Great video, and you're very beautiful. The only tip I have is that if you make a mistake, eventually it will grow out. It may be a long and grueling process, but if someone accidentally does something to their locks and then regrets it later, that section of damaged hair will eventually be pushed out by the new growth, and within a few years you will have fresh hair to replace any mistakes you made in the past. Time is the ultimate healer.
So happy i saw this video! I am 8months in with my locks and had no clue how to care for them. When i got them retwisted for the first time after 7months, the lady who did it didn't even tell me how to take care of my locks. Thank you for this very helpful "tip video".😊💖
Great video! Much can also be said about the damaging effects of being poorly hydrated, having a nutritionally deficient diet, not managing stress, and not getting enough sleep. Our hair - particularly when it's bound together as locs - is a strong indicator of our internal state of health (both physical and psychological).
I am thinking about getting locs so i'm doin a little research. I like the size of your locs. I would love for my hair to be down my back one day , yours are very nice as well. Thanks for the video sis
I just looked through all of your videos and just saw how your hair flourished. I just started my loc some days ago and you give me confidence to press on and get through the ugly stage, so they can look bomb❤
Kathaleen Thomas Thank you! Congratulations on starting your new journey! 😊 Remember it's all about perspective. No part of your journey has to be called or looked at as "ugly"😊. Yes, it will go through different stages, but it's all apart of the process 😊. Blessings on your journey 😊.
I’m so happy you put the segment about bleaching. my mom is a cosmetologist and she talked me out of bleaching my entire head but I still wanted to do it. She saved me because I know I would have soon regretted it. Your video was reassurance that I made the right decision.

Definitely agree with your advice about bleaching your locs, I keep my hair fully moisturized but my hair started shedding really bad after I got it bleached by a professional hair stylist. Am never taking that chance again.
i have '' handinhairsyndrome'' and im in need for some serious rehab , some got tips? Cause i do it subconsciously on autopilot nd that's the creepy part.
Jahmay Koulen, to be honest you have to learn from experience. When you start losing locks because you have twisted way too much. You will stop, just let that sink in. I'm on my second set. I kept my hands in my head. All the time, I lost 3 locks out of 200 grew them for 2 years middle of my back. This set I only have 120, 8 months in. Let your hair do its thing and use water to spritz it. Your babies love water.
Jahmay Koulen try not to twist your hair as much like once a month and wash your hair once week or every 2 weeks use coconut oil, any type of natural hair oils also, castor oil and Tea tree oil and rose water to spray your locs and scalp that helps for dry scalp, locs and hair growth
I add pigment (black color) is the only color I use every few months to cover my grey hair but love the blonde but will never do it because of the long term effects
I’m sure you’ve found something by now but I wanted to let you know anyway what I use. I love Bigen for my natural hair. I’m starting my Loc journey this weekend and have some gray up front I plan to continue to use that every few months because it works and it’s not harsh in my hair.
Thank you for the information there's so many people that have no idea what they're doing with their locks and all they need is to be educated I've had them for over 17 years it's been a long journey I'm just so happy to see people wanting to do the right things by their hair it's a beautiful experience take care of your hair everybody wash it all it treat it with love ! Thank you my sister again you're beautiful hair is beautiful keep up the good work and keep spreading the word
I have a request. Each video....do a quick show of your locks. Sometimes I just want to see the style you have or maybe see the length. Your locks rock girl!
I'm only about 5 weeks into my loc journey I had my first retwist literally a week ago. But if you look at my hair right now it looks super frizzy and it looks like they're unraveling. I see some budding though. Idk if what I'm going through is normal. I watch your videos for motivation your locs are so beautiful.
Sunshine Dee it's normal...at least for me it was. It took my 3rd retwist for the ones that unraveled (at my nape) to really loc and act like they had some sense
I'm gonna keep holding on I'm just so use to my hair looking neat. Plus not many people that I see on RUclips have or have had this problem that I'm experiencing right now so I got worried.
Sunshine Dee people on RUclips do have that problem all beginners go through that you just won't be able to notice when other people locs to unravel that happen to mines when I first started growing locs that's just a part of the process but give it a couple of months they will start to hold don't worry
Sunshine Dee Hey beautiful! Stay encouraged, it is completely normal:) Everything will fall into place, just stay the course of your journey 😊. Thanks so much and congratulations on your loc journey 😊.
I used to bleach my hair. I would mix blondest blonde and honey blonde PLUS I would add a booster. I was so naïve. Oh and to top it off I will sit in the sun with the dye on my head to boost the color. Lmaooooooooooo after years of weakening my hair that touched my behind all fell out I used to do 5 of the 5 things you mentioned. I am glad I know better know. I have not used dye in years and it is slowly growing back again. PLEASE MOISTURE YOUR HAIR and PLEASE REALIZE THAT EVERYONE HAS A DIFFERENT TEXTURE OF HAIR; RESPECT YOUR HAIR. Thanks Sistah you are on point.
Next week will be three months I went without a retwist! I'm super proud and you inspired me to leave the styling alone! I'm thinking my last style will be for my bday then I just want to go to for a retwist and that's it.....maybe a two strand twist I hear that style is not as bad as the others
THANK YOU FOR THE INFO 😃 YOU ARE SO CORRECT, BLEACHING IS A CHEMICAL, JUST LIKE A RELAXER AND YES, THIS STUFF WILL KILL YOUR STRANDS!! HEALTHY IS BEST. ALL YOUR INFO IS SO GREAT TO HEAR!! THANK YOU FOR THE INFO. I DID HAVE A QUESTION: I RETWIST EVERY TWO MONTHS, BUT I LEAVE MY RETWIST IN FOR A MONTH. WILL THIS CAUSE THINNING?
Hello, I agree with your comments. I only get mine re twist every 3 or 4 months and I have never bleached because I saw what it did to my friend's hair. thanks for the tips.
I love this video❤️ for my locs i made my own all Natural spray, it contains 100% jojoba oil, all natural vitamin E, water, and a little bit of witch hazel, and i love it❤️ it keeps my hair nice and moisturized❤️
Your locks are beautiful. Thank you for the info, it is very educational. I twisted my partners locks 7 yrs ago and they are relatively healthy. However I'm trying to find her an up do for the summer, and this video was a real help. Good job, thanks.
This video was very helpful because I do dread with yarn and I used to get so much product build up. I was doing the most haha 😂. I’m doing my dreads again tomorrow or starting and I’m definitely following this tip.
I hope you are still in good spirits. I see your instagram is now private and your comments are disabled on the other video. You're a beautiful spirit from what I've seen. I pray you won't let anything crush you. Blessings Queen.
They were great twist. I am hitting two months of having my starter locs and a lot of these things I was aware of but having them as a reminder and some bonus things to think about I really appreciate it. Thanks! ~ Fajr
Thank you for the tips. Appreciate your wisdom and the video is very inspiring. Plus in my heart I feel that you replicate the beauty that brings about love in a mans heart. Peace and love
What type of loc do you have. I really love the size and the thickness of it. Am starting my own locs journey but i need to pick the type of locs i want to achieve
I go in for maintenance every 6 months that way it gives my hair the chance to grow I sweat a lot so every other day I run them under cool water and put hairfood in my hair and wrap them up I do not bleach my hair it caused hair damage in the past so I don't do it now when I dye my hair I just put the colour on my hair I only dye my hair every 2 years so I don't dye regularly I don't tend to put a lot of products in my hair and only put product in when I was them My locs aren't long enough to do any styles yet Thank you for the helpful advice I'm only 7 months in on my loc journey myself I had loc extentions and the plan was to loc my natural hair with the extentions however I discovered that my hair was breaking because of how tight it was getting twisted so I took out the extentions gave my head a break and then started my natual hair loc journey I love that wrap you have in your hair in this vid I'd like something like that for mine I love how it keeps the hair out of your face
I normally retwist my hair once every 6 weeks with gel & use coconut oil or simply water to moisturize. Is this enough to ensure healthy dreads down the line ? I haven't experienced any issues with it.
Thank you for the video I most definitely was guilty of some of these things not moisturizing my hair often enough because of the afraid of build up and excess of styling
I have bleached all my life. I do have to moisturize more. I also use a moisturizing conditioner. I only do it maybe once a year. I am locked for 2 yrs and now I'm going to twice a year.. I agree with everything you said.. it is so dangerous.. thx for the video, I loved it.. Coconut oil is my life saver...
WOW' your locks have gotten so full and thick Love the darker color also. Are these still considered to be semi free forming or are you palm rolling/twisting.
I was listening to what you are saying about what can damage your loc's im a licensed cosmetologist since 94 i also have been wearing locs since 2000. I have never had much breakage until about 2 years ago when i allowed the owner of the salon it was working at to color my locs purple be she did lighten them with lightner mixed with shampoo, which is supposed to be less harsh. The problem came when i told her she hadn't rinsed all the products out of my nape area. We went back and forth on that til i just finish rinsing myself. I then allow her to retwist. Too me she used to many clips. My locs in the back began to break shortly after this experience. I said all that to say we need to respect each other profession, and always use professional verbage. Ie we don't bleach hair we lighten it we don't dye hair it color.. we don't wash hair it shampoo
Thanks for the info Queen‼️ im new to the loc journey. I started August 2020. What kind of oil would u recommend? And do u suggest adding oil to water in a spray bottle? And how often should I get a retwist? I've been going every 4 week. Just looking for some suggestions for my dry locs and the aren't completely loc'd, they were started with two strand twist. I totally enjoy your channel 😊
You’re so helpful. You made me believe in my locs again.. I started losing my way with them after 3 years. Had slight thinning and it made me sick. Found out that it was because I was stressed, was getting them done too often, and I developed a habit of pulling on my locs excessively.. now, my hair has improved.. I stopped pulling and getting them retwisted.. it’s getting thicker and healthier now that I’m more aware of what I do to my locs. I’ve gone 5 months without retwist and I’ve embraced the frizz!
Bleaching trueee. I did that to my locs I dyed my tips and my hair shed until my hair started growing out again. After I realised what it was I treated my hair back in my routine and my tips fell out as my hair grew till all the dyed hair fell out🤷 YOU NOT LYING SIS.
I believe that. Ive been having locs for 14 years and all of a sudden they start getting weak. Then I realized th weakness started happening after I bleached my hair.
Interlocking too frequently will also cause a lot of damage and as Damian Walter says, "Snatch you clean out the game." I try not to interlock any more frequently than every 12 weeks. I separate the roots in between that time as some strands do start to creep into the next braidloc. I am 5 months into my braidloc journey so I interlock as retwisting isn't going to last me due to my texture. I agree with doing self-bleaching if a person has the expertise. Salons do cut corners...The difference in texture from new growth to matured loc is because bleach CAN CHANGE YOUR TEXTURE by loosening it. It eats away at the hair strand, just like how chlorine bleach eats away at fabric if left on too long!
Love your locs .. i have that soft hair that always frizzy and I constantly manipulate them . Starting today, I am going stop all my none-sense. Ps. Such a beautiful Queen . Thanks for the advice
Your locs are beautiful and I agree with the styling thing. I had locs for 20 years this is my second sets which are 4yrs old this May and I never done those styles they seem to always look to tight for my taste.

All dreadlocks are different depending on the type of hair you have. Keep that in mind
Facts. My friend hair loc after the first month. For me it took about 3-4 since my hair is softer.
@@halo3boy1
it’s really interesting how different the body works
When you wash them make sure you squeeze all the water out too because it can rot your hair off cause your dreads to break off easy too.

You’re the best! Thank you, all the way from England.
Bleaching trueee. I did that to my locs I dyed my tips and my hair shed until my hair started growing out again. After I realised what it was I treated my hair back in my routine and my tips fell out as my hair grew till all the dyed hair fell out🤷 YOU NOT LYING SIS.
Btw I did BRIGHT BLUE.
I believe that. Ive been having locs for 14 years and all of a sudden they start getting weak. Then I realized th weakness started happening after I bleached my hair.
She’s speaking truth you are very beautiful👌🏾
BLACK WOMEN WITH DREAD LOCKS ARE GORGEOUS !!! 😍
This video was helpful I have starter locs but don't know anything about locs
So I don't want to bleach my hair but I do want to dye it. Would that be safe or should I just keep my natural color?
I Love Love your eyebrows lol . Thanks for sharing this great information. Just started my locs in March of 2017
Zakayah Israel Thank You! Congratulations on your new journey!😊
Elevated Spirit Having extended periods between retwist/interlocking can also cause damage
Hi! your video is super helpful... just wondering what type of oil do you use on your hair?
I was twirling my hair as you were saying NOT to do that lol it’s like a habit when I’m just chilling
😂
It's very true that bleaching damages ur locs I did it twice and my ends are very weak sum even broke off the texture of the lock even changed
I bleach my hair once a year because it is damaging. Bleached hair needs to be really taken care of.
