As a mopar guy... I have to concede that GM's engineers are astrophysicists. Their aluminum engines are so light, they make a 2JZ feel fat. They're making the same power too while sounding like hell.
The difference in the sound is the firing not so much cams. You can have a big block and an LS have the exact same cam profile and they'll sound completely different
Big block is the ultimate but its not for the broke you can build an LS brock and the IBeam stock rod will hold 1000hp if you remember to do the bearings
I love a good european v8 (Porsche, BMW , Lamborghini, etc etc) but however america has some real mean sounding ones i can allways respect a amaerican V8. And even V12 (Paccard merlin)
I really like your videos, but if you could just throw in some video clips of your descriptions, like the cammed big block, it would be that much more enjoyable!
LS swaps are expensive nobody likes to admit this if I spend over 12 grand on a LS swap you better believe Im gonna race that car thats too much money too much power to just be crusing around Im stickin with either small block or big block no sensors or complicated electronic shit to deal with just my opinion
I personally would not want to go bigger than 460 but at the same time at that point you may as well go diesel for similar weight and like twice the torque.

Yeah the only reason I never got a big block I'd strictly because of the weight...like u said.....now that being said if money where not relevant the I work gladly get a bb.
Personally the 8.1 is my favorite. Underappreciated and is nearly indestructible. Block off that pcv in the manifold with a stud or something and then turbo that big bitch. 800+whp ~1000wtq on a stock motor. Takes it all day too no complaints. Absolutely devours transmissions though.
Chevy 5.3L was definitely a game changer, I’m a pretty hardcore Chevy guy but I gotta admit the 5.0 has everything beat. Ford came out swinging like mike Tyson on meth. They would definitely be swapped more if they’re weren’t a gigantic monstrosity of a motor
They are a large motor, but they still fit well in a small Foxbody mustang, so I don't think the size is what is holding it back. The big issue is the availability. The Coyote can only be found in the F-150 or Mustang, and this only since 2011. Then there is the fact that Ford really pushed the 3.5 Ecoboost very hard for the F-150 and limited production of the 5.0. This all means that there is not a huge supply of Coyote engines for people to play around with. The LS on the otherhand was in the G8, GTO, Camaro, Firebird, SS, CTS-V, Tahoe, Suburban, Sierra, Silverado, and the list goes on and on. The DOHC setup on the Coyote also makes people leary of messing with it as it's seen as too difficult to work on. I'm in the process of rebuilding a coyote out of my 2012 GT and honestly it's not bad to work on. I was able to pull it out without removing the fan, radiator, or factory shorty headers.
I like them all, nothing runs like a Honda in 4cyl world. Honda is the king of 4 cylinder engines, and when boosted they make stupid power and take the abuse with very little mods. A K20/K24's have made 770HP on a stock engine with a single turbo kit mounted to them.
