Researching generators and came across this video and loved it . Not full of techo jargon but a couple of pissed blokes giving real world opinion . Sensational.
Hello from Texas! Loved the video. I guess it boils down to a Honda and a six pack of beer or a Kings gen and several cases of beer. I leaning towards beer.
I just picked up a kings 2.2 for $370 with a cover thrown in on special with 4x4 supercenter. I have a Jayco Journey outback 6.65 and it runs the aircon no problem. They are cheaper than the Honda but you do get a 2 year warranty with them and it also depends how often your going to use it because for the price I payed I can buy 5 Kings vs 1 Honda.
Agreed mate, you have to justify your spending sometimes. It was ridiculous hot that day that’s why the kings worked so hard. I am certainly happy with it. Enjoy your camping and drive safe
$370!!! It’s got to be hard to beat that, if u run it for a few minutes 3-4 times a year & put fresh fuel in, it should be good. Ive had one for 2 years now, no problems.
@@aussiegruber86 Hi, I am still running this generator and it has not missed a beat. I suppose the way I look at it is even if the warranty is a gimmick and the generator fails I can buy another and still have money for 3 more in my pocket.
We agree mate with the fuel tanks. I played around with the eco switch in the first hour and made no difference…..maybe as it was so hot. I forgot to try it out again…too many beers.
I've got a kings 3.5kva. Pig on fuel but it is reliable. When I first bought it I set the valve clearance and serviced it and yes I screamed it's guts out. After a bit of tuning it runs much better and not sitting on the redline at the thought of powering an LED
We might need to do the same mate, I agree with the kings we’ve had no issues with it so far, just might need to tinker with it - thanks for the tip Thunder!🍻
I just bought the Kings 3kw as a backup. I haven't tried it yet, but the low price of them is attractive. I just hear more of the long term reliability issues of the cheap generators. Especially the inverters failing in them.
@@goldyandrobbo6540Honestly Generac portable gens are actually not that good...I was mistaken.. They also use clone Chinese engines and they have complaints....
Don't ever set a air con to under 21, once the air gets to 20 the air freezes on the evaporator coil and will eventually freeze and stop air flow, the amount of times we got called to fix an air con the next day and the ice had melted and it was working! so we serviced, checked and cleaned the thing for the same cost of a call out, then educated the customer.
Generally if you have an A/C that freezes the condenser it means that you are low on refrigerant gas. This comes from living in the desert for the past 30 years.
@@benreid7567 Not if the ice forms due to the air being drawn down below 20c ... have your opinion, and yeah, that's a fridge/freezer issue, not an air con issue ... worked as a fridgy's off-sider till I retired.
@@MuhammadRiz-b3z yeah I think that’s a good idea. But we wanted to test the generators and what they can do? We used the exact same van but hooked up a different generator to what would last the longest.
Yeah you’ll have to weigh up what’s best for the budget, forgot to put the prices in but 2k for the Honda and $400 or so for the Kings. The Honda is great but you could literally buy 5 Kings generators for that price🤙🏼
Thanks for watching. I don’t think it was ever about fuel capacity, it was full tank of fuel in each generator and see what lasts the longest……..and drinking beer 🍺
The kings 2.2kva generator doesn't not run my caravan Houghton Belaire H3200 air conditioner without the generator going into overload with no other load from appliances or DC charger on.
Very interesting test you guys. It would be interesting to do it again with say 2litres fuel in each, and the eco on, and do it on a bit milder day. I’d like to find out what the specs say the decibel level is of both. Thanks for sharing 👍🏼
Good go guy’s, but not real fair or scientific results as their are many potential variables here, Im not knocking ya’s & its still a reasonable test, but probably should have used a measured amount of fuel in each genny, say 1 or 2ltrs, and run a consistent load like a heater maybe, air conditioners could give inconsistent results in those conditions for a number of reasons, shading, wind, ground heat, etc. I dont believe u had the Kings on eco & that’s why it didn’t cycle like the honda did when van reached set temp. I have a 2kw & a 3kw Kings gennys & they both perform reasonably well so far, there can be no disputing that Honda is a superior motor if not genset, but I can buy 4-5 Kings gennys for one Honda, so there is that. The Honda will outlive the Kings for sure, but many people do buy a good Honda, use it a few times & then it sits in the garage most of its life catching dust, & this is where I absolutely dread to say, some of this Triple C gear (Cheap Chinese Crap!) does have a place. Good vid guy’s, look like ur havin fun & that is the main thing. Cheers
Thanks for the input we hope you enjoyed. I agree I don’t think I had the eco switch on. We didn’t put much thought into it other than fill both tanks up and give it a whirl. It was good fun though
Great vid... Who cares if the Kings was screaming its head off, it did the job and it's a forgotten thing when you're sleeping in the cool provided by the air con. How do you get drunk on that XXXX lolly water crap 😂😂

Ha ha thanks for watching Shelley. Beer is the winner here
My kings 2kva has been fine, keep the oil changed regularly and i put some fuel doctor in regularly as well.
Good to hear Garry. I’m still trying to convince Goldy my king’s generator is good enough. I’m happy with it too
Only thing im curious about is whether the Honda is a lot quieter, or about the same when on eco mode
@garrynorth6199 I don’t think there is much difference in the noise Garry
@@goldyandrobbo6540
Well thats interesting, the only reason I’d change to a honda is if it was a lot quieter. Cheers 👍🏽

The warranty is a gimmick, ask me how I know. When you buy kings you cant rely on warranty

@aussiegruber86 that’s crap mate if they don’t honour a warranty
What's the fuel tanks sizes on both
Hey mate thanks for watching. The kings is a 4.1 litre tank and Honda has a 3.6 litre. Hope that helps
The kings has a eco mode? Not sure about the honda. We need to know the tank size to compare properly.
We agree mate with the fuel tanks. I played around with the eco switch in the first hour and made no difference…..maybe as it was so hot. I forgot to try it out again…too many beers.

Yeah it’s a tough one to weigh up. Hope it works out? Keep us in the loop
Was the Kings in eco mode? Saw that can reduce engine speed on low load
You know……..I’m pretty sure it was on……..but then we drank lots of beer 🤔🤔
I wonder if you mod the Kings gen wiht a Honda's carby ect and I wonder if it will make a difference at all. After all good video mate.

Hey mate, I reckon they were both 10 metres in length

Hey mate, they are both 15 feet. And the air con is a dometic
15ft

Does running its fan on full help prevent this? Sounds really humid.

Whats you aricon watt usage per hour ?
Ummmmm….good question? Sorry I’m not sure. It’s the new dometic aircons though
Well wattage per hour can cause so much consumption...if you could make another video by swapping generator next day to different caravan ...
