I bet Honda is coming up soon with something even better, they have only done a few improvements on the EU7000is in the last 5-6 years. The competition is getting stiff but no one has gone 100% to the Honda level. One thing that none has and Honda does: reliability.

They also start no problem in -30. We tried everything at my old company to save money. Not every 3000 watt generator is a “3000 watt” generator. We used them daily and no issues in the 5 years we had the Honda

I have to agree. I have one and it started my 2.5Ton AC without a softstarter with no issues. I installed one anyway and there is barely a hiccup when it kicks on. I use it with the "Generlink" connector to the house. I tried a buddy's standard 8000W generator and my LEDs had a flicker to them and my Battery backup UPS for my office (computers/router etc) kept beeping if the AC kicked on, or the stove element kicked on. The Honda had none of these issues. And the Honda can run in my driveway or backyard and I can't hear it with the windows closed (A/C running). Hardest part with the Honda is getting one as they are hard to find in my area (Ontario Canada).

Nice demo. I wish all generators were that quiet. I've got to invest in one of those soft starts for my RV. It would be nice to run one of my A/Cs with my little generator. But, prices are going higher and my income isn't. I'll have to add it to my Christmas wish list for now.

I just sold my Honda EU6500is and got absolutely top dollar for it. Their reputation carries them a long way. Plus I do think they are a bit underrated as far as electrical capacity goes. However, the modern Chinese tri fuel units made by Dinking Corporation are also incredibly well made; the only issue is parts and warranty service. But to run my home on natural gas, I took the chance (and ended up putting $1000 back in my pocket). However, I now have to keep my fingers crossed just a little.....

    Thanks for posting Gavin, 👍🏻👊🏻👏🏻
You might see my comments on others that create videos on the same generator. I personally have the same generator. Just an older model. Mine doesn’t have the blue tooth capability nor the CO minder. Mine runs full rail all the time with the eco throttle off. I don’t need the CO minder because mine is permanently outside my house in it’s own “house” if you will.
I had an electrician install an interlock in my circuit breaker panel like your set up. Instead of an inlet on the side of your house? I have my inlet inside the generator house. That way no one can tamper with the generator or the cord. Mine is grounded to a ground grid. Something you might consider if you plan on leaving your generator on for long periods of time. (There is a ground lug on the frame below the control panel on the right hand side). Generators can create static electricity & if let to run for extended periods of time could shock whoever touches the metal part of the generator. Hence the ground lug. Consult an electrician about grounding your chassis.
I’m a firm believer that the Honda EU 7000 is is THE BEST generator on the market! Lots of folks like to compare their generators to the Honda but Honda continues to be the innovator. I currently have a hard start capacitor that I had installed for my older Trane 2-1/2 ton condenser. I have heard great things about the soft start. Next time my A/C mechanic is at my house I’ll have them swap that out.

You know Honda is the best when you hear competitors say theirs is just as good or better than the Honda. Seems Honda is the bench mark. If Honda is too expensive then simply don’t buy one.. but you must admit the quality is there. For those that probably won’t regularly use a generator, a less expensive brand is a wise choice.

Surprisingly, My Honda 7000 can handle one of my two ac units at a time... There is a surge when it kicks on but then settles down and runs... When our power is out we run the downstairs AC during the day, and the upstairs AC during the night... This is without a soft start on either unit... I don't understand how or why it works but I'm thankful it does...
    Obviously your mileage may vary...

I'm glad you redid this video. Still not sure if I should try my EU7000is with my 4-ton with EasyStart 368. The bluetooth app shows my startup as 55A with the easy start, but running is about 14A. This means the Honda would have to surge to about 11kw to meet the inrush.

    • @GeneratorReviews

@@GeneratorReviews Well, I hooked up the generator today and tried to start the 4-ton HVAC with the EasyStart and it didn't work. The EasyStart errored out. I was using gasoline with eco mode off and all breakers off except the air handler and the condensing unit. I set the fan to on instead of auto and it was drawing about 300W per leg. Then I set the thermostat lower and the AC tried to kick in but only the fan on the condensing unit ran. The compressor wouldn't run. I tried it twice with the same effect. After unhooking the generator and putting utility power back, the HVAC worked fine, with last startup on the EasyStart app showing 50A. Just too much for the Honda.

This video shows you just how good the Genmax 6000 is to be honest. Fraction of the price, 240V output, and running watts of 5250 which is just shy of this Honda. The Genmax also weights a lot less and just as silent. The only bad part is probably the reliability, if it breaks I’ll just buy another one because it’s cheap. Oh, the Genmax 6000 is also dual fuel.

Is your AC a 2-stage compressor? That makes a big difference. My 4-ton Goodman is 2 stage. It pulls 10.1/12.8 amp for 1st and 2nd stage but the inrush current is normally 122 amps measured with a clamp-on meter. But adding a hard start kit reduced the inrush to 63 amps. At that level my generator which can produce 6850 watts on Nat.Gas could start the AC compressor if the inside fan was already running and nothing else was on in the house.

I am looking for someone on youtube observing the energy that comes from this Honda with an oscilloscope to see just how nice the output waveform really is. I tried calling Honda early yesterday to ask about the Honda EM6500SX, and their help line employees do not have a clue if it is a modified sine wave or a pure sine wave output. Honda does not prominently display the type of output on their boxes or in their literature (modified sine wave or pure sine wave). I do not know why they keep it a secret.
