    Does the song need to be in the Song Select format? Will midi changes work if I upload my own chord charts as pdf files?

    • @onsongapp
      @onsongapp  13 дней назад

      You can use the same syntax with PDF files as well, although it's limited to when you view the song only. This is a pretty old video, but you could also assign MIDI as an action to be sent when you tap on a sticky note on the song as well and some people make the sticky notes invisible to mimic tapping on sections on PDF files.

    You have to buy add ons to make the midi work... I tried so hard to make it work but it wasnt explained that you had to actually buy the midi ad on... duh

    trying to see if OnSong can get start and lock with Midi Time Clock coming from another app on a different iDevice. so far no luck. maybe it's because IDAM talks from iOS to OSX and not iOS to iOS? also tried the linking a Midi File but see no way to delete it now. JUST FIGURED OUT I can forward incoming sync from another app thru OSX sequencer back to OnSong! play and stop working! great now I can tie timeline to it - all automatic, no pedal stomping! : )

    This is great for musical applications, but could you please show how OnSong's MIDI capabilities can control lights? Especially interested in OnSong syncing with backing tracks.

    • @onsongapp
      @onsongapp  7 лет назад

      You can send MIDI to different lighting consoles which can be used to control lights, or you can control DMX stage lighting directly through an ArtNet interface. You can learn more about scenes here - onsongapp.com/videos/scenes and about OnSong's DMX capabilities here - onsongapp.com/videos/dmx

    When I connect OnSong via Bluetooth midi and go to program select I get only 127 options, my keyboard has hundreds of patches. The list I’m offered doesn’t include the patches I want to choose. How do I change that?

    • @onsongapp
      @onsongapp  3 года назад

      MIDI only has the ability to send Program Changes from 0 through 127. This is limited by the MIDI specification. Usually keyboards will get around this combination using banks where each bank has 128 programs each. Through both MSB and LSB bank selects, you can access 128x128x128 patches on instruments (about 2 million options). You would need to learn how your specific keyboard can change patches via MIDI and then use OnSong to send that MIDI to your keyboard.

    Just learned about your great app…!
    I'm setting up an acoustic show with backup tracks, really basic lighting and would like to automate as much as possible with MIDI.
    Is OnSong able to control a TC Helicon VoicelIve, the lighting [Chauvet Core 3x1] wirelessly via a wireless receiver and transmitter?
    I need to change sounds on the VoiceLive 3, the color of the light fixture in sync with the backing tracks. Use an Airturn to trigger next song and advance lyrics.
    If all of this could be done with OnSong and a iPad I will be in Cloud 9 forever….
    Please let me know ASAP
    thanks a lot,
    Charles

      You could set up OnSong to send MIDI commands when the song loads or when you tap on, or scroll into sections in your song. You will want to set up the AirTurn to scroll by section, and then tap and hold on the section of your song to send MIDI.
      Of course you would need to connect your VoiceLive to the iPad and also need to run some lighting control software to listen for MIDI and change to the next point in your light show. I'd recommend setting up a Macbook to be a MIDI Network Session host and run the lighting control software on that laptop with a USB to DMX adapter. You can then plug the VoiceLive into that machine as well via a simple USB to MIDI interface.
      Hope that helps!

    My keyboard player has Onsong and an iRig. He was told he needed to utilize the Unreal Book app to do patch changes, but from what I can tell watching your video is that he can just do it through Onsong without the need of another app. Am I right?

    • @onsongapp
      @onsongapp  7 лет назад

      Correct. OnSong is a powerful MIDI controller as well. You can link MIDI to songs, sections of songs, sticky notes and other triggers to control all of your hardware.

    I'm using Onsong and TC Helicon VL3 extreme. The mp3 tracks are loaded into the VL3, how can I trigger the track to start?

    • @terrytarpening5828
      @terrytarpening5828 5 лет назад

      You can assign a button to make the backing track start. My issue is how to get the button press to start the autoscroll in OnSong so I don’t have to perform two separate actions

    Hey everyone and @OnSong App, I just posted a tutorial on how to send MIDI program changes to a Nord Stage 3 keyboard for those that are interested in that sort of thing: ruclips.net/video/Ydto6HcME74/видео.html

    If i use only PDF files can i still send midi data as soon i open up a song?

    • @onsongapp
      @onsongapp  8 лет назад

      +TVDL Music Yes. However, you will need to do this through the song editor. Tap on the pencil icon in the menubar to open the song editor. Next, tap on the "i" icon to open the metadata editor. At the bottom you will find a "MIDI" section. Tap on "Send" and then add MIDI events to the list. When you close the metadata editor menu, the MIDI tag will be written. You can then tap "Done" to save that MIDI to the song.

      +onsongapp Thank you very much for your quick responds! Does this also work with midi string text to send midi messages or only with LSB and Bank MSB select?

    Is it possible to link onsong with keyboard registration?

    • @onsongapp
      @onsongapp  6 лет назад

      Can you give more details of what you mean by registration? Generally you can use OnSong to send out program changes and control changes for multiple MIDI device when the song is changed or a section is selected so you can do some pretty cool stuff as long as you keyboard supports it of course!

    • @bbblue11
      @bbblue11 6 лет назад

      Yes, when I swipe to a song on onsong, is it possible to (through Midi) access a memory bank on the keyboard with the corresponding sounds for that song? Example video at minute 10:33 ruclips.net/video/ZidTZkjLDfs/видео.html

    • @onsongapp
      @onsongapp  6 лет назад

      Yep. You could just assign a program change in OnSong per this video tutorial so when you swipe to the next song, the program change is sent to the keyboard and the patch changes.

    If i want to change guitar preset when backingtrack reaches bridge?

    • @onsongapp
      @onsongapp  6 лет назад

      You'll want to watch the Sending and Receiving MIDI video that cover linking MIDI to a section so when it is selected, the MIDI is set: onsongapp.com/videos/midi-io

    • @onsongapp
      @onsongapp  6 лет назад +1

      You will want to combine setting MIDI with a section or by adding it directly into a timeline: onsongapp.com/videos/timeline

      OnSong App thanx for great support, another question:
      If im using an ipad for onsong, and want to have another ipad with f.ex biasfx. Can they connect with each other so that onsong can send guitarsettings to the other ipad via bt?

    • @onsongapp
      @onsongapp  6 лет назад

      Well aside from the fact that you could run both on the same iPad... Yes, you can send MIDI (either virtual between apps on the same iPad), or via Bluetooth MIDI to another iPad. Take a look at this video tutorial: onsongapp.com/videos/midi-virtual

    Background music really distracting and doesn’t add anything to content. So annoying!!
