
@@ninagarcia2747 I dont know.
Is that a 48 peg cindwoood loom?
I should say in the video. I cant remember off the top of my head.
Deborah Shaw thank you
Hi there how are you hope alls well
