Do you like these kind of videos from me? .. And if you do is it too long or too short for your taste? Or just about right? I'm curious as my daily dose ride videos are not very popular.. so I'm thinking should I stop making them and focus on other videos or change them in some way? What do you think? 😅 My edits are slowly improving after a year of practice but I stiill have a lot to learn 🤗
the brutal honesty is that video lengths depend on content. i watched this one carefully to make sure the T7 doesn't under perform vs KTMs lol, and to see at least one KTM breaking down which didnt happen. Disappointed. On a serious note good stuff.
Great video and great effort! I’ve always liked the Tenere but the weight and high centre of gravity pushed me to the 690 which although tall is more manageable for me. 15 years ago I’d have had one but at 64 realism rules over the heart…. And the 690 is a beast!
3 years ago I traded my 690 for a T7 - those 50 kg extra you really feel when doing tricky offroad stuff. On the other hand the T7 has not let me down yet and it has done almost 50.000 km - The KTM had 4 engine rebuilds and various electrical issues over 20.000 km
You did well considering those crap tires and the extremely top heavy T7. The 690/701 will eat its lunch off-road over the course of a full day. I had a nicely equipped 800 Adventure R which I loved but off-road these 400+ pound bikes take a toll on your body over the course of a day, even more so over the course of a week like when on a BDR. I moved to a KTM 500 and built it into a ultra light weight ADV bike of sorts and I couldn't be happier when off-road. Sure I miss the quick shifter and cruise control when on the road but I just do my best to not ride pavement as much as possible now lol. I'll likely add a GS/GSA to the fold next for a long distance runner than can still get dirty from time to time but the majority of my off-road travel will be on the 500 moving forward.
Sounds fantastic. I've been dreaming about buying a KTM EXC 500 and transforming it to fit all my offroading needs. I'm probably at the very latest gonna do that purchase next season! Ride safe!
Looked like a great trip, incredible views & awesome trails. I ride a 690 as well, and it’s cool to see a perspective from the Tenere. First video I’ve seen on your channel & subscribed after watching. Looking forward to watching more. Best of luck with the channel, cheers! 🤘
Riding with good friends is the best you can do in offroad-biking. I beleave you need proper tyres in this wet conditions to have more grip and "Auswurf", the german term for much mud driven out by the rear tyre. Very nice offroad tracks there in Finnland!
Is it just me as a biased T7 owners, the T7 is performing extremely well compared to the more enduro focused KTM 690. Now that could also be rider experience, you seem very capable and experienced.
I'm a very mediocre rider to be fair. The softer the sand the slower I am compared to the lighter KTM's 😊 Some of that is due to to the crap tires that I have on though. 8000km already done with 50/50 tires they are not what they used to be 😂 This ride was so nice that I'm probably gonna do a comeback when I get some more agressive rubber on the beast 🙂 Thanks for watching!

The Chinese have learned to copy the easy clutch of the Camel ADV. It’s very easy to order. For the forests of Karjalan tasavalta (greetings from St. Petersburg) I use Mitas E10. Good on wet ground, but enough for 10k km.
Neat video. Just helped me decide to give my new T7 a bit more of a chance as on the fence about trading in for 690 or another lighter bike. Which brand exhaust have you fitted as sound is good and seems to crash nicely?
@@PatchedBandit Only parts of Wales: #18 Tetty trail, which is 75% tarmac und mud in between, but nice for a solo ride. And #2 Midwales, all the loops around Aberystwyth. Which is gorgeous, 80% tracks, with everything we Enduro riders love. Gravel, mud, stones, grass, ruts, long and deep puddles, hills, slopes. And boy, the sights you see. It's an amazing country. As green as Ireland, as rough as the Highlands, much nearer from Nürnberg and pretty empty in September. Probably all year round. Maybe it was my best stretch of enduro trails ever. I was so happy with my 105 kg lightish Beta Alp 200. Take your van and your CRF 300. You'll love it. If you need AirBnBs or B&Bs or self-catering, let me know. I spent a whole month there with my wife, mostly hiking. Next year back again! Cheerio, Günter
"A rock in the face every once in awhile." Yeah. You can say that. I once took a baseball size rock to the mouth at 5th hear all out racing down the road in Ocotillo Wells. Luckily my chin bar slowed it down.... a little bit. Almost jnocked me off my bike. Blacked out completely for maybe 30 seconds. I just held the throttle and bars steady and hiped to not die. My vission came back, and I was able to make it to camp.
Great scenery and riding. As a new resident in Finland, what are the rules to riding trails like these? Is there a certain designation for places you can ride, or does Everyman rights cover any trail for motorbikes too?
Mostly forbidden… 😄 lots of enduro tracks are available too though but they are not free. Depending on where you live you should make some rider friends who know some routes. You can also join my discord(s) from my links to make connections 👍👍
Trying to get one to test but I just got info that it’s not gonna happen this season due to some problems with EU regulations 😔 Hope to get to see one early next year.. Thanks! And yes it is fun with the beast too 😄
Please, everyone, listen. Chinese bikes are just normal bikes sold cheaper. NOTHING MORE. Plagism, no reliability... just a waste of money. Always go japanese. I am looking forward to the DRZ 400 from Suzuki
That T7 sounds mean!!!!!! Although the KTM is definitely a better off-road machine.. I'd pick the T7 if I did more on-road, and the KTM if I did more off-road.. Both great bikes though... Such a beautiful country... Looks a bit like Oregon
Great video and solid performance from the Tenere. You did well on the TYRES, E07? What handlebars do you have? They look like they have more height and sweep?
GOOD eye! I have the 'Protaper EVO Adventure bar 63-4026' on the Tenere. It's taller and much more sweep than the almost straight stock bar. Stock bar was making my wrist hurt on longer rides so this was a good option for me. Although now I have to say as I'm only 175cm the bar is maybe a tad too tall so I might still swap it at some point. But I rode this setup for the last 15 000km and it's pretty good. I would imagine with someone 185cm or more this bar would be even nicer.
@@PatchedBandit Thanks. I love the bars when standing but also feel they need more sweep on long rides on road. I also have 20mm risers. Maybe the pro tapers would work for me? I'll check them out.
Maybe without the risers they might work even better than your current setup. To me the stock bar setup on the T7 was amazing while offroading & standing on the pegs. But touring long days on the saddle and sitting a lot of that time they were not so great. I swapped the bars before I rode from Finland To Greece end of last year and the protaper bars were nice for that.
Thanks! It was very slippery.. raining all day and the tires I have are no good. I need to go again next year with some good tires and rip these tracks again 💪 But it was fun anyway 🙂
@PatchedBandit we definitely have mountains it's a blessing and a curse but more of a blessing thanks for taking the time to make your videos they are definitely entertaining to watch for us fellow's that will probably never get to see the rest if the world I just picked up a 690 and I battled between the t700 but for the terrain I'm in the 690 just made more sense at the time but after watching you I question that decision lol
You made a good pick. T7 is a problem in tricky spots especially going about it alone. It does' dictate lot of the time for me to back out of riding some bits as going alone it can get so badly stuck it's a real problem 😂 Group rides are a good place to put it in some trouble but alone not so much. When I ride my CRF300L everything is on 'easy mode' compared and it's a nice feeling when you have the cohones to try some tricky spots alone too. As a 1 bike garage 690 is in a class of it's own. There is nothing out there to even compete with this bike in my opinion.. maybe KOVE 450 or something crazy like that but then again even that has service intervals like a racing bike. BIG guys over 6ft and with a heavy strong build can definitely ride the T7 like I do my CRF. I've seem some people lift the T7 with 1 hand like it's an enduro bike.. that's not me though 😂 It's HEAVY especially when you are gased out from the ride and in some soft sand etc..
@PatchedBandit I agree completely I had the ktm 1090 I'm out a lot alone and I got in to some pretty sketchy situations up in the mountains so I decided to downsize to something more manageable
Still thinking about it :) I put the Tenere in winter storage already but when spring comes I need to think about it again.. In the meantime I'm riding my CRF300L during the winter :)
It's just Dji osmo action 3 and 4. I just renewed my mic setup after making this video so next ones will have better sound. I'm gonna do a motovlog setup video some day soon'ish.
I do have goggles and multiple helmets but usually when I make videos I ride closed visor helmets due to better sound insulation. 1. Better sound for video 2. Nicer when its raining 3. Easier to wipe eyeglasses at stops 4. Easier to wear eyelasses compared to goggles. But yes I agree in this ride the goggles would have been a safer but less practical option.
Definitely the tricky parts would have been easier with the lighter bikes but I managed to hang in there well enough 😅 T7 has a special fun factor when taken to tougher tracks. It always manages to surprise me on what it's willing to do even in my hands and with shoddy tires 😆 It is a great bike for sure!
On road you can keep up no problem, but off-road, is where the 690 Enduro shines as a great adventure bike. My 690 Enduro is almost 60 kg lighter than the Tenere 700, has much better suspension. So with the same riders on both bikes, no you would not be able to keep up with the Tenere 700 off-road.
Clutch slipping increase traction and control over the bike on more technical slow terrain. Especially nice with the crap rear tire I have on this bike 😅
I like watching them from time to time but youtube algorithm doesn't really recommend this kind of videos (pure offroad riding) to many people (unlike adventure riding) and/or there is also a ton of similar content out there...just today I got recommended a video from 2 dutch offroaders that make exotic offroad trips but their videos have very little views, except for 4-5. They are called in2adventure. Our brains cant watch more than a few minutes of dirtroads before there needs to be a cut and something new, not just another single trail etcetc. That's my view. If you enjoy making this kind of stuff, do it, but if there is not much of an audience, it doesn't make too much sense unfortunately. Just dont have any expectations, otherwise you will end up like that bloke Johannes from Norway who just completely quit social media bc he had at least some expectations, went all in on his channel but it never got to where he wanted it so he became disappointed and left in a bit of a drastic manner🥲 edit: I didnt leave any feedback, your editing is great imho, the length is not that important according to the ladies ;)
Yoy are right. It is tough to make videos like this interesting enough for youtube to recommend them to anyone. I like making these kind of videos for sure but I like riding more than editing these so if they don't get views it is not worth the effort. Especially as these kind of videos take a lot of time in the edit as there is SO MUCH material to go through 😂 I enjoy making videos but I also like them to be entertaining and/or informative to the audiences. Just making videos for the sake of making them is not all that fun without the community. Many youtubers quit because they expect the huge effort to result in similarly huge viewcounts but that's almost never the case. I don't really have any huge expectations as I'm very surprised about even the current rate of growth on this channel. There are so many better channels people can be watching 😅 Thanks for the comment and input! 😁

Why "sausage enduro"? :)
Did you watch the whole vid? 😋😅
@@PatchedBandit Yeah, I did. Was just messing with you. We do Shnizel enduro :)
Just dont have any expectations, otherwise you will end up like that bloke Johannes from Norway who just completely quit social media bc he had at least some expectations, went all in on his channel but it never got to where he wanted it so he became disappointed and left in a bit of a drastic manner🥲
edit: I didnt leave any feedback, your editing is great imho, the length is not that important according to the ladies ;)
Yoy are right. It is tough to make videos like this interesting enough for youtube to recommend them to anyone. I like making these kind of videos for sure but I like riding more than editing these so if they don't get views it is not worth the effort.
Especially as these kind of videos take a lot of time in the edit as there is SO MUCH material to go through 😂
I enjoy making videos but I also like them to be entertaining and/or informative to the audiences. Just making videos for the sake of making them is not all that fun without the community.
Many youtubers quit because they expect the huge effort to result in similarly huge viewcounts but that's almost never the case. I don't really have any huge expectations as I'm very surprised about even the current rate of growth on this channel. There are so many better channels people can be watching 😅
Thanks for the comment and input! 😁
well before starting then lets see this same bhp more or less weight more orless ish can you all ride lets find who crap then.......
