I just did 5 hrs of yard work and my lower back was yelling at me. Now, I do yoga every single day with Brett but I was really afraid I wouldn't be able to get outta bed in the morning. I just did this simple short practice and it feels sooooo much better. THANK YOU. Amazing
My daughter told me about this fantastic yoga teacher that she listens to and practices with regularly. after a long flight and not able to get out to my regular yoga class because of a ice storm, I used the yoga for lower back pain and it was fantastic. thank you so much.
Wonderful stretches, these have really helped my chronic back pain, (20 years) the pain has shifted since I have been doing these excercises to a different area, and now it is less severe, and feels on the mend. I highly recommend.

i absolutely love you as a yoga instructor I've watched many you explain it so well. i know when I'm doing something wrong because you'll say it feels like this or like that so if it doesn't.. i know I'm doing it wrong. I've had lower back pain for a couple years now.. and I'm young! just a mix of stopping sports after high school and all that jazz.. i did this routine the other day i felt some ache just positions my body hadn't been in for awhile,, and right when i laid down i felt the best pop of my life! a pop I've been needing for a long time!! now idk if that was suppose to happen but I've been feeling great ever since. thank you dear

Nice! For those with low back issues, that rolling up from a forward fold can make back issues WORSE unless you really learn to press your feet into the floor and use your thighs to push you up instead of pulling up with the low back... People with weak thighs will put more and more pressure on their low back, making back worse. Thighs get weaker and weaker, putting more pressure on back and it is a vicious cycle. MUST use thighs in going from forward fold to upright!
Wow! I had no idea how tense my back was! Just tucking chin into chest sent a crazy intense stretch down both sides of my backbone! I couldn't even fold! I think my bad breastfeeding posture is to blame. Thank you Brett for your classes! I can practice yoga in the quiet of the early morning while my children are still sleeping. No gym necessary! You're the "greatist!"

This short practice amazingly relaxed my back. I woke up this morning with my lower left back tweaking and I know this is the start of when my back use to go out. Since doing yoga pretty much daily with you I have not had that issue but I sat at a sewing machine for several hours yesterday and I think that is what got it going. I feel much more flexible without the tweak after doing this practice. I will come back to this anytime I have lower back issues. Thank you Brett you are my go to girl. Namaste!
Great routine I had back surgery several years ago and work all day long at my computer. I'm so Glad I found your teachings Bret! They're all great. I especially like this one, because I need to keep my back stretched on a regular basis, to keep the nerves from over reacting and tensing down my sciatic.

You are a great instructor. Easy to listen to and clear directives. I enjoy your routines. However, I threw my back out last week and was looking to loosen it up. I couldn't do these stretches... too painful.

BrettLarkinYoga : Yes I just did that video. You have mentioned not to do forward bending for Sciatica but the lowerback exercises are mostly forward bending .. confused!!
freezemathu The low back pain videos are for general back pain. Most people just have a tight low back, so forward bending and stretching is good. But if you have a doctor diagnosed slipped disc (aka official sciatica) the forward folding can be dangerous, esp if the injury is new. Basically, low back pain videos are for generic low back. People who have a herniated disc should do the sciatica specific video...you can read this article for more info: www.yogajournal.com/article/teach/protect-the-disks-in-forward-bends-and-twists/ Hope this helps! This has some helped deal with some pain I've been having until I can get to physio, but when doing the seated forward fold with my left foot against my right thigh, I feel pain in my right side (waist). Any idea what could be causing that? It doesn't happen for the other side.
Melissa Castle If the pain is manageable I would stay with it as this is likely very bound/tight fascia on your right side waist that needs to unwind. When I do these poses a lot of what I am feeling is in my side waist areas as well. Try to have patience and not go to far forward that the pain becomes overwhelming -- stay in a spot where you can breathe into it. Propping a lot of pillows under your torso / head might help! You can also try taking your left foot less high up on the thigh (like closer to the knee or calf) for a more modified version. keep me posted! xo

This was actually pretty helpful. I did get a little stir crazy during the second pose, but I am really bad at sitting still. Haha
