I would def recommend samples packs. If you get cheapo bundles, you’re stuck with 20 of the same thing, and you might not like them. I think the key to starting out is to try a little of everything, which is also why I think going to a brick and mortar cigar shop and asking for suggestions is a great option.
I agree. I've been smoking a couple of years now. We always need to support our local cigar shops and fortunately mine in my area have really good guys that work there and have a lot of expertise. Personally my favorite bundle is an Oliva bundle if I order online.
Boy I wish I had this kind of advice at my fingertips 25+ years ago when I first started out. While I've been smoking periodically for that time, I still find these kinds of videos-for-beginners extremely valuable. In the din of cigar hype from retailers (I could wallpaper a house with the magazine catalogues I get), it's refreshing to hear simple tips that you won't get from retailers. I indeed wished when I started out to just go for sample packs. That is the way to go when you're starting out.

I agree ive been smoking since 2010 but always learn something new. I didnt know much about lotus lighters and this video got me looking into them (i use zippo butane inserts)
Im lucky enough that there is a cigar shop 1/2 mile from my home that also has a nice lounge. That is where i smoke my cigars so I dont need a setup. The best part is that I have met amazing people there
The boveda packs are awesome, any air tight containers can do, i opted for the tall ones, hols about 25 ish with the humidity pack. I suggest watching videos, great resource and ppl like you do well. Sample packs and the bundles are good choices, dont spend crazy money starting out, find what ya like first get your profile and ring gauge dialed in, then start ramping up in the journey. God bless
Excellent recommendations, Jeremy. My golf course cigars are the Churchill size of the Factory Smokes Sun Grown and the Maduro flor de Oliva. Good sticks for inexpensive prices when you purchase from abroad 🤭
Great recommendations here Jer. Great stuff for beginners but also for a vets too. Reposado 96's are my go to bundle stick, 3 wrappers and multiple sizes, always burn great. You can never go wrong with a Perdomo.
I agree on 65%. I find i can taste more flavor notes and burns pefectly. Also boveda flucates a couple po8nts so at worst you are at 62 or 67 so within the 62-70 range
Recently started smoking cigars I’ve tried some monte Cristo and Romeo Julieta Purchased some bravo Connecticut and was really impressed on the low end price wise but all around flavour was really enjoyable
Great advice on the low-coast humidor set-up, I think I’ll do something similar. For buying cigars as a beginner (which I am), I would say sample packs are the way to go. They’re fun and educational.
My fave bundle cigar is El Titan de Bronze short filler Toro bundles. They’re fantastic and rolled great. They smoke quick but are such a tasty and fantastic product. I’m not crazy about sample packs but any packs with Perdomo or JC Newman are the best brands to explore and BEST value per dollar. Side note… buy Ferio Tego too, insane blends and diverse lineup with many vitolas for anything you wanna try.
I got a 35 cigar sample pack of AVE Marie cigars for $110. I thought it was a decent deal on some good cigars. I’m just getting into cigars and my first cigar was an Ave marie I had with some guys from church and I really enjoy it. Now I’m set up. I order the plastic tub and packet as well.
Be sure and get the right size of whatever you choose to store your cigars in. Should ideally be able to fill it up at least 1/2 way but not have to fill it all the way to the top. A nearly empty humidor makes it harder to keep proper humidity, just like a empty freezer has to work harder since there is nothing to keep residual coldness in it when it cycles on and off.
I need this video. First cigar I smoked was a month ago at a whisky tasting. Cohiba Siglo 6. It was so creamy. I’ve been researching ever since, but made no purchases yet. Would you be able to speak to the Correnti brand in a future video?
@@SippersSocialClub😂 yeah, the wallet will have ultimate say, but there are good smokes to be had for like a couple dollars a stick for sure. Can always save up for those special occasions
One thing i would recommend is buy the purest butane you can buy. I see alot of people complaining that their lighters stopped working suddenly, alot of the times its the butane thats messing up the lighter
I went into cigars deep, electric humidor, 2 choice cigar hauls = 175 top brand cigars, came out to about a 875.00$ give or take, but I have been waiting 2 years to do it.
Do you just throw the cigars into the Tupperware so they can freeroam in there with the humidity control pack or do you use one of the cheapo Amazon boxes for storage and put that into the Tupperware
As long as everything is in the Tupperware with a humidity pack you should be fine. Loose cigars are ok, or if you buy a box, keep the whole box in the Tupperware
@@dannymarkgraf34 I use plastic, but I would assume glass would be better because you eliminate any potential plastic smell from cheaper containers. The most important thing is the rubber seal. Cheers :)
JR Cigars has “JR Alternatives” that are designed to mimic a major brand. They have several to choose from. Good, but not great. Certainly a good value. The Coors Light of cigars, if you will.
whats the best place to buy cigars in ontario, canada at a reasonable price? i went to local Havana Castle, they didn't have their sample pack so could not get it. Nice store but very expensive lol. Where can u get My Father or Perdomo sampler pack u mentioned above? Also some of the other stuff u mentioned above like the lighter, storage and other stuffs where can u get them?
I have to be careful not to break RUclips terms of service (they don't like you saying or linking to any place that sells tobacco) I would recommend c i g a r c h i e f (Dotcom) probably the best prices, but everywhere in Ontario is very expensive compared to prices you pay in the US
Don’t buy bundles or sample packs!!! You might not like them and you’ll be stuck with sticks you’re not going to smoke! Buy individual cigars at your local cigar store and take note of the ones you enjoy to repurchase.

Lol, I remember my dad doing that. In theory it would work short term, but the apple will rot and you don't want that around cigars.
