    I know now I was not the right person for my ex narc/addict. His life trauma stunted his growth emotionally hence yrs of self medicating.
    My love , understanding, support could never help.
    I pray for him to find his inner child.
    I believe all that Dr M says. I have been witness for 24 yrs of marriage.
    Now I can only heal my inner child &
    I’m fearless @ 72 to begin anew.
    Therapy has helped me to see our relationship for him was only transactional. He never developed past the narcissistic age as a child.
    My self discovery brings me great peace.
    Listening to Dr M is part of my healing

    Another winner, (except the evolutionary stuff, for me)
    All of these responses are well known to me but less so, the more that I understand them and how I can behave from other places.
    It’s not astonishing that people don’t listen to children, but it’s a travesty.
    I’ve ALWAYS understood that environment is #1 and needs the highest priority in any learning environment.
    Having two narcissistic parents was difficult but my natural curiosity is probably a big part of what saved me, besides my faith; Believing in and relying on our creator has always made me feel safe.
    Being childlike is a treasure and I’m so grateful to have held on to that, and it’s still going strong at 61.
    Thank you again for the pertinent and helpful information, I appreciate it so much.

    The probl is that no parents, nor teachers, no line managers/bosses are interested in putting effort to find out to help the healing. It is always someone else probl!
    Even jails do not want to find out so to help the healing and understanding for an effective rehabilitation. Time in jail should be exclusively to heal via inner work. What they teach instead? And what inmates learn? Only to be worst! It is everywhere, at every level of the culture of modern society, transversely in each country and it touches every wealth class/societal level. WE NEED EVERYONE TO STUDY TRAUMA, SO THAT EVERYONE CAN KNOW THESE THINGS Dr Maté is saying and we will have a TRAUMA INFORMED SOCIETY keener to be more vulnerable, empathetic, respectful and HUMAN. So shut down now we aren't human anymore, so detached, cold and indifferent we are more like robots..I dont want to say animals as they show several time better behaviour than ours..even animals!!

    • @yourinnerchildmatters
      @yourinnerchildmatters  Год назад

      I absolutely understand your feelings of dissatisfaction and you've made some important points here. It's disappointing when we see how often the responsibility for understanding and addressing trauma falls by the wayside in our educational and judicial institutions. You are completely right: it should not be someone else's issue, and we need a more compassionate and trauma-informed society. Dr. Maté's message is important, highlighting the value of empathy, sensitivity, and respect for each person's experiences and problems. It's sad to see how detachment and indifference may influence modern culture. However, your willingness to change and your call to action are encouraging. We can work toward a society that truly appreciates the well-being and progress of every individual by raising awareness and pushing for trauma-informed practices.
      Thank you for sharing your points of view and contributing to this important discussion. We can work together to make our society more caring and kind. 🌟

    A few years ago I watched a documentary about a tribe in southamerica that was formed by runaway boys and girls only. They rejected all adults, elders and authorities and they ended up assaulting small villages to get their food and also took their money. Those villagers were scared of them because they were helpless against them because the police was only protecting the big cities and wouldn't do anything about it and that went on for a few years.
    The documentary didn't cover what happened to them but it's totally the extreme of what Dr. Mate is talking about on what happens when kids only rely on each other, shut their common sense and stop learning from adults to become functional human beings

    • @yourinnerchildmatters
      @yourinnerchildmatters  Год назад +2

      Thank you so much for sharing the story from the documentary and connecting it to Dr. Mate's views about the importance of children learning from adults and gaining functional abilities as they grow. It's distressing to hear about the serious scenarios in which these children found themselves. It's an eye-opener of how important adult supervision and mentorship can be in a child's life. When children have to make decisions for themselves without the help and knowledge of elders, it can have negative consequences. We can only hope that those young people eventually had positive results and were able to find a path to a more secure and productive being.Stories like these highlight the importance of supporting and encouraging our youth's growth, since they are the future of our society. Thank you for sharing this thought-provoking story and highlighting the importance of Dr. Mate's message🙏✨💖

      I'm very sorry to hear that you had such a difficult and traumatic experience at such a young age 😢. It's heartbreaking to hear that you were forced to seek validation and acceptance in such harmful ways. That should never happen to anyone. Please know that you are not alone, and that the actions of others do not decide your worth. You are naturally valued simply the way you are. It's important to remember that seeking approval from others in bad ways does not define your value. You deserve to be loved, cared for, and respected. Consider speaking with a professional counselor or therapist if you haven't previously done so. They can give you with the support and help you need to heal from these past experiences. There is hope for healing, and there are people out there that sincerely care about your well-being including me.
      Thank you for sharing your experience. Your bravery in sharing your experiences is going to help others who are in similar situations understand they are not alone and that there is hope for a better future. I'm sending you a virtual hug and wishing you strength on your journey to self-love and healing.🙏✨💖 take care always

      Thank you for sharing your thoughts! Emotions and even simple experiences may be very effective teachers in our life. They can act as warning indicators and guideposts, helping us in understanding what might be harming to us. You are correct that learning from our experiences, whether positive and negative, is a key aspect of human growth and evolution. I absolutely agree with your statement regarding the necessity of relaxation, particularly in academic settings. Anxiety may undoubtedly make it difficult to concentrate and study efficiently. It's a fine line between learning from our emotions and maintaining a healthy mental state. Finding that balance can be difficult at times, but it is worthwhile working towards. I am so upset that Pastor Tim Fletcher, a Canadian counsellor, believes that trauma children had a narcissistic parent. Then they are so helpless to cope in life and have healthy relationships, they focus on themselves and their unmet needs. They wish to control someone to get what their parents couldn't give them. Thus they become a narcissist themselves; or the needy ''co-narcissist'', in a co-dependent relationship.
    People are now saying there are a handful of different types of narcissism. As this is an intractable personality disorder virtually without hope of healing, should we not be careful about using this term? Or is it accurate? What should the millions of traumatised children-now-chronologically-adults do about this awful life sentence?
