You really got to love these guys when they were out there. I can't really say the same for the last 20 years of the NBA, especially today. What a treat this video was. All-star game has always been more relaxed, even during the most defensive era (1st half of 2000s) they'd go above 110 points each team while in a normal game barely went past 90.
I remember watching this all-star game several times (I recorded it on VHS). In my opinion, it was the most dramatic and MAGICAL. The West shot the lights out and defense from both teams was stellar. Tim Hardaway was emerging as one of the best all-around PGs while Drexler was in the prime of his career. It would have been nice to see David Robinson also try out for a slam dunk championship with his athleticism. All-star games just aren't the same today without Magic & Isiah running the offenses for their respective teams.

This was the first all star game I got to watch live on tv as a kid and honestly the time I fell in love with basketball. This kicked off a run of me being excited for the all star game for about 13 straight years. It is still something I have looked forward to even into my 40s. Nowadays I just wait for the highlights on RUclips. But sad to say I didn’t even watch this years, the level of comp is so watered down the past 10 years now and they don’t play defense

Went to this one as a Junior in High School. Stood next to Dr. J on the sidelines while watching MJ warm up. One of my biggest memories ever.

What defense? This game was a 40 point blowout. The West were the only ones playing defense. You oldheads complain about high scoring games nowadays, but the West scored 153 points in this game.
