Brilliant - I've been using Boomr Bags for a while in my monotubs but have never tried fruiting straight from the filter bag. That could be a real space saver for me.
Hey Isabel! One fully colonized 3lb injection port grain bag can inoculate up to four Boomr Bags. A 6lb pre-colonized grain spawn bag can inoculate up to eight Boomr Bags. That said, the higher the ratio of spawn to manure substrate the faster the colonization and more reliable it will outcompete any mold spores that might make their way into your monotub, bag, or mushroom bed. The cleaner and more sanitized your inoculation space, the more you can stretch your spawn!
@NorthSpore I'm not even gonna lie I set this up and left it for like 3 months and it had a crazy vine of mycelium running throughout the bag I got three great flushes 😁
How long do you think the Boomr bag last safe and pasteurized if left untouched in box at average room temp? I have grain not quite ready to spawn, but I already have my bag.
As long as the bag itself isn't compromised at all (punctured, handled correctly) it should remain sterile until you're ready to inoculate for a year or more. If the bag has been compromised, you'll be able to see mycelium or contaminates growing on the substrate. If that is the case, don't use it and we will replace!
Mushrooms grow quickly, the trick is getting to them before the slugs find them. Sprinkling diatomaceous earth around the borders of your bed is also an effective organic method.
@@NorthSpore They eat the pins before they can even get to a size worth harvesting. DE is a good call, but Seattle weather washes everything down and keeps the slugs happy. lol Thanks.
@@Katarjana most years in Maine we have the same issue, but not during this drought year... Maybe some sort of impermeable shade cloth or tarp with DE and some periodic watering to make sure there is adequate moisture in the bed? At least you get those WA foraging seasons! jealous!
Boomr Bags are meant to be mixed with colonized spawn. We have a sterilized grain bag with an injection port here: northspore.com/products/sterilized-grain-bags-with-injection-ports-3lbs
So I want to use this between two different tubs that are colonizing at different speeds, so basically I’m splitting the manure between growth sessions. When I use it but not all of it, do I re pasteurize the unused substrate? How do I do that? Thank you
We don't recommend this. Once a bag is opened, it should be used immediately. Attempting to sterilize again isn't advised. For one thing, the bag will get weaker, but it is possible.
So i made a rookie mistake and injected my spores into the Boomr bag, ive added grain and mixed it up, is there any hope that the spores will do there thing or did i waste a syringe?
Question, did you use perlite or vermiculite? A certain species of mushroom most are probably here for which I aim on growing needs a a lot of water. I plan on growing the spawn in a bag and then using a monotub. You seemed to use nothing in the monotub besides the substrate.
Hello! Some growers recommend using vermiculite to case monotubs but new research into the connection between vermiculite mining and contamination from asbestos should give pause to this practice. Coco coir works equally as well and is a safe alternative, that is what we use in the video and what we recommend!
I order and inoculated straight to the bag and left it . He finally POPPED FREAKING 2 MONTHS LATER 😊🥰🥰✌looks so healthy Thanks
Oh ya!!!

Glad to hear they've been working well for you! Martha vid is coming soon!
Do I have to water if they are inside I’ve been told that the boomer bags are ready to go and no need to pasteurize them
Heard the Ben Gravy intro song and got confused where I was for a sec. Looks great!
Thanks for your support!
Hey there! I’m thinking of getting one and wanted to know the recommended ratio of substrate bags to grain bags! Thanks!

North Spore thank you so much!
North Spore hey how many ml of spore injection into a grain spawn bag? Thank you!
@@NorthSpore So one Boomr bag will be enough for one colonized 3lb injection port grain bag?
Can I just say I injected directly into the bag and got a strong yield❤
That's pretty awesome! How long did it take to colonize?

@@NorthSpore alright I should be great then. I appreciate your reply (and your work).
@@NorthSpore so with it being already passed the rise does that mean it’s ready to go
@@NorthSpore so does that mean the boomer bag is ready to go out the box without watering
How do you keep slugs off your beds?
Mushrooms grow quickly, the trick is getting to them before the slugs find them. Sprinkling diatomaceous earth around the borders of your bed is also an effective organic method.

I don't know if this would work for mushies, but beer traps work for strawberries!
I see ya'll prepping your content for national legalization :)
😉
Just ordered this. There is not injection port? So you go straight to monotub? There are no instructions

The video shows the substrate and grain being mixed together in the tub but is it necessary to add water at this step or is the substrate good as is?
They are both hydrated and no added water should be necessary for this step.
High! What about the coco coir that comes with Grow Kit? Will it keep?
Yes, if kept closed and free of moisture, it will keep a very long time.

What happened here?
@NorthSpore what happened was that they still grew once I introduced grain to the mix, and I'm on my 4th flush!

Does this boomer bag work for bears head mushroom
It likely could! I would probably use our Wood lovr bag or even mix a Wood Lovr with a Boomr.
What kind of grain is that?
Our grain spawn is a proprietary blend of sterilized organic grains including millet and wheat berries.
