WASH YOU HAIR BEFORE IT GET DRY AND TANGLE!! If your hair dries around the fourth or fifth day, it is time to do your routine again. Do not try to stretch your wash and go if your hair is already dry. You’ll end up with more breakage and tangles that can be avoided. 🙃
What about if you don't have time to wash your hair again? I usually stretch mine to about 5-6 days (Sunday-Friday usually) with a refresher at around day 3 or 4. One of my best tips for growth is cutting combs out of your detangling routine. Tiahna Grace personally I like to rake and smooth my hair when I finger detangle. That removes the tangles and smooths my cuticle. It will definitely get easier the more you do it. Invest in a great conditioner and great deep conditioner for detangling!

Wash n gos make my hair flourish!!! The minute I switch up my styles, like a twist out or braid out I notice a big change in my hair. I'm a wash n go girl also, and my hair flourishes with it. Wash n go just kind of chose me because I'm style challenged and I found wash n go to be the easiest thing to do. I know a lot of ladies say wash n go isn't for type 4 hair, but I have found for my type 4 hair it has been a lifesaver.
First things first I'd like to acknowledge this BOMB ass wash & go 😩 Just when I thought they couldn't get any better. Anywho, I wholeheartedly agree! Wash & gos are my #1 go to. I have to put so much effort into twist outs, braid outs, etc. for them to actually be successful, I'd rather just use that time & effort into perfecting my wash & gos.
The coarseness of your strands also helped you to retain length. Not everyone can manipulation their as much as you do and retain the same amount of length, especially people with fine strands. Your strands are definitely resilient.
@@ellegoddessessentials2547 Finally Amber has a loose curl pattern and her hair clumps really easily. If you have fine strands and 4C hair, and minimal clumping , your hair needs stretching. Otherwise, you need lots of product on it to force clump and you still need to manipulate it into clumps=manipulation=breakage.
I have fine strands and all the type 4s My hair is prone to mid shaft splits which are exacerbated by stretching. I realized that my hair wanted to be free and stay in a shape. And my moisture lasts longer
I used to think wash-n-gos didnt work for my 4c hair until now. I think it has to do with length. It's long enough now (shoulderblade length) to not tangle up into a thick dry twa. Also, I needed to add a product under the gel. Melanin curl-elonging twist cream or the tgin buttercream leave-in have before adding gel made all the difference.
It's craazzyy because contrary to popular belief protective styling actually hindered my hair growth these past 6 or 7 months due to a lot of manipulation and dryness. I was thinking back to when I first went natural and I did not protective style as much and my hair FLOURISHED. I found my moisture balance and was deep conditioning often. I also used to never think I had a real curl pattern too, it's crazy what a little TLC and patience can due. My tip would be learn your hair and don't follow every natural hair myth. What works for one curl may not work for another, and that could even be on your own head top
I used to get single strand knots when I did wash and go’s. The problem was I wasn’t using enough water nor product to really coat my strands. My wash and go’s would only last 2 days max but now I have learned to fully coat my strands and moisturize correctly and my hair is flourishing. My hair used to be mid back length and now it’s almost waist length. I owe it all to wash and go’s and protective styling and learning how to do it correctly!
I love wash and gos. Been natural for maybe 10 years now and like you've said, if I do stray away, I always tend to come back. Yes, even in the fall and winter. Wash and gos are my go to style and it is very low manipulation. It has helped my hair grow tremendously.
You could not have said it any better! I have been natural for 2+ years and wash and go's have been my staple style since. Finally happy to add I have found the holy grail products (leave in, oil of choice, coco creme and twist & loc gel) that help me stretch the style for 7 days with low manipulation and no extra products to re moisturize during the week. Hair is flourishing and growing with trims every 5-6 mos.
Girl!!!! The truth!!!! For the first yr & a half, I only did wash & go's. My hair FLOURISHED. Within a yr, my hair was shoulder length when stretched. Now I'm at 3 yrs and for the last yr & a half, I've mostly done twist outs and my hair growth has slowed. It's really disappointing. ☹ Girl, thank you for reminding me to get back to what I know! 😁😁😁
I’ve been one to say wash n go’s aren’t for me but between her and a few other amazing women on RUclips I’ve mastered a wash n go with no single strand knots. She talked about routines but I want to add small details work. One thing I noticed when she does a wash n go she puts leave in all over her hair then she adds the gel. I used to add leave in and immediately slap gel on and then wonder why my hair dry. I noticed when I added it first it and allowed the leave in to soak into my hair it was so soft and curled naturally on its own and it turn I needed less gel. Also I only shingle the front of my hair now because it tangles so bad if I do. That’s just my take on it and I’m still learning.
necilya for me I will heat stretch on day 1 but if your hair can stay stretched banded I would just do that instead. Also I don’t shingle I used to get a ton of ssk doing it so I stopped about a yr ago and noticed a difference. I do not over define my hair at best I’ll use a hard gel(eco, style factor) once a month to be cute but 9 times out of 10 it’s a hair mousse because on like day four I can do big twists to re stretch it. I am high porosity tightly coiled so I don’t know if it will work but just try out different things
I can’t do wash n goes too much cause I get too many single strand knots. I’ll do them every other week. I like to switch off with twists and twist outs.
I like these videos because I am one to say wash and go's are not for me. I also don't like the shrinkage, but thank you for the information being consistent with wash and go's are key.
same! if i were to do a washngo my hair would look like a twa(nothing wrong w/that it just doesnt suit me) but when i do braidou i see real my real length
im at a boring dead end with my hair right now lol, so im binging all of your wash and go videos to give it a try (ive tried them before but it kinda flopped) and all the comments are giving me so much hope, im exciteddd😝
I transitioned for 2 years and have been natural for a year I did predominantly wash and gos for the year and my hair grew so fast because I was constantly keeping it moisturized. A mistake that people do when they protective style all the time is not caring for their hair while in one. They get braids for two months and don't moisturize at all. Put in twists or braids with their own hair and just let it frizz and dry out because it's their time off from doing their hair. With natural hair and the risk of becoming dry, you should always be maintaining the moisture no matter what 💯🤗
I just started doing wash and go’s about November of last year I wanted to give up on this low porosity 4c hair started watching you and Kim and a few others that only focused on wash and go’s and I can finally say I understand my hair what it likes and what it doesn’t like and what works for me after doing twist outs for 3 years I’m finally able to do a successful wash and go and I’m hooked thanks so much for these videos I learning and understanding my hair
I am so happy that you did this video. I am a hair chopper, but I decided to let it grow this entire year. And...I cannot STAND doing the twist outs right now. I always felt wash and go’s were lower maintenance, but I thought I ABSOLUTELY had to twist to see length. Thank you so much ❤️😊
As long as I baggy/GHE nightly in this Arizona desert air...whole head or ends only my hair flourishes. Most people hate humidity but I LOVE it because my hair LOVES water. Can’t wait until we move to Merida. It’s a tropical/humid climate there = good hair day ERRDAY for me. Great vid💜👍🏾
Thank you for the tips! Wash n gos are the only style I know how to do with my natural 4c hair. Sometimes it feels that my hair isn't growing, but I know it is and I sometimes miss my shorter wash n gos. It used to be that I couldn't wait for my hair to hang, but now I miss how it would stand up into an afro. I also tend to cut my hair a lot because it grows uneven and I don't like pieces hanging longer than others. Anyway, the bottom line is I love being able to wear my hair in a state that it naturally wants to be in!
When I first started out returning to natural, twist-outs were my go-to. I tried and failed many wash n gos so I just stayed away lol. But recently I guess since my hair has grown substantially I have been LOVING the W.A.G 🥰 it’s an easy and quick style. Not to mention I love what my curl pattern looks like. I will never stray from it again 😝
Yassss come through THE type 4 wash n go queen 👸🏽. Well one of them cause Kim is also a queen in the wash n go department. I mean NOBODY and I mean NOBODY can beat you guys doing wash n go in your type 4 hair 🤩🤩🤩😍😍😍
Honestly after I actually mastered my routine it’s been up hill since then. I don’t get nearly as many tangles! I can transition to other stylers easier too. I can put my hair in a low puff, or half up half down. Its easier to moisturize and refreshed. I put a bonnet or a scarf on when my hair doesn’t need to be out and that has helped with friction and it rubbing against things. & You’re right consistency is key! I love watching your videos because we literally be on the same page. I talk to my fiancé and curl friends about the same thing and then see you confirm and say the same thing. Great video as always! Love the hair & this cute top🥰🤗 AMEN!! Length will come healthy hair!!
Jaelen, thanks for this info...I literally just figured this out over this last year. I’ve been natural since 9/2012...but over this past year I have seen the most growth just doing wash and go’s.
my hair used to grow crazy fast and long when I was only doing wash and gos with no other products, just poo and conditioner. now i'm doing protective styles and using products my hair grows soooo slowly and breaks/damages so much easier
Crazy you posted this. I strayed from wash and go’s not bc anything was wrong but I wanted to try protective styling .. never again .. lol if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Wash & go’s work!!
I remembered when I first big chopped in middle school I did nothing but wear my twa then wear Wash n Go’s for 3 years I retained all of my length. But I knew nothing about protecting my hair at night or combing properly so I had HORRIBLE Breakage lol. This video is the truth
I love wash n gos now that my hair is longer and I actually know what the hell im doing because at the beginning of growing my hair out It was a whole hot mess for one I wasn't thoroughly detangling my hair one of the biggest reasons a wash n go can completely fail two I wasn't moisturizing my hair thoroughly coating each strand i was being two stingy on the product application being the cheap skate I am it took me awhile to learn my hair and what works and doesn't work once I got it down packed almost two years later my hair is growing like a weed and its sooo much easier to maintain now my biggest secret is proper thorough detangling I finger detangle now that my hair is longer before I use to think finger detangling wasnt for me but I was shook by the way my detangling got easier not using combs its not for everybody I get it were all different not everyone's hair responds well to finger detangling some peoples hair needs a good tool to get them shed hairs out. But wash n gos are my go to now it clumps my curls to together keeping them in formation and from tangling up during the week vs if I wore my fro out.. Sometimes i still like just a simple fro. 😎 Im a 4a so its easier for my curls to clump and stay in place for a week or more but if you have a more fluffy harder to clump hair type twist and braids outs are great options because either way itll keep your curls stretched so they don't ravel around one another. My hair in its most natural state is fluffy and a fro but in a wash n go state I have defined bouncy coils. Find what works for you and use her tips we all have beautiful hair i dont care how loose or tight your curls are. I prefer to watch those who have tighter curls than mine I get tips from all type 3 and 4 curl types and customize them to work for my hair. Love your hair and treat it like fine silk whether its natural or relaxed its your crown. 👍🏾
i think you read my mind bc this is the video i needed!! before i got my haircut, i used to do wash & go’s religiously and my hair grew soooo much and my length was just poppin sis. it was colored but healthy. now that i’m trying to grow it again, barely any color in my hair, all i get is damn single strand knots and dry hair. like what’s really going on?! but imma start using these tips and stay on top of it! wish me luck 🤦🏽♀️💗
Jourdyn Osbey coloring hair can actually change the texture. You learned how to flourish with your color treated hair so maybe your virgin hair has different needs?
It's the penmanship for me. Your hand writing looks so neat loll. I just finished watching your most recent video on this and I'm honestly trying to gather as much info as possible on wash n gos for growth. I feel like they work so well for me already tbh! I'm excited to make this my long term, go to style and see the length come in :D.
I really don't understand protective styles I know people swear by them but... at the same time what's the point of buying all these expensive ass products and doing all this work, if your hair is just going to be hidden. Everyone says moisture and scalp stimulation is the key to growth.... Like how do u do that with weave or a wig glued to ur forehead? I understand twists because if you get them done right you can shower and stuff with them in but then they don't last as long so that kind of defeats the purpose....
Girl. Sitting under my hooded dryer right now. I used to go to bed with wet hair and I don't miss that life. My hair is is collar bone length, medium density, fine strands. With the dryer my hair is 95% after 30 minutes. I stretch my hair same day with banding. Hair is dry by bedtime and stretched in the morning (it only takes like 30 minutes-1 hour for the banding method to work, but there isn't really a reason to take it out before the morning when I do WNGs at night)
i realized while transitioning that protective styles like braids & twists only add tension which limits my hair growth so it's only weekly deep conditioning, wigs & wash n go's for me!
I feel like everything needs balance. Bc i know that even after after I clipped my ends, and I clipped like 3 inches. However my hair always gets extremely tangled when I do wash n gos. Which causes even more knots.
I wish you would have spoken about tangling and your ends. One thing I hear about type 4 and stunted growth with wngs is increase in SSKs and tangling.
Girl! I’ve been watching your videos non stop since I discovered you yesterday! Great info in this video, I’m taking 📝 bc I need to master a wash n go 😉
I am attempting wash and go again after first going natural and trying it and it didn’t work. But I believe that your hair can most definitely grow with wash and go. It doesn’t even make sense to think otherwise lol
Omg I needed this I’ve been struggling with just doing wash n go’s or wearing wigs to allow my hair to retain length but I don’t wanna damage my hair by manipulating it too much when doing wash n go’s😩 I also big chopped 1 month ago
I did WNGs for a year. All that manipulation broke off my hair 😭 I guess I don't know what a good routine is for my hair. I deep conditioned every shampoo, co-washed every 2-3 days, Ieave-in and gel, and breakage city. My problems are tangles and knots at the ends and tangled, puffy roots. WNGs don't hold définition long enough at my roots even when I apply gel. So all that shrinkage just lead to problems. I've been doing two strand twists for the last few months and I'm finally retaining length again.
Great tips! I think you covered everything especially about having a clean scalp. I like using Cantu acv rinse or diy acv rinse sometimes in between wash days or after I shampoo to detoxify my scalp and hair. I also try to use bentonite clay every month or two.
I'm glad don't have to deal with figuring out what products go together. Because I always use my diy flaxseed gel, which does a good job for me and a great moisturizer.
Congratulations on your sponsorship! You look beautiful and I love the off the shoulder shirt! 💕💝 I have been deep conditioning every week also bought a nice new hooded dryer to help with my wash n go technique! I did notice a change with my hair health and thank you for all the great tips! My mistake was not cleaning my hair and scalp often enough, because I do exercise 5 days a week and all the sweat was just piling up. 🙏🏽💯
Today’s my first day doing a wash and go and I’ve been sleeping on these for so long. I’m hoping to get my hair hair out of my growth plateau with using wash and go’s
Thank you so much still experimenting with wash and go’s but because of you and Kimche I’m getting so much better. I love you videos so much, thanks for sharing and caring.
I guess I was hanging it up🥴 Lazy with this hair thing, so I definitely don’t be deep conditioning how I’m supposed to… but we about to grow! Butt length by Dec 2022! 😎
Thanks for this video, my hasn’t has stayed at the middle of my chest for like 3 years now. I recently found out about protective styles abut I just don’t look good with braids or twists. I’ve been putting my hair more in buns but I must be missing something in my hair routine I’ll need to figure it out 🤧 I love wash n gos ☺️
My issues with wash n gos is that I can never get my roots right. The product is on it no problem and they don’t get poofy or anything but they get TANGLED. Maybe it’s the gel and I need to use only creams. I big chopped in 2017 and all I do are twist outs now but I want to try a wash n go cuz waiting two days for twist to dry ain’t cutting it no more lol
My tips on hair growth is braids I love braids but I took a break an wearing a wig now while still taking care of my hair underneath. My hair is healthy I love deep conditioning. I want to try a wash an go definitely on my natural hair. I believe you wash an go's seem like a great way to grow your hair you add water an products so the hydration up keep does alot to your hair. It says water is great moisture an growth to your hair too! Love your hair an the video! 😁
Wash and go’s are cute but I feel like for my length they are not for me. (Not that I don’t think I have WNG hair) My hair is about collar bone length and when I try to do a wash and go my hair shrinks up to my ear or above. And with my texture my hair coils and clumps together a lot so my hair gets smushed every time. What I need help with is no matter what I do to stretch my hair to get the length I want, banding or similar steps, my hair shrinks up.
ChelseaaaaH11 I have the same problem. I love the simplicity of a wash and go but my hair shrinks up so much! Stretching doesn’t help and I end up just causing unnecessary frizz 🤷🏽♀️
I have to switch up my product combo in winter and summer. But I have been using the same products for about a year. My issue with grow is that I often cut my hair in the summer because I can’t take the humidity where I live. But I haven’t cut it this summer so maybe I will see amazing growth by winter.

@@politereminder6284 then where a stretch wash and go
I have fine strands and all the type 4s
My hair is prone to mid shaft splits which are exacerbated by stretching.
Ladylove123 I love that you said this bc I hear so many 4C ppl saying the can’t do wash n gos
I just started wearing wash and go’s and my hair has been flourishing!
Do you have any types on how to avoid single strand knots?
necilya for me I will heat stretch on day 1 but if your hair can stay stretched banded I would just do that instead.
Yesssss I love this video because my hair flourishes with nothing but wash n go!!! No protective styling here, it’s just NOT necessary!!!
My hair flourishes with wash n gos. Only protective style I do is buns.
With natural hair and the risk of becoming dry, you should always be maintaining the moisture no matter what 💯🤗
💯
I noticed when I started using better products wash n go’s became easier and lasted longer.
Did you move already or are you still in AZ?
I agree with you totally.. I’ve been washing and going for a few years and my hair is now longer then it was before..
Love the hair & this cute top🥰🤗
AMEN!! Length will come healthy hair!!
Jaelen, thanks for this info...I literally just figured this out over this last year. I’ve been natural since 9/2012...but over this past year I have seen the most growth just doing wash and go’s.
Wash n go's are definitely my go to style. You should do a vid on your favorite combos
i feel like you have such a unique type of hair...i have literally seen noone else with similar type (type, not necessarily ref to 3b/c/4a/b/c)
my hair used to grow crazy fast and long when I was only doing wash and gos with no other products, just poo and conditioner. now i'm doing protective styles and using products my hair grows soooo slowly and breaks/damages so much easier
Crazy you posted this. I strayed from wash and go’s not bc anything was wrong but I wanted to try protective styling .. never again .. lol if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Wash & go’s work!!
Yes! They do.
Heyyy guys how often do yall wash your hair
@@liltiaxx9941 Once a week.
honestly anywhere from 1-3 times a week but I have fine 3b hair that tends to get flat and oily really quickly. @@liltiaxx9941
Your hair is beautiful. My tip is do whatever works for YOU!! New subbie!!
Hey love and welcome 🤗🤗
Kaylen White Yes, you’re so right! I knew this but I didn’t even think about putting it into perspective wowww lol. Thank you
Jourdyn Osbey coming from someone who has dyed their at 20 times and cut it out and grown it back every time I understand! Lol
Your top is so cute! Hair looking bomb as usual 😍💚
Natural J Looks like a top I once bought from Fashion Nova
okay this is much needed cs i’m tryna grow my hair 😭🤞🏽
You know I got you ❤️😘
did it grow???
Routine, products and technique. WNG only, love them. So easy and simple.
Yes!! I dont subscribe to “dirty hair grows” either!!
Some people just want an excuse not to wash or do their hair lol. Like that girl that didn’t wash it for 3 months! 🤢
“If you’re not deep conditioning you might as well hang it up sis “🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
It's the penmanship for me. Your hand writing looks so neat loll. I just finished watching your most recent video on this and I'm honestly trying to gather as much info as possible on wash n gos for growth. I feel like they work so well for me already tbh! I'm excited to make this my long term, go to style and see the length come in :D.
Yessss I'm here for the Tips cause I'm feeling these wash Go's!! 💃🏾🙋🏾♀️💜
Myrna Joseph aye you know I got you!!
@@NaturalReign Ayeeee!!💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💜
I really don't understand protective styles I know people swear by them but... at the same time what's the point of buying all these expensive ass products and doing all this work, if your hair is just going to be hidden. Everyone says moisture and scalp stimulation is the key to growth.... Like how do u do that with weave or a wig glued to ur forehead? I understand twists because if you get them done right you can shower and stuff with them in but then they don't last as long so that kind of defeats the purpose....
Finger detangling works very well for me, i do not like to use combs or brushes😩
Does anyone else stretch their hair day 2? Like with a blow dryer ? Mine takes so long to dry and I’m always doing my wash and goes before bed
Dezaree Ang if u do it b4 bed, does it mean u leave them wet or do u dry them first
It’s usually wet when i go to bed sometimes it dries alittle
I need my edges to grow back lol
Me too😩😩
Tam Kam likewise
My hair is growing, but my edges are thinning, idk they’re naturally thin or not
@@crisdebelle me too. I noticed like 3months ago but idk if it's always been like that
Tam Kam yup, i think i just have naturally thin edges , because black castor oil or every other hair growth method hasn’t work for my edges
i realized while transitioning that protective styles like braids & twists only add tension which limits my hair growth so it's only weekly deep conditioning, wigs & wash n go's for me!
Was this a hair tutorial, or a life metaphor 😭😭😭 stop doing trash routinesssss! A mood. Also your hair looks bomb
Lol both of them sis!!
Her hair is always popping I love it
Avanti Wingate thank you sis!! 💗
I follow you all the time and I take your advice, now I finally found my perfect routine
Yes!! I love to hear it!! 😊
Thanks Jaelen
I will try more Wash N Go.
Please please try the wave formers..
can’t wait to see the results👍🏾
I think that can be arranged 😏
Girl! I’ve been watching your videos non stop since I discovered you yesterday! Great info in this video, I’m taking 📝 bc I need to master a wash n go 😉
“And that’s the truth, Ruth!” Honestly thought twist/braid/Bantu knot outs etc. we’re for transitioning hair 🤷🏾♀️
Information is key! Such a helpful video. My hair is flourishing now because I take better care and have a good routine. Thank you!
After my 30day detox I realized what my hair really felt like dry or moisturized. My hair has really grown and I know the products that my hair loves.
I love that you upload regularly! we appreciate you!

Love the new header btw ❤️❤️
Thank you sis! 😘😘
Great tips! I have a routine, deep conditioning weekly, learn your hair
I am attempting wash and go again after first going natural and trying it and it didn’t work. But I believe that your hair can most definitely grow with wash and go. It doesn’t even make sense to think otherwise lol
Your hair color is so pretty
Omg I needed this I’ve been struggling with just doing wash n go’s or wearing wigs to allow my hair to retain length but I don’t wanna damage my hair by manipulating it too much when doing wash n go’s😩 I also big chopped 1 month ago
Ericka Ruiz I got you sis!!
Love your hair!!! ❤❤ I'm considering visiting wash n go's more this spring/summer
Thank you for showing love boo!! You are gonna be all set. Deep conditioning and getting a hooded dryer changed the game for me!
Been waiting on this info from you. Thanks girl!
No problem boo!!
Why am I just seeing your channel 😔. I've been hearing that wash and go's aren't good for natural hair growth. New subbie here 😍
I really agree wash and go are really helping me
Thanks for the helpful tips Reign!!🤗 I Love your videos
Oh yeaaaa the perfume thingyyy is a great idea, i wanna try it out
Yesss!
Today’s my first day doing a wash and go and I’ve been sleeping on these for so long. I’m hoping to get my hair hair out of my growth plateau with using wash and go’s
Hello I use wash and go all the time and it has grow my hair a lot thanks for the tips
Thank you so much still experimenting with wash and go’s but because of you and Kimche I’m getting so much better. I love you videos so much, thanks for sharing and caring.
My wash n Go's with an oil rinse give me 3 to 4 days... I band my hair in about 8 sections nightly!!!
I guess I was hanging it up🥴 Lazy with this hair thing, so I definitely don’t be deep conditioning how I’m supposed to… but we about to grow! Butt length by Dec 2022! 😎
I just a WNG with KKC and this time, it turn out good. Ty so much
This is true and helps a lot. I deep condition twice a week because I wash twice a week.
I keep my hands in my hair and always want to “try something new “ that’s why I protective style
Heyyy Ulta gang!!!! Lol I work there now!
And no tips for growth.. here to soak up the tips hehe
I love your curls !! I can’t focus on what you saying because I’m to busy looking at your hair 😂😂
I have to switch up my product combo in winter and summer. But I have been using the same products for about a year. My issue with grow is that I often cut my hair in the summer because I can’t take the humidity where I live. But I haven’t cut it this summer so maybe I will see amazing growth by winter.
Glad i found this cuz i love wash and gos mainly cuz i love my texture how it is and if i can keep it then i shall
