One of the most hyped regular season games mainly because Magic Johnson was making his comeback coinciding with the Bulls coming to the Great Western Forum. Pippen steals the show.

I don't ever hear anyone talk about the fact the Bulls the next season in 1996-97 finished with a record of (69-13). And... while resting players with some nagging injuries, the Bulls lost 3 of the their last 4 games including the season finale by 2 points that season. That is how close this team was to back to back 70-win seasons. During the telecast they said it best. Everyone on the Bulls knew their own role and did not deviate from the system of TEAM basketball. A marvelous unselfish team with 3 HOF players, the greatest player of all-time, and a great supporting cast especially the x-factor Tony Kukoc. I still can't believe Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf didn't do whatever it took to bring this team back for another season in 1998-99. What a travesty! You will never see another TEAM like this again.

I will never understand why they didn’t let them defend their title and go on for 2-5 more years . I’m sure Kerr, kukoc, Rodman , pippen , longely, Harper , bill we’re going to come back. I don’t understand the urgency to rebuild the dynasty when you’re current roster was performing so well at an older age. Jerry really destroyed his relationship with Phil which was also unfortunate.

    • @bananaman5668
      @bananaman5668 4 месяца назад

      You mean Jerry Krause right?
Jerry Riensdorf was just the Owner that went along with what his GM wanted to do.
Sure he deserves criticism for not trying harder to keep Krause and Phil together.
But just like Krause deserves credit for building the roster. He also deserves the majority of blame for pushing Phil Jackson out and subsequently denying their chance to attempt a 4peat.

Man was that Bulls team was special, 41-3 after this game at that point, they just absolutely ran roughshod through the NBA that entire season, unbelievable. I remember watching that game on TNT on a friday night, with Magic returning to face MJ,Pip,Worm and the Bulls, it was absolutely electric. Magic paying homage to the Bulls during that interview saying how the Bulls squad reminded him of the 80's Celtics and his Showtime Lakers squad, showing nothing but class and respect man.

During this 72-10 season Jordan and Kerr was the only 2 Bulls player to play in all 82 games Toni Kukoc played in 81, Ron Harper 80, Pippen 77, Rodman 64 and Longley 62. as much as Rodman contributed to this team in only 62 games Jud Buechler, Randy Brown, and Bill Wennington played in more games. I would like to know what this team would have done with a full squad during that 1996 season. Would it have still be 72 wins (which will never be done again) or could it have been 75 wins 77, or quite possibly even 80?

Harper and Kukoc were also both injured in the playoffs and Finals.
Kukoc missed 3 games vs the Knicks because of back injury
and Harper played only 1 minute in Game 3 and 5 of the Finals because of knee injury, and only 13 minutes in Game 4
They weren't healthy in the playoffs and still went 15-3 with key players being injured in all 3 of those losses.

But instead of offering encouragement or support which was what Magic was expecting, Jordan told him that he was fat and slow, that the Lakers weren't a championship contender, and that if he were him, he would seriously consider going back into retirement to avoid embarrassing himself and tarnishing his legacy. Classic MJ, for better or worse.

At 1:06 Jordan does a pump fake and is dunking the ball by the time the guys feet come back to the ground. That is punishing:)

The current Miami Heat wish they had this type of chemistry.

Great resolution. The '96 dark pixels were awesome. Light pixels were just outclassed.

Lakers fan here ..but the 96 Lakers with Magic >van exel....eddie Jones.......weren't playing defense ....they deserve to get beat by one of the best teams ever.........wish this bulls team played the 86,88, 2000 or 2001 Lakers teams.......too many watered down teams that year.....even though rockets were defending champs, they got beat by a supersonic team w/out any center

This Bulls team could beat anyone, period. Greatest team of all time, Warriors, Lakers, Celtics, Spurs, Cavs, Heat, whoever, can't touch this...Maybe the '92 Bulls, lol...

Bulls have always had problems with LA Lakers during that period.I remember I watched Lakers-Bulls game,I think it was 1998,Lakers were very dominant and Bulls had no key for their offensive style.
