- In this video, I'm going to try to get you as much info as possible on swapping in a Nissan Titan rear axle on your Frontier. There isn't a lot of information out there and I've gotten a lot of questions since saying I was going to do this, so here's all the info!
Watch the video for more of an overview and I'm going to drop as much info as possible below on what's needed, part numbers, and links to everything you need to do this swap.
You've got several options for how to do this rear axle swap. The easiest way would be to find a rear diff out of a Pro-4X or Offroad trim Titan that already has the locker. Then you essentially have to move the spring and shock mounts and get everything wired up and you're set.
If you get an open diff 08-15 Titan rear axle-
The locker I got, I picked up from this website. It fits 04-15 Titan axles and if you sign up for their newsletter, you can get 5% off your order: www.justdiffer...
Here is the driver's side axle shaft you'll need for the 08+ (complete with new bearings and seals already pressed on): amzn.to/3PxPjD5
And here's the passenger's side for 08+: amzn.to/3FXXOUW
If you go with an open diff out of an 04-07 Titan-
Same locker again as it fits these years too: www.justdiffer...
If you can find a set of offset used axle shafts for an 04-07, you'll need to replace bearings and seals. These are SET10. Here are the part numbers and links to them:
Spicer 565903 Axle Bearing: amzn.to/3Ptkcc5
Spicer 36797 Bearing Retainer: amzn.to/3W4JI9O
Spicer 52765 Axle Shaft Seal: amzn.to/3FviRwB
If you don't want to mess with the full e-locker conversion (04-07 or 08-15 open diff Titan axles) and want to save a few bucks but improve your open Titan diff, you can do a Yukon mechanical locker which will automatically lock the rear end when it detects slip (this one should fit 04-15 Titan rear ends): amzn.to/3UXuXnT
For either the mechanical locker or the e-locker, you'll need a rear differential rebuild kit. This Yukon kit works for all and is the cheapest I've found, plus it's on Amazon so if you need to return it, it's super easy: amzn.to/3UXvbvf
