Great review. Not everyone can afford a 2nd hand Honda, let alone a new one. So good to have cheap options out there for those that wont use it alot.

Good job. I've got the Houghton Belaire HB3400 in my van which looks similar to what you have? If so the Kings 2.0 kVa will run this? Pretty much want a Generator that can run the AC, coffee machine in the morning and the out door TV when required. Plan is to only run the AC in the PM before bed if it's a warm one. Won't get used much at all hence why I'm looking at the Kinsg. Fridge runs on gas so that's a bonus. Cheers

Kings make a 2.2kw which should run your aircon...don't think it will run both coffee machine and aircon..but you would have to check out its electrical specification to know for sure.....

Not 32A from the generator, it’s 32A DC from the battery charger. It’s about 7A AC from the generator which is why the 10A rated cable has not melted and caught fire. Nice review and comparison.

Felt bad for you because you were the only one Muddy didn't reply to, so let me do it on his behalf. Yes you're correct, must have been an oversight. Cheers and thanks for the content Muddy

Correct...you can rely on Maths....Power (W) = Voltage (V) x Amps (I)...therefore a 1700-watt continuous run generator at 240 volts is only going to result in a draw of 7 amps....not 32 amps 🙂 I have the same generator and have restricted the generator input to my inverter to 7.0 amps to prevent any overloads.

The kings 2.2kva generator doesn't not run my caravan Houghton Belaire H3200 air conditioner without the generator going into overload with no other load from appliances or DC charger on.

    Good review mate- thanks ☺️
I would love to know if you have tested the actual run time you get on each with the fuel capacity they have ?
Or how much fuel per hour on full load/ charge ?
    Be interesting to know

@@muddyandsandy looking at just going straight for the gentrax 800, only to run the kickass 22 amp charger in case of little sun for solar on trips, is cheap and plastic but also small and seems ok from the reviews 👍

When there is insufficient sunlight, it is good practice (and to keep the peace) to only run your generator during the day to max your batteries ready for nighttime use.

For $2k it not that much better than the kings in my opinion, esp for a part time camper. Diff if you were on the road for 2 years doing the big lap. It def the quietest.

Although you can’t rely on Honda like you used to, that may not be the worst news. Honda engines have been made in China for a number of years but engineering was handled in Japan. That is changed. The worst news may be that

@@Cl4rkyBetter off with a clean looking second hand honda for $1k…sometimes less if you’re quick. I’ve thrashed and poorly serviced mine for 20+ years, still going strong. Lives in the work truck and starts first time everytime. Never let me down, never stopped. Officially beats cheap Chinese garbage that will be stacked up at the tip with the others in 5 years.

some of their manuals said they were printed in Thailand so i assume they might also be making them there. i saw some Honda pumps made in Thailand. I don't think that's any better, but really i think it matters more who the company is rather than where the factory is.
My 2000 Hilux was made in Thailand and still hasn't had stupid things break such as a sun visor like my Japanese made 2008 WRX did.
