I really love the vessels u used Ellen!💖 I make candles but i don't have much propensity on soy wax for my making and use a blend of coconut wax instead and that's generally for stronger scent throw. About the shrinkage you noticed, it happens when the hot wax cooled too fast. What i do to repair it, i poke several holes ( using skewer) around the wick and grab my heat gun to melt the wax to fill in the holes and smoothen the surface. For plant-based candles, it's best to have them cured for 2 weeks for accurate result.
They are gorgeous love the colours of your candle jars ,I do love a candle with a wooden wick they just look a bit more classy.Thank you Ellen for sharing.🥰 xx
Simple and beautiful, love that teal color! 🏝 Morouge is my next wishlist supplier to make a purchase from, I’ll definitely be grabbing a couple of those containers if they still have them. Wishing you all the best for the coming new year. 🎉🥳
Great video! Nice looking candles - I'm partial to wooden wicks. I especially love the wooden tops on those vessels - I need to get some of those! I've been recently experimenting with a blend of soy and olive oil with a wooden wick, and the results have been great so far - I'm shocked by the increased burn life this blend provides, and both the cold and hot throw are excellent!
Those candle vessels are gorgeous. I never made candles and watching your videos I'm getting inspired. Thank you so much for sharing and happy new year! 🎉
Hi Ellen, Happy Holidays! I haven't been online much, but notice this video. I have ordered Morouge Silky Soy wax and other waxes to start making candles as well. I have had customers asking for candles and thought it could be a nice product to add to my line in 2023. I will be doing some candle testing in the next week, once New Year is over. I'm glad to see that this wax turned out real good. I have been following Black Tie Barn as well Standley Handcrafted and he mentioned about shrinkage of the wax. All waxes do shrink, but depending on the type of wax and their composition will depends on the % of shrinkage. Happy New Year fill with laughter, joy and love!
Hi I don’t know if you got the answer to the shrinkage of the wax, but I was told that can happen if the wax was to hot when you pour it in the vessels. Temperature should be less than 145F.
Beautiful and very informative video Ellen!! I make wax melts but my candles have never been great. This video helps my not so self confident side ❤ I’m going to check Morouge Company out. Just a couple questions, would you use this wax again even with the shrinkage? And if so, would you over fill the vessel a bit to compensate the shrinkage? BTW love the color of your nail polish 🥰 Happy New Years to you and your family 🎉
I think it’s so awesome to receive homemade gifts like you candles and soaps! Those are the bests gifts in my opinion.

Those wick trimmings are perfect for re-tapping and to use on tea candles.

Yes, I would use the wax again, the scent throw and burn is really nice. And I would probably over fill just a bit to make up for the shrinkage😉
