I just started watching videos on air rifles. I’m 61 now and back when I had an old Benjamin break barrel springer .177, there was no such thing as the internet or videos of any kind. Everything was word of mouth as far as information went. And air gunning wasn’t all that popular except with kids back then. I really enjoy your videos and just subscribed. I’ve had a few pistols, revolvers and rifles through the years and wasn’t all that interested in air guns since I was a kid. But in my 50’s, a friend of mine got a nice .22 pellet rifle with a decent scope and we shot it in his backyard. I was hooked! Didn’t know what I was missing! Going to the range with firearms is kind of a pain and pretty expensive, so I rarely go anymore. But with an air rifle you can shoot it at home for really cheap. So I just ordered a Gamo 10x Fusion 3i and it was supposed to be delivered today but I guess I’ll have to wait til Monday. Bummer.
What I like about your videos is that you’re a woman. I’ve found through the years that women are better students than men and more honest. My girlfriend had never shot a gun in her life but wanted to learn. So I ran her through the safety rules and range etiquette while she practiced dry-firing drills with my Beretta 92F in our living room. She got it down quickly. Muzzle always down range and trigger discipline. Her first time at the range, she did very well. After the shock of her first shots wore off, she really focused and relaxed. Very impressive groups at 10 yards for her first time. She was a natural. Her second time at the range, she was determined to beat my score. The first round, I let her win and she was pissed! “You’re not even trying!” She yelled. Okay, so I tried harder and I’ll be damned if she wasn’t right there with me. Because now she’s really focused on beating me and she actually kinda did. More of her shots were in the 10 ring than mine but I was shooting faster. Still, she was just naturally patient and accurate.
So, you kinda remind me of her in that you’re really focused and a damn good shot. Lots of women are better than men when it comes to marksmanship with very little training or practice. You’re a pro in air guns and I’m just now getting back into it. I really appreciate a woman’s perspective and I’ve already learned a lot in just a few of your videos. Mahalo and aloha from Washington. 🤙🏼

Well, I got my fusion and set up a range at work. Long shipping docks with endless dunnage as a back drop. All my co-workers are men and most have never seen an air rifle before, and none have shot a firearm before. Except one. He was a paratrooper in the army. So I set up the target at 25 yards and zeroed the scope while he called the shots on paper. (He’s done this before) Now with the scope dialed in, time for the cans and water bottles. We’re taking turns and nailing everything we shoot at. All these other macho dock workers just watched. Some even seemed scared. I thought, “Where the hell did you grow up? In a flower garden? Relax.” So I asked the flower boys with grease on their faces if they wanted to take a turn? Most shook their heads no but one brave soul stepped up. See, here’s the deal with most men. Especially of this variety. They think shooting is a man’s domain and so they should automatically be able to do it. Wrong.
Men don’t follow instructions very well and make fools of themselves. They’re used to that. So the one volunteer couldn’t see anything through the scope since his eye was too close. “It’s not a telescope or binoculars, you need to back away a couple inches until you got the whole picture. And get your finger off the trigger. You don’t touch the trigger until your target is in the crosshairs. Understand?”
He nodded impatiently, his manhood challenged, and I so wished I had a girl here to show them how it’s done.
Love your channel, I’m betting on you beating the guy on the other channel who’s practicing right now for it. Don’t hurt him too bad. He’s worried he’ll lose to a woman. He’s a great guy and I love his channel as well. You know who I’m talking about. Have fun. 🤙🏼

Very useful and nice presentation and review.
I have no experience with these modern break magazines. Interesting, but I think it is important that it does not lead to scratches/damage to the pellets. It will affect the precision.
Have long experience with the traditional 1250 Hunter with spring, and it is demanding.
Angie: please keep in mind that 14-15 grain pellets are somewhat light for these rifles. Even with the JSB, the light weight will mean you get a few very good hits, while others hit poorly. The typical spread ..
Recommend going up to pellets in around 20-22 grain.
It will stabilize pressure and speed, and will provide more stable assemblies.
    Sincerely

There are a lot of factors around this choice.. depends on how you like to seat your pellets, whether you want a big hump on top of your barrel or not, and many other factors that you can list out yourself depending on how you like to shoot, and how much experience you have with break barrels..

Have you installed JC’s from AGD trigger screw in the Bone Collector? Your groups will tighten up even more. I have installed one in my Bone Collector and the trigger is a lot nicer and my groups have tightened up. I will take it out to 25 and 50 yards to test. I’m shooting the JSB 15.89 grain Diabolo. I can’t do it this weekend as I will be running and shooting my ASA Sanctioned 100 yard Benchrest Competition at FSA this Saturday and then driving to Tyler’s course at NOA and shooting field target there. Maybe the following weekend. I’ll let you know how it does Angie.

  • @davidprocter3578
    @davidprocter3578 7 месяцев назад

Having never shot either of these two guns I am not really in a position to comment, but as a general rule I find heavier pellets work best in magnum springers, a minimum of 18 grains but I would suggest 24 grains plus will help tame that recoil then it is just finding one that suits the gun. As I am sure you know shooting heavy recoiling airguns on a rest like that causes the energy to flip the muzzle end of the barrel, it is a heavy gun so I get it, at my age not sure I could hold those beasts up for shooting off hand or use the artillery hold long enough to get on aim. In the dim and distant recesses of my memory sure I remember someone selling a shooting rest that helped with recoil, sorry dont remember what it was called or who produced it maybe some kind soul will remind me. Of course tuning nearly always helps.

If I was limited to shooting at 40 yards or less, I would choose the 16-17fpe every time in a break barrel. There is no need for more hold sensitive fpe on game inside that range.

I have 3 gamo. A gamo mag swarm Gen 2, silent cat, and wild cat. They are a waste of money. Plastic triggers, plastic breech, plastic locking detent, and plastic safety lever on top of being more expensive than many other break barrels that use steel for all parts mentioned before. My Crosman f4 for example is 13 years old now and still going strong. Never needed a repair, and was only $99. I do not see these plastic gamos lasting near this long.

Hey there. Personally I would go for the Gen 3i Bone Collector. It has more power then the Maxxim class but is easier to cock than the Magnum Line. It get's you most of the way to the 30 FPE that the Magnum produces, but in an easier to manage and shoot form factor.
      Hope that helps.

LOL. I have the Extreme Pro. I have been shooting Break barrels 15-20 years and shoot magnums a lot. I found the JSB 15.89 grains do best in the Pro. At 30 yards I get dime size groups pretty easy. Like Angie said, she's not a magnum shooter. That Extreme pro sits with my German Air rifles. It's quality is right there with them. The stock is actually better than most German beech stocks. I didn't have to take it apart, clean it up and give it a tune either. Smooth as silk right out of the box and consistent accuracy. Only spring guns I own that I can say that about is My Walther LGV Competition Ultra and LGU Varmint. They still have a little twang, but not bad. I would imagine the Bone collector would have similar accuracy. I also have the Swarm magnum in .177 and get under a dime at 30 yards. It's what convinced me to buy the Hunter Extreme Pro. They took 100's of squirrels with the Bone Collector's so they must be doing something right.

I've watched Rick shooting since he was doing it in his back yard. I've watched Angie shooting since she started. I sometimes think Rick doesn't want groups to tight because he doesn't want buyers to have bigger expectations of accuracy. I know if Rick gets a quarter size group the rifle will most likely stack pellets or close to it. He has reviewed and shot almost every air rifle I own, 20-25 or so. My groups are always better than his review even with the same pellets. I'm sure if Rick wanted, his groups would be much smaller in the reviews. @@springpistonriflefeverlone9611
