- Lelit In-Tank Water Filter 70L capacity installation. I replace the 35 L version that is good for about 3 months and replace it by is bigger version of 70 L that should be good for 6 months. Come and see me do this the Cajourno way.

3 months and 6 months? I think the red tabs on the watertank are not for date, but for counting the number of fills. 70 liter filter is for approx. 35 fills. So each time you fill the tank, you slide a number up.
You are right, make more sense but I will not start doing that each time I fill it up. Thank you very much for that correction of facts. I am sorry for my mistake.
@@CajournoOddity Perhaps you will not change anything, but changing the "filter" at the right time is quite important.
It also isn't really a water filter, but specifically a water softener, which works by replacing the Magnesium and Calcium in the water with sodium; it will not really "filter" anything else. However it only has a certain capacity before it runs of of sodium, at which point it will more-or-less be useless. This is why the instructions say to reduce the volumetric capacity if you have harder water, because it needs to replace more calcium/magnesium with sodium per litre, and will run out faster. The month ratings are just for hygienic reasons for people who don't use much of the capacity; since you don't want algae growing in your machine.
The marker on the tank is really easy to use. if you have 200ppm or less hardness, you can just use the full 70L capacity, since the tank is 2.5L, that is 28 refills (or 14 with the 35L); conveniently the marker on one side goes 0-14, and the other side is 0,15-28. My water is a bit harder, so I will only use 12/24 refills per cartridge. My technique is to just set the marker to 12/24 when i replace the softener, and then move it down by one every time i fill the tank from empty, then i don't even need to remember the total capacity until i replace the cartridge.
@@jackaw1197 Hi Jack, thank you for that explanation.
@@CajournoOddity No problem, I hope I didn't sound too harsh. I think water quality can be a pretty complex topic, and there is a lot of conflicting information around.
@@jackaw1197 not at all, it is important information. It is a good contribution ☺️
Hey! Great and very helpful video, i never had a clue how to install that filter, thank you!
Thank you for your comment 😊
Thanks for the video 👍🏼
I love how 2Pac made a quick cameo 🤣
Thank you for noticing ;)
Hello. Thank you for video. I have Lelit Anita l042temd and it has two tubes with the same size. How can I understand which one should be connected to a filter? Please answer. Thanks!!
Does anyone know what this little filter like thing in the tank is? Cant find anything about that
I know this is an old video but the water i intend to use will be a home recipe using filtered distilled water that i am remineralizing (no calcium) if i choose not to use the filter what do i do with the little hose inside? many thanks in advance
What is ur preferred dose for a double shot on the marax? I've had my machine for 2 months and find thet a 20g shot in the triple basket is very good for most beans.
18.5g usually, may vary with the kind of beans. I will try with the triple basket with 20g :)
Quick question: do you have the switch set to steam priority? When I have it set to brew priority, it barely steams the milk (unless I’m doing something wrong). I tried to brew and steam at the same time, and the milk has zero froth. Thanks!
In brew priority the steam pressure varies, after maybe 15 to 20 minutes after starting the machine the steam will be higher but if I wait it will go Dow and then I need to steam after a pull a shot to get decent pressure. That is because it prioritizes the temperature stability for the brewing. I am using it for testing purpose in the steam mode priority and now the steam is stable. If you use the switch in front of the machine in steam mode, you can get 3 steam level. But now you are using the machine like a regular heat exchanger so will need to do a cooling flush before pulling your shot. You should try it and see for experimentation. The machine will take about 24 minutes to heat up compared to about 15 minutes in the brew mode.
@@CajournoOddity if I have it in brew priority, and try to steam right after pulling a shot, the steam pressure drops to about .5-1.0 bar and basically produces nothing but hot milk with no froth
@@23rz34 wait for it to get to 1.For me it is ready maybe 20 sec after finishing the shot. I am able to froth at 1 bar. Then there is the question of the milk you are using and the technique to produce the froth. I am very bad at frothing but I do get texture doing it at 1 to 1.2 bar. If you want to try it in Steam mode you should get better stable pressure. Hope it helped.
Hey have you ever had issues with the block rubber holding the filter being slimy?
No but i will check 😊
I have, i give it a proper clean every 2 months for any slime buildup.
What is your ppm in the water you put into the tank? I live in a place with 150 to 200 ppm off n the water. We use a filter in our refrigerator as the source of our water for coffee. Would this softener help?
HI, I dont know my ppm for my water. I rely on this filter for filtering my water. I think it would help but I am no water expert. I would ask at the shop where your machine come from what do they think.
@@CajournoOddity thanks for the reply. I did ask them but it’s the weekend and they hadn’t replied yet. This led me to RUclips for some research. I was just looking for an opinion if you had one. No worries. Thanks again and I enjoy your videos. Looking forward to seeing more. Cheers!
Where did you purchase your Lelit water filter? As they are hard to get!
At idrinkcoffee.com
Is everything working ok after the 70l installation? I thought I read that the 70l caused an issue for someone so they went back to the smaller filter. Thanks
The first espresso took a lot of time. After everything seems fine. The problem was with a marax? I will monitor to see if problems manifest.
@@CajournoOddity I installed the same for my Elizabeth, no problem yet. 😁
@@sebastrem05 let us be vigilant 😉
Can you also take the filter out and buy external Water filter and put water in?
I am not certain but I think you can.
Does it fit for Lelit Grace? Or only the 35L fits?
I am sure it would fit it is only taller than the 35L. But I would ask where you bought it to be certain you don't want any issue. Sorry I cannot confirm it to you.
Great vid, man, love that lamp! What does your channel's name mean?
Cajourno is a old nickname that i gave myself and oddity is the weirdness i exude 😉 thank you 😊 for that comment

Hi, What's the website name to order the 2 filters pack in Canada? Order place?
HI, here is the link.

It’s enough to put the filter in water with marine salt to completely restore it, once a week approx. This process will extend it’s life till about a year. Remember, these are resin filters ;)
Did not know that, thank you 😊
Can you explain?
@@CajournoOddity Did you try it?
