    • @Bluesit32
      @Bluesit32 6 лет назад +3

      TheComicCrafter Cap-Wolf is a classic storyline. I think it was how he got his super soldier serum blood back after the "ice incident", wherein a designer drug called "ice" (which may or may not be real, I've no idea), gets into Cap's system as a result of breathing in smoke fumes from an exploding building. It somehow latches on to the serum so that it never goes away. He becomes a paranoid, disheveled, delusional mess. This was back in the heavy "anti-drug" days and it was thought that the idea of Captain America getting his powers from a drug was a bad message to kids. Thus he got a blood transfusion, taking the tainted serum from his body.

    You mention when the Punisher turned black and when he became an angel but ignore when he became Frankenstein’s monster?
    And the whole Angel dating Husk thing: I never understood why people think it’s squicky (unless you go by the movies where the X-Men are in their thirties and forties). But in the comics Angel started, like Spider-Man, as a high school aged teen and Marvel’s sliding timescale means he should be in his early-mid twenties. She was legal and he was, maybe, ten years older than her, at most. Yes, the whole, banging in front of her mom thing was stupid, but there were a lot more stupid things in Chuck Austen’s run. Like how Northstar’s only characterization was “I’m gay. I’m gay. Did I mention I’m gay?” Or how Polaris goes from crazy to sane at the drop of a hat. And how She-Hulk bangs Juggernaut the first time they meet. And Sammy the Fish Boy.

    • @pious83
      @pious83 6 лет назад +12

      It's funny that people decry when Punisher turned black and became _spawn_ yet many actually like Frankencastle?
      To be fair, Jules didn't need to go into specifics, just say *The Chuck Austin run* and X-fans would have merely nodded and gone back to Suppressing the memories. Let's be honest, early Piotr and Kitty was a lot _worse_ considering Kitty was underage.

And he was also sent a complaint letter in his Marvel run of New Mutants to tone down the size of the boobs lol

      What happened from a literary point of view was:
      Peter met God, then a little while later, Marvel Chief Editor Joe Quesada forced J. Michael Straczynski to write One More Day; the story about Peter making a deal with the devil and nullify his marriage to MJ. JMS came up with ways that it wouldn't contradict previously established history but Quesada wanted none of it. He just wanted the story printed. It didn't make sense AT ALL. But that didn't matter to Quesada. He wanted HIS story to be run and JMS reluctantly did it then quit the company.
      The story further didn't make sense because out of everyone on Marvel Earth at that time, NOBODY could cure a simple bullet would. Not Beast, not Hank Pym, not Tony Stark, not even Doctor Strange. It was complete and utter nonsense, but the Editor in Chief wanted it written, no matter how little sense it made.

      Antonio Mateus Kate Bishop and female Thor were okay, but Iron heart was one of the reasons why there is such a thing as *too much* diversity in comics. Squirrel Girl was a stupid idea back when she was introduced, and America Chavez was another example of too much diversity in comics.

    • @Tamaki742
      @Tamaki742 6 лет назад +21

      Allen Murallo It's not exactly too much diversity, it's more like nowadays they can't manage to write diversity in a way that's organic or natural. Back in the day, like how it is now, groups like X Men and characters like Black Panther are pretty much reactions to what happened back in the day, but they way they were written is that they focused on how they are as characters and their adventures, instead of focusing on what kind of message their creations are supposed to send. Like they straight up made Riri a Mary Sue without any real significant character development. How did she even make that armor in her garage? Where did she even get the materials? I get that they're probably trying to send the message of "black young women can succeed too" but it just fell flat.
      Also I know Squirrel Girl is stupid. But she's still awesome.

    • @Slayerthecrow
      @Slayerthecrow 6 лет назад +6

      Can't at least change the artist of squirrel girl, 9 out of 10 people that I know can barely watch the comic, by the way I think that they have added way too many characters, I mean she's supposed to be a Joke character, but that doesn't work when the rest of her teammates are even lamer than the ones she had in Great Lakes Avenger

    -Spider-Man gets body-jacked by Doctor Octopus and no one in Spidey's immediate circle of friends and family notices despite Ock behaving like an out-and-out supervillain while in Spider-Man's body.
    -Civil War II and pretty much everything in it (War Machine is killed because writers jumped the gun on the movie, She-Hulk and Iron Man put in a coma, Hawkeye kills Hulk).
    -Captain America is revealed to be a Hydra sleeper agent and almost takes over the country.
    -the above plot line is resolved by a man who vomits up a Deus Ex Machina.
    -pretty much everything tied to Marvel Legacy.

      The hell are you talking about? Female Thor is one of the best selling titles and the most critically acclaimed one. And it managed to make Odinson super interesting again in Unworthy after being in a slump.
      Ironheart is pretty good too and has had a lot of success in sales too. It's a little too early to say how it will endure though but it certainly bring some interesting stuff, particularly concerning Tony Stark's mind itself. She also is a completely new character so I don't know what you're talking about, she's inspired by Stark for sure but I fail to see why you'd have a problem with the whole "youngster inspired by current heroes into becoming the next generation", that's basically a staple of the genre. Especially when it leads to confrontation or disillusion (like in Ms Marvel during Civil War II which was a lousy event but didn't affect the Ms Marvel line too badly)
      "Create wonderful new characters, or would that take too much effort?"
      There's simply not enough room for everyone. New characters have to take the place of old characters, that's just how the market works unless you decide to make every book a team one. So creating new characters (which they absolutely do) would not solve the issue you have at all. It would just make more former character disappear without a clear legacy (which the inspired youngster thing solved). Still I don't disagree that more completely new characters and identity wouldn't be better, but that problem has little to do with diversity and everything to do with the comics being a playground for the MCU to find successors to the current characters (or rather actors) in a safe manner.

I took after him to see the goods in all things and later to see the faults BUT what gets me is, me being small time comic collectors (I like getting them from the 80s-early 90s) -- ya know what I can go on and on and on and on about how he help me see things not in black and white with books but...
      Your whole defense, everything you just typed...I've been trying to get people to understand that for the longest. Sure it doesn't justify not experimenting a lot with new toons, and I'm not "that" big of a fan of race swap/ re-paint (that's why moon girl is so cool and I'd like to see Miles as the Tarantula) but me who can't buy every new comic release due to cash I normally resort to the web and the fights online is "IT'S A GREAT COMIC" or "IT'S SJW BULLSHIT". Anyway it goes I'm still a "comic NORMIE" becuase I can tolerate and enjoy the comic relief of which is squirrel gir (the Jar Jat of the mcu)l, or I accept Chavez, and that I can kiiiiiinda... understand where Mockingbird is coming from. A quick correction. Austen didn't stop writing comics after She Lies with Angels. He would write the solo X-Men title and had a brief run on Avengers that was suddenly ended. So he wrote for the company for another year or two. And no , Marvel's bankruptcy had little to do with comics and sales. It actually involved the main company which over-expanded into theme parks , trading card companies etc. The comics division would expand and be asked to pick up the brunt of this. (a fact they had like 175 monthly titles at one point !) . The publishing part is the only money making part by this stage and they did a re-organization bankruptcy and filed that the publishing part was only thing generating money. (They cut the number of monthly books down as well).

      The term homophobe implies that someone is afraid of gays, which I am not. I don't bear them any ill will, but I believe marriage is defined as the union of one man and one woman. People are free to love who they want, but if it is same-sex, call it a civil union, don't redefine marriage. Just my personal belief.
      It bothers me that people nowadays (those on the left in particular) insist that anyone who deviates from their belief system must be a hater, when that is simply not the case.

      SF Junkie marriage has existed outside of religion for years, so your idea of it does not apply to state law. Your idea of what homophobia is is demonstratively false. Homophobia is a hatred of gays, not a fear of them. It's the same as people who didn't want interracial marriages to happen. You are acting against their rights as human beings. Your religious beliefs have no bearing on what is a human right, and honestly you are as much a homophobe as Orson Scott Card is. 100%.

    blackphoenix77 the only reason why I said "Marvel" specifically was because this was a Marvel only list. That doesn't mean I deny that these types of things don't also happen in other comics.
