- Internationally today Cuban cigar lovers are cheated and manipulated by cigar counterfeiters. Identifying a fake Cuban from original is becoming tougher day by day. We have to educate ourselves in this and avoid scammers trying to sell fake Cohibas. They often come with a fascinating story of backdoor Cuban Factory connection and cousins of a Cuban Torcedores all the time. Sometimes they claim that it is coming from the Cuban authorized channels and they don’t even have shame in mentioning names such as Ambassador and political names. In order to get it authenticated they will go to any extreme and today it is a million dollar business activity. If you buy your cigars from authorized distributors and retailers you will eliminate this challenge completely. Knowing some specific details on cigars would help us in not getting cheated. Specially today as Cuban cigars are hard to find counterfeiters are capitalize the moment.
My video is to give a glimpse on fake cigars out there and a little direct comparison to save our health and wealth.Definitely I am not able to give more details publicly as counterfeiters may advance from the security measures on the authenticity.

The cohibas we used to buy in England and France were wonderful in the 80s. Now excellent blends from South America and various imported wrappers are just fantastic. The difference between a Cuban and a top notch cigar blended from the best tobacco grown in excellent soil by agricultural experts in other countries are exemplary these days -at a fraction of the price.

I am amazed the hologram on the fake is an actual hologram and not just printed. That's what I was looking for but it's the imperfections that give it away. Hard to see from the video when far away but close up yes, you can see the imperfections clearly. Fascinating.

Great video. I personally thought it was easy to spot that fake based on colour alone. There’s no way you will have that much variance of wrapper colour from Cohiba in that box. But excellent walk through of spotting a fake.
I have to say, I’m impressed with myself being a total amateur, I spotted that fake immediately because of the darker rapper. I’m sure it’s coincidence that I was able to tell because I didn’t know any of the other details that you imported to us. But I still had fun. Fun video.

I recently started smoking Cohiba given its steep, I’m now in a better financial position to do so. I only purchase from major, well known cigar shops. This past Tuesday, 02/13/25 I purchased a box of Cohiba Nicaragua from Corona Cigar Co in Orlando, FL. I love this cigar. I cannot get my hands on those made in Habano given that I live in US. 😢. Sad. But one day I will travel to other territories where I will delight myself in real Cubans. Thanks my brother. You’ve always been our good friend. ❤

I have been offered a stick of fakes more than once, they also taste like crap, but as you said if you don’t know what the original is supposed to taste like, it all goes back to trust in the official distributors.

Awesome educating video! Ty! I was looking at a box of Cohiba Habana robusto for $450, that was a red flag. My friend said the seal checked out, the seal number was confirmed as a legit Habana Cohiba, everything looked good, the thin packaging paper curled when placed on the palm. Still fakes are getting so good, why would someone sell a product that sells for $1400 for $450? You have to question that and be cautious. Anyway thank you! Love the white rose! Excellent ! Un grand merci pour cette vidéos. J’ai faillit me faire arnaquer sur un site français et j’ai remarquer à la tête du signe de la marque cohiba qu’ils étaient faux. La tête sur la boîte avait un nez de sorcière les bagues étaient mal collé bref j’ai eu de la chance et j’ai pu me faire rembourser. Encore un grand merci. Comment puis-je faire pour reconnaître les vrais cohiba sans lumière noir etc. Vous êtes le maître des cigares.

I walked into a smoke shop and just wanted to look and see what they had for Cigars
I saw a Cohiba Cigars cheap looking band right away I knew it was fake. I mean they weren't charging too much for it. I just knew it was a 5$ cigar

That fake cigar is in general very well done. If you don't have with you the real thing to make a comparison and you don't know what the clues are you can be fooled very easily. I found wich one was the fake because it is slightly thinner than the other ones, it is a bit darker, and overall because it doesn't have a cap like the others. Concerning the bands, you really have to be an expert to tell. Lots of peoples like me buy fake cigars (and we know they are fake) because we can't afford the price of the real things. When their is a demand, their is an offer. Sad but true.

I will be honest I spotted that fake almost immediately the length, colour of the wrapper the font on the band along with the imperfect wrapper was an instant red flag It was easy because of the beautifully crafted sticks it was sitting next to had it been in a bunch of random sticks It would have needed a closer look
hmmm, I bought 2 Cohibas. They have 3 lines up top on the gold ring as well as the bottom of the top wrapper, the outline of the head is correct, but the ink is thicker where it says Havana Cuba, not a thin font. And has triple cap. But the squares do not have the tiny gap where the squares are above the gold Cohiba. Im confused lol.

not just sale but smoked these days by people, many cohiba buyers are not cohiba smokers, many they age them and probably thinking of making an extra dime, however, what you see when you go outside to smoke is mostly are counterfeited unless you are in a company of elite & knowledgeable smokers....
My buddy bought a box of 9 behikes at la casa del habanos the most reputable store in Cuba missing 1 cigar. When he came back home with them I saw the label was totally off he swore it was real from the official store he had the bill and all. It makes me wonder how could cohiba put defected labels? Or was the guy at the store the official store corrupt? Did he switch them into a real behike box?
I’ve never seen any fakes that could get the golden head centered in the white spot.
Also, never seen a fake with the UV light watermark
