This was really the peak of NBA. Bird and magic on top, Kareem and the dr still playing well, the young guns coming up in Jordan and Barkley. You will never see this again!
Lebron & Steph still on top, KD & Kahwi still playing well, the young guns like Giannis & Luka coming up. Not mention Ja Morant, Zion Williamson, LaMelo Ball!!! Watch out for Victor Wembanyama
That 1987 all star game had the highest number of HOFs in the history of the game. Probably that was the best all star game ever. It was the best one I’ve ever seen.
For all the young fans out there, you are witnessing the NBA's best era. The style, the names. Don't get me wrong, we have great players now, but the 80's were "must see" NBA..
This is were greatest was, and now with the crap of today's game it stays here! Young people do your homework you'll never see this much talent, skill, heart, passion, HOFers an true All-Stars in one game ever again.
How do you not have the play where Jordan flips it up to Dr J on the break? This was Dr J's last all star game so it was like the passing of the torch play. Tom Chambers was a last minute substitute and he wound up winning MVP with like 32 points or something. (I used to have this on VHS tape and watched it 100 times as a little kid)
Looked like a little showtime with the Lakers with Magic and Worthy! Compare the 80's All Star Games with the one I saw only in the highlights of 2023 and they were standing around. I am glad I did not waste my time watching for the last 20 years. I just noticed that two of these I played with in the gym. Tom Chambers in HS Boulder-Fariview. And Rolando Blackmon came to the gym in CO with a CO native Jari Wills (RIP). They played at Kansas together. Walter Davis also became a friend of mine in Colorado. My daughter met him in 5th grade. He was so tall! LOL.
CONFIDENCE, BABY! CONFIDENNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNCE! Love how Blackman psyched himself up to make those FT's. To think that the greatest NBA All Star Game of all time with Kareem, Magic, Bird, MJ, etc would come down to Rolando Blackman and Tom Chambers. NBA peaked...never would be better than the 1987 season.
Amazing how good the All-Star game was when the players weren't all buddies with each other. They're playing this like it's a playoff game instead of peacocking for Sportscenter asspats.
And I was there and of course saved my ticket stubs......got to meet Worthy and Kareem as they were leaving and walking to the team bus and I guess Kareem scared everyone because I was the only one that walked up to them.......and Larry Bird who was surrounded by 50 kids in the parking lot.....all the STARS were there including retired ones.....Tom Chambers didn't even get highlights here and he scored 34 points and was MVP replacing the injured Ralph Sampson..........lots of the best plays were with Magic,Kareem, and Worthy........never will be an All Star game like that again.
This was the game where Tom Chambers got the All-Star MVP award in his hometown, but really it was Rolando Blackman that was the MVP. Were it not for him, the West would have lost the game altogether. After that, Worthy definitely was the next most important guy to the West team.
The 154 points that this 87 West team scored, is the highest ever, among the All Star MVP winning it, in front of his NBA Team's fans, when it goes to overtime, which Tom Chambers did as a Sonic, in front of the Seattle fans.
The 1987 slam dunk comp the Paint is Blue and for the main game it is now Red! Surely there was no need to redo the court after the dunk comp and three point shootout?
Chambers was the MVP and he only gets one highlight in this clip?! I know, there were too many awesome plays already in this game and he was so vanilla compared to all the Hal of Famers.
Compare and contrast the absolute brilliance, intensity commitment and flair of these players, to the unwatchable garbage the ASG has become these past years.

@user-gu4tv4hp6s soccer? 😄
@@adamdavis7314 Giannis is on top. He's not a young gun coming up.
s😂
@M bro what are you even talking about
This is so much better than today's basketball. This is what the game is missing today.
this was one dream team going up against another!
I agree
That 1987 all star game had the highest number of HOFs in the history of the game. Probably that was the best all star game ever. It was the best one I’ve ever seen.
Foluso Joseph 1990 had more HOFERS actually
2001 with AI, kobe, vince, t-mc, duncan KG, kidd, etc was good too.
Exceso de calidad

Dano C., the new guys only count numbers 😆
If today's players got on a time machine to this era they would get destroyed!
@@joemartin1253 Which ones?
Back when they actually played hard in the NBA All Star Game
The NBA was great back then, you will never see skill level this high again, the NBA WHEN IT WAS GREAT.
WHAT A GAME!
WHAT A PLAYERS!
Best All Star Game ever seen.
This is were greatest was, and now with the crap of today's game it stays here! Young people do your homework you'll never see this much talent, skill, heart, passion, HOFers an true All-Stars in one game ever again.
The absolute glory years of the NBA.
This All Star game had like 16 Hall of Famers in it, the most Hall of Famers in any All Star game.
One Advocate 1990 had more
How do you not have the play where Jordan flips it up to Dr J on the break? This was Dr J's last all star game so it was like the passing of the torch play.

I'm glad I'm old enough to remember the NBA of the 80s
what a move by the express james worthy....one of the fastest 1st step.
So many legends out there Jordan was barely able to get his hands on the ball.
1:35 awesome. Wish there was more highlight vids of Isiah's passing skills.
One of my favorite All Star Games ever
Simply love of the game, we dont have in this era.

I could make an argument the following year was the NBA's peak: www.denverstiffs.com/2008/05/homage-to-best-season-in-nba-history.html
Amazing how good the All-Star game was when the players weren't all buddies with each other. They're playing this like it's a playoff game instead of peacocking for Sportscenter asspats.
Grown man playing honest basketball back then. No carrying the ball, no traveling, no flopping and specially no DIVAs.
Damn....Worthy nasty Tomahawk on Jordan....who said nope.... Nothing I can do. Double Daaaammmnnn.
Great time of the NBA
Dr J's last All Star game
Mj, Dr J and nique playing together...
Malone still got that strength playing underneath...
Thomas defensive knee on blackman
You will never see basketball played like this again.BASKET BALL GREATEST YEARS.
El primer all stars que vi en directo por TV. No lo olvidaré jamás.
I was there! So were the Sonics! (:
Hometown (Sonics) favorite Tom Chambers was named All-Star MVP.
@@@cooper482011Don't know why there was only one highlight of Tom Chambers. The town was crazy that werkend
Fantastic players .the legends
YOU DIDNT SHOW THE LAST FREETHROWS?!?!?!?!?
Greatest ensemble of players ever on the court
I remember Rolando Blackman yelling "FINISH" on the last FT that sent the game into OT. Excellent All-Star game
What a game, just about all these players have better skill than todays modern players...
Isiah Thomas was the best All-Star performer in NBA history.
80's the best!
Back when the NBA was actually fun to watch.
This looked like a playoff game
A time when All Stars protected the rim .You could see blocked shots ,steals .Great era
This was the game where Tom Chambers got the All-Star MVP award in his hometown, but really it was Rolando Blackman that was the MVP. Were it not for him, the West would have lost the game altogether. After that, Worthy definitely was the next most important guy to the West team.
The gameplay is so freakin fast
Worthy's baseline move on Wilkins and then put the ball off glass with his left hand...AWESOME
R.I.P. My Sonics
What a great game. Magic celebrating after getting an assist. Total team player
did moses literally do a euro step on the first highlight?
He would embarrass any center TODAY!
The last authentic All Star Game.
Dave Cowens taught Nique everything he knows.
Best era of basket ball lasted until about 99.

Yeap a hard game with defense & talents all thats what allstars should be like a playoff.
They were actually fouling in an all star game to stop the clock smh
The 1987 slam dunk comp the Paint is Blue and for the main game it is now Red! Surely there was no need to redo the court after the dunk comp and three point shootout?
Tom Chamber, the most underrated all star MVP
When it was real competition but w/ a little showmanship class
You had like 15 Hall of Famers in this All Star game. You don't have 15 Hall of Fame caliber players in today's All Star game
Richard Thaxton there's barely 15 surefire Hall of Famers in the entire league
Before steroids and PEDs. Everyone was lean like someone who runs back an forth for a living should be!
Chambers was the MVP and he only gets one highlight in this clip?! I know, there were too many awesome plays already in this game and he was so vanilla compared to all the Hal of Famers.
IKR?
@@econcrook2062 as someone who has watched this game close to 1000 times, Tommy was not the MVP
Wow it was played like a real game, imagine that
Rick Barry and lil Jon Barry at 5:54
They really hoopin
Hall of famers everywhere
This video makes me happy... With they would have played a 7 game series ::)) hahah... They would have probly killed each other, literally. Haha
Did Moses Malone do a EURO STEP!?? in the first highlight??? wow
@Teddy Hart • Was his move to the basket called a "Euro Step" back in February of 1987?

Compare and contrast the absolute brilliance, intensity commitment and flair of these players, to the unwatchable garbage the ASG has become these past years.
Most of the players are so freaking tall.
The D played in this allstar its better then today playoff D. Thats a fact.
Jordan was a chump during this game.
so was bird. so many great players they can't all have big games
Crazy no Jordan highlights
Blackman should have been the mvp in this game.

This game is familiar. West wins if memory serves????
Yes. West win in this ASG and Tom Chamber was the ASG MVP
